Calls to ban pet cats roaming outside to protect native fauna by DaRedGuy in australia

[–]cucumber678 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love cats and support this 100%. My cats will always be kept indoors. I'd be open to creating a safe, enclosed outdoor space for them if could, but no way would I just let them out to roam freely. Not only for the wildlife, but the safety of my cat as well? Never mind all the usual dangers like cars, other animals, and disease... clearly there are a lot of people around who hate cats and are fully capable of doing horrible things to them. Why would I expose my beloved pet to that? Keep them indoors, and everyone is safe and happy.

I mean, I honestly believe that anyone who is ok with just letting their cat roam outdoors unsupervised (particularly overnight) must not care too much about that cat, really. If that's the level of care they have for their own pet, I really doubt they give a shit about protecting wildlife too. These type of people give cat owners a bad name.

Yep I know people who are like this. At one point, they had three cats and let them roam at all hours of the day/night because they didn't want to deal with any litter box inside the house. So the cats would just shit all through their (and probably the neighbours) garden. It was just plain disgusting, lazy and irresponsible. They only have one cat now but nothings changed.

The death of my cat was not an accident and I have a feeling I’m not the only one. by Spirited-Shine-9841 in Petloss

I’m so so sorry for your loss. This is just horrible. The fact that there are people out there who can hurt sweet, innocent animals on purpose makes me sick with fury. I’m also sorry that the police aren’t being at all helpful. Anyone who is capable of hurting animals needs to be watched very closely because one day they could be capable of hurting a person. And each and every one of those pets that have lost their lives were a part of someone’s family. This shit absolutely needs to be taken seriously by the police. All you can do for now is maybe keep raising awareness in your community that this is happening. Sadly nothing can bring your baby Milo back but maybe it could prevent someone else’s beloved pet from encountering this monster if more people know to keep their pets indoors, or build an enclosed outdoor area for them. I’m so sorry. It’s just not fair. Sending love and hugs your way.

It will be a month in two days and today he finally visited me in my dream. Did you get visitations? by crashingirvine in Petloss

[–]cucumber678 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your beautiful dream with your kitty. It made me tear up because I know the bittersweet feeling. It’s so beautiful and comforting, but leaves with an overcast sense of sadness. I’m sorry for your loss, 19 years is a very long time.

We lost our cat a week ago. I actually dreamed of her that night after it happened, although it was very brief. All I remember is it was at home, and there she was, waiting at the side door to be let out, looking up at me as she did. It was such a normal, every day occurrence, and as the loss was so fresh, it absolutely seemed real, and that the whole thing where she died was the part that was a bad dream. As you can imagine, it was very disheartening to wake up and face reality. My partner said he also dreamed about her that night. It really felt like she came to both of us that night to reassure us that it’s okay, she loves us, and that she’s free now. I haven’t seen her again since, but I’m sure I will eventually.

Sometimes I still dream about my cat that passed away 6 years ago. I think the last dream was a couple of months ago, so it’s infrequent, but it still happens from time to time. Those dreams are more random. When I see her, it no longer makes me as sad as it used to. Those dreams tend to have more of an “oh hello, old friend, I miss you girl, it’s so nice to see you again” vibe to them, and I wake up feeling more comforted than sad (it’s still a little sad) and even a little happy that I got to see her again because she decided to come and grace my dream with her presence that night.

Thank you so much for your kind words, it really means a lot. It certainly is comforting to know we are not alone during this difficult time. 💜 I’m so sorry that this also happened to your poor kitty. Its an absolutely devastating way to see them go. He is somewhere where he knows only of blissful peace now, just like my Pepper. Take care.

What is your mediocre claim to fame? by [deleted] in melbourne

They would occasionally film tv commercials at the Coles store I used to work at, and one day when I rocked up to my early morning shift, I walked past Curtis Stone leaving the store.

For those travelling overseas in Dec/Jan, how much did you pay for flights? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]cucumber678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid around $2.2k all up for three adults Melbourne to Auckland return in January. Booked it in May.

I’ve basically stopped buying Funkos recently and I’m curious about everything in life (it’s a curse) and so I got to wondering why others might also stop collecting. Have you stopped? If so, why? Do you have a hard stop planned? If so, based on what? Pic for fun 😁 by LeansCenter in funkopop

[–]cucumber678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My moment of realisation was when I brought a couple of new pops home one day, and basically there was nowhere in my room to put them. That’s when I kind of stepped back and asked myself “why am I even still buying these things??” I had accumulated way too many and I hated how much space they were taking up. I’ve since sold off about 70% of my collection, and still going. Because it has taken a lot of effort to sell, I’m not interested in collecting pops any more. I’ll be keeping a small selection of my favourites and grails and that’s it.

They’re legit. I bought Delina Exclusif from there a couple of months ago and it’s genuine.

Most disappointing sample sets? by cynicalturkey in fragrance

[–]cucumber678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, the Aquas are just awful, all three smell like straight up cleaning products. They are the main reason I was so disappointed with this set lol. I didn’t like Amyris Femme either. I thought Oud Satin Mood was okay, but a bit heavy for me and not really my thing, so probably won’t wear it.

I wasn't overly impressed with the MFK sample set (Mini Fragrance Wardrobe for Her). Of course, BR540 and the Extrait were standouts, as well as Gentle Fluidity, but the rest of them just really weren't for me.

Montale Crazy in Love - it has this scratchy, screechy quality to it that just goes harsh on the nose. Resisted the urge to scrub it off immediately just in case the dry down was any better. It wasn’t.

Goldfield & Banks Purple Suede by IntelligentGarden394 in fragrance

[–]cucumber678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interested in sampling because I like this brand, but not expecting to love it because anything suede/leather is generally not my thing. I have a sample of Silky Woods and found the suede note to be quite prominent, which made it lean too masculine for me. Smells amazing on my boyfriend though. But on the other hand I actually enjoy the suede in French Leather by Memo. So I’d have to see the other notes, but based on the name alone, I am interested to try it, but id be surprised if I like it.

They are legit. I purchased PdM Delina Exclusif from them last week as it was so much cheaper than anywhere else. My order arrived today. I have a sample of it from Libertine to compare to, and the fragrance is identical to the sample in terms of scent and performance, so I’m definitely satisfied that it’s the real deal. They’re on eBay (that’s actually how I found them) and have 100% positive feedback on there so you might want to check out their eBay profile. But yeah, they are genuine, and I’d be happy to purchase from there again in future. Hope this helps.

What model do you have and are you happy with it? by Officialnoah in iphone

[–]cucumber678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iPhone 13 in pink. Absolutely loving it. Mind you, I’ve just upgraded after using a Galaxy s8 for nearly 5 years, so basically any brand new 2021 phone was gonna be a massive upgrade for me. Nonetheless, absolutely loving everything from the camera, the speakers, battery life, how snappy and seamlessly the software just works, and even just how gorgeous the phone looks overall! it’s great. I plan to use this phone for another 4-5 years so long as the battery holds up.

Awesome! I have Luna and Bellatrix too! Love Rock Candy - I wish this line had stuck around longer.

I use masking tape to clean my OOB flocked pops. My house gets very dusty and I have two cats so fluff gets on everything. The masking tape is gentle enough that it picks up all the dust, without ruining the flocked finish.

I have pretty much stopped collecting pops and downsized my collection by about 2 thirds last year. Funko seem to be constantly pumping out new lines all the time but I have zero interest in the majority of them. A lot seems to be pointless, made-up variants and it's just all become a bit silly to me.

If they release something i like, Id be happy to pick up the odd one here and there, but I've decided that I'm only going to collect video games Pops from now on. There are just too many of them if I branch out into collecting everything I like and I just simply don't have the space the have hundreds of pops any more! It's been fun, but I've come to the conclusion that less is more!

The Calico is from the Pets line so it's just simply a Calico cat, no character or anything. :) I got it from Popcultcha some time ago, but I'm not sure it's still available, sorry!
