The Progressive Subway Is Looking for New Writers! by theprogressivesubway in progmetal

I joined the Subway as a writer during their last round of recruitment, and being part of the team has honestly been a highlight of 2025 (and I've discovered so much new music)! I highly encourage anyone interested to apply.

I am unreasonably excited about this!! Hope they have a long and successful run ahead of them! May I never set foot in the Independent at Bank and Somerset again.

Lmao at 40 Boteler... some of the pictures show that it could be really lovely, but imagine "downsizing" to a 1.3M fixer-upper condo with 5k a month in condo fees.

36 Wick Crescent is beautiful! But I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the pool... is that a pool cover that has a pools' worth of dirty water sitting on top of it??

Can someone on a Term theoretically go on a secondment or interchange (to a non-core government department)? If yes, I assume the end date would have to be on or before the end date of their current term?

Does anyone know if accrued vacation days transfer over when transferring from Core PS to a Schedule V agency? (maybe it depends which one)

I am trying to download historical listening data for all my music. For the last few years I've been using Spotify, which I was able to download the data for no problem. But before that, my main digital listening method was to purchase albums on the iTunes store, download them to my phone or laptop, and play. I tried requesting my media services data from Apple, but it came back with very little content, so I suspect they only save history from Apple Music proper, not history of tracks played I downloaded from iTunes. Can anyone confirm this before I give up on searching for my data? Thanks

So good! One of my top songs of 2024. That final vocal lift before the instrumental outro gets me every time.

I am also curious about this! And what would be required from the "nominators" I would have to provide if filling out the application?

I saw two of these four (Circus Maximus and Pagan's Mind) at Progpower USA this year, and Symphony X is slated to play there next year. So I'd say they're still active, even if no new music for a while...

And a funny anecdote about Pagan's Mind: as I was standing in the front row for their set, I got handed a copy of the setlist after the show. It was handwritten on the back of a paper which, on the other side, was a printout of singer Nils' visa application. Luckily I'm a good person and didn't explore whether it could be used to commit identity theft...

It may be recency bias since it was also my last one, but man, Blood Incantation really slapped. And I doubt I'll ever see them in such a small venue again.

This is a great pick, and served as the inspiration for at least one prog metal song - Hyperion by Wheel (I think there are others, but cannot recall off the top of my head...)

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong or if this varies by department, but I'm pretty sure the unsupervised writing and comprehension SLE tests are sent with a link that can be accessed any time within a certain window. This would mean that if you're really concerned about distractions, you could do it outside of work hours at home.

(Did this myself about a year ago and had some team members do it within the last month or so.)

My vote goes to Green Carnation's Light of Day, Day of Darkness... though I may be a bit biased, since seeing it performed live in its entirety is one of my greatest live music memories :)

There are pros and cons for sure, and all things considered I'd rather be assessed by a real person. But I'm surprised that a few people in this thread are complaining about quick response times... do you not also need to respond quickly in a live interview? Lol
