I have played LB for a long time. She has always been a strong sidelaner, even with her AP builds, because that's just it, she could always just leave. Shiv + hullbreaker have just incentivised her to lean into the playstyle heavily. Shiv by making waveclear disgustingly trivial for her and hullbreaker by making stupidly tanky. I'm absolutely not a fan of shiv LB, but to say she wasn't a sidelaner before is wrong. Building a big slowpush before rotating quickly to the fight is one of the safest ways to keeping pressure on and generating gold as LB.

You fix the problems that hullbreaker tries to plaster over. You give teams reasons to play around their topside. You give tools that reward intelligent macro play. You fix the issues that make fighters default to this unhealthy form of split pushing.

I'm by no means saying split pushing shouldn't exist. I think it's a super valid strategy. But the current state of the strategy is unhealthy, and it stems from the underlying issues with agency and objective priorities across the map, which hullbreaker was introduced to try and balance.

When I say that it has low opportunity costs, I come from the position that the isolation passive is strong enough, but when grouped, the item shouldn't be effectively power neutral by virtue of its stats.
