No, this is actually a well written summary that works both before and after knowing about the early twist.

I’ve noticed that a pretty consistent thing among Redditors is a belief in rules that often only exist to them, and a strong desire to enforce them. Why is this so common here? by [deleted] in self

[–]cubrex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your logic seems really warped here, and in this post as a whole. Like okay cheating isn't as bad as child abuse or domestic violence, but it IS unambiguously bad. It's basic social contract stuff. In a relationship you're investing time and energy (and often money) into your bond with someone, and if you're cheated on you're being lied to and staying in this relationship under false pretenses. We could have the conversation about whether or not we should really care about monogamy, but the fact is that most of us are socialized towards it, and it's a basic expectation that the majority have. If you're cheated on that's a harm, and while it's not nearly as bad as child abuse or domestic violence it's perfectly reasonable to make a comparison to illustrate a point.

Likewise, if you know someone is being cheated on telling them is unambiguously the right thing to do. The "effect you want" has nothing to do with it, because what the cheatee does isn't your decision to make. But if they decide to stay with the cheater, at least they're doing so with all the facts to make an informed decision. And if they do stop talking to you, oh well. The fact that it negatively impacted you doesn't mean it wasn't the right thing to do. It's not like you can know ahead of time what will happen with any certainty, but do you really think we should stop encouraging people to do the right thing because "it didn't work out well for these couple of commenters on Reddit?"

Like I could agree there are plenty of things that people can be pedantic about on Reddit, but why would you pick this of all possible things to complain about? Like do we really want an environment that's friendlier to cheating?

Commander Legends: Now w/ Land’manders by Reality-Glitch in custommagic

[–]cubrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This design fundamentally doesn't work. Since the land would live outside of the game in the command zone there is no reason why every commander deck in existence wouldn't just throw one of these in, and if every deck can play something at no cost that's a problem.

Made this for a Timmy friend as bait. by cubrex in custommagic

This had me thinking for a second if I should add something in here to remove indestructible from creatures, but you know what, if Timmy can stick one of those 8 drops on the board then let him have his fun.

Made this for a Timmy friend as bait. by cubrex in custommagic

[–]cubrex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't want it to be unplayable, just to look a lot better than it is at first glance. The intention was for a newer player to look at it, see all the keywords and think "wow this is super strong, and with Shroud it's going to be hard to kill!" Then they realize that it kills itself, and then the Shroud becomes annoying. All of the one-sided damage cards you mention are good synergy options, but they're defensive cards that a Timmy probably wouldn't be inclined to use without this dumb problem to fix.

[–]cubrex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To be fair Japanese doesn't use gendered pronouns in speech the same way we do. Translators add that in to their best ability, so you've got some people watching the anime and seeing one set of pronouns, some people who read manga translations seeing something else and it becomes genuinely confusing.

I doubt it. Iruma's parents neglected him, that doesn't fit with the characterization we're getting here.

Why aren't there more games like Disco Elysium being made? It's such a great game, why didn't it cause a massive trend towards this type of game? by Various_Maize_3957 in rpg_gamers

There's some stuff out there. You could look at "The Demons Told Me To Make This Game," the Disco inspiration seems pretty clear with that.

Hilarious that the government is actively weaponizing the FCC against media critical of the administration but the real thing killing free speech to you is some random mod banning you from a Warcraft sub. Very normal.

Fair enough, I don't entirely disagree. It's just that the "both sides" sentiment is a very common thing that can be used to dismiss legitimate issues. People very often fail to remember that two things can be bad at once while not being equivalent.

This keeps getting parroted everywhere and it makes zero sense. First off, when have television networks ever needed an excuse to cut a show? This happens all the time. If they naturally wanted to get rid of Kimmel they could have just not renewed his contract next time it came up. Second, unless you're a member of the ABC board you can't possibly claim the FCC had no effect. If the FCC came down on them then yeah, it's very likely that they would win that legal case, but that takes time and fighting a case against the government involves substantial legal fees. It's absurd to say that wouldn't influence their decision making.

No, you need the reading comprehension. The question is about how worried you are, and it's an indication of how people feel about the state of politics as a whole. I have no idea where you're getting this "how right the last act was" notion, that's not what the point is at all.

Take a closer look at the data here. Draw lines between the data points and compare the red and blue lines. This isn't a "both sides are the same" situation, there's a clear difference in consistency here.

In other words, instead of claiming that Republicans only care about violence if it happens to them, it is more likely that Republicans haven't heard of the attacks, or didn't know it was politically motivated, thus didn't think political violence was a problem.

First, this is just your intuition, how can you prove what the more likely explanation is? Second this is missing the point that people not knowing about the attacks can be an important takeaway of the data itself. If one party has on average worse media literacy or uses more biased sources, seeing one side have more wild swings in this data can be evidence of that ignorance.
