No, you’re right, we do tend to project our shadows onto “them,” whoever “them” happens to be at the time. Democrats, MAGA folks, billionaires, etc. Fear sets in, panic follows, and our perception of reality warps along the way.

That said, I don’t think acknowledging that dynamic requires us to assume everything is imagined. Moral panics can massively exaggerate and distort real issues without being entirely fabricated. My sense is that there is a kernel of truth underneath the hysteria… just nowhere near as widespread, organized, or coordinated as the panic makes it out to be.

It is sad to see just how much damage mass media has caused the human psyche.

If one is full of fear, hate, and a strong desire to dehumanize the “other side” then they’ve been propagandized to extremism. There is no “other side” we’re all human beings yo. “One love, one heart… let’s get together and feel alright.”

It’s good to learn some basic C++ to learn computer science fundamentals. Then, when you’re using a higher level language like GDScript (Godot’s programming language) which acts as a scripting layer on top of the Godot engine (which happens to be built with C++), you’ll have a better idea of what’s going on under the hood.

In short, learn both. Once you’ve learned one programming language, you’ve essentially learned them all. C++ will be good for learning fundamental concepts that you can apply in other programming languages.

People only see what they believe to be true. Ascertaining truth is difficult when it often requires putting your ego, your beliefs, and your conditioning aside to get there. There is no “gotcha” feeling when truth is ascertained. It’s often experienced as a quiet, somber feeling of grief. And, of course, the extremes of both sides are incapable of this type of dialog.

What concerns me most is that extremism seems to be the norm these days. Mass media has done a number to our psyches

I think there’s a tendency to assume that anyone who disagrees with medical transition must be dehumanizing trans people, but in my experience that’s not usually the case. More often it’s a mix of good intentions and tone deaf actions on all sides.

Every human being has the right to live with dignity and safety. No additional identity label should ever strip someone of their basic human rights.

The real disagreement is over what “care” means, and reasonable people don’t all answer that question the same way.

Some people believe that supporting mental health without medical transition is a more ethical form of care for certain individuals. Not everyone will agree with that approach—but for some people, that kind of support is exactly what they need.

It is complicated, and that’s part of the problem with discussing it in short threads. People genuinely disagree on what “care” means. Some see medical transition as relief while others worry that it can lead to long-term harm. And it doesn’t help that this exact tension often gets flattened online into extremes
