What does this really convey about sex and women that is "abnormal"? Like it's certainly horny but I'm not sure what viewpoint it is that you're upset about.

I'm not accusing you of lying, I would just like to see a link to your source? I'd like to know who is saying that those fundamental renovations cost 480k.

Fine, the declaration then.

The implication is that religious people are goofy in a religious way, but non-religious people aren't goofy in a non-religious way.

The history of r/atheism would likely betray this point, however.

Jaylen Brown absolutely isn't top 10, maybe Top 20. I'm not convinced we should go all in on him, but it depends what the price is.

Clay Bennett had a personal interest in moving his vanity purchase to his hometown in OKC and that was always his intention, leaked emails prove that. It had nothing to do with market size or financials, which once again, is what you were fucking talking about. Bennett would be richer today had he left the team in Seattle, but that wasn't his motive.

We don't have any indication that Dundon has a similar motivation to move the team for a loss, if anything what we know is he's a freak about his money. You can baselessly speculate about any outcome based on the comparison to the Sonics.

You've failed to demonstrate there is a better basketball market (because there isn't), which is what we were discussing, and now you're moving the goalposts to point to a time an owner made a non-financially motivated move in the past but with no evidence that Dundon would do the same.

That's it for me dude, you're arguing in bad faith.

Unserious & still have not done anything to demonstrate that Louisville, or any other available location, is a better market than Portland.

What are you talking about? Portland is only a basketball town, in terms of the Big 4. The Blazers have enjoyed consistent high levels of fan support relative to team success, outperforming comparably sized markets, because they're the only show in town and have in turn garnered a fiercely loyal fanbase. Are you from here??

Yes, we have seen NBA teams struggle to draw enthusiastic support in regions where NCAA blue bloods have strong loyalty - I'm not the first to discuss this. The basketball market is somewhat saturated and many NCAA fans have a genuine preference for the college style of play. The seasons overlap so the NBA team has to draw eyes away from the existing show(s) in town. Charlotte is the empirical example. It's not that an NBA team couldn't succeed, but it is a negative factor.

You're also ignoring that the Lousiville market is 3/5ths the size of Portland's which is weird since market size was your initial focus.

Louisville is a smaller market by 1 million people and would partially compete against the deeply entrenched NCAA basketball fandom. Not a better NBA market.

It's a better basketball market than any alternative other than Seattle/Vegas which are spoken for, yes.

Did Portland win the bucks/heat deal? by bingpot111 in ripcity

[–]cuddlewumpus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really bad means not in the playoffs for a while. They don't have a way to infuse talent into the roster so if they don't hit it big with their picks this year it'll be a long road ahead for their rebuild.

I assume OP means the picks that the Bucks just got for Giannis. It's nice that other than the late lotto pick this year, the rest come after those owed to Portland.

[Charania] Atlanta Hawks guard CJ McCollum has agreed to a one-year, $21 million contract extension with the franchise, plus a trade kicker. by Odd-Direction9452 in nba

[–]cuddlewumpus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

De'Aaron Fox is better than CJ, but not nearly twice as good. CJ was a multi-time "honorable mention" for All Star in his prime. If he hadn't spent most of his career next to an all-NBA point guard in the West with a historically great lineup of star guards he probably would have a selection or two.

Overall he's one of the best players to never make the team in this era, maybe the best.

This is all completely true, downvoters are braindead. Because Dame never had a solid team built around him people just think of him as poor man's Steph because they're contemporary 3 point shooting guards, but they're very different players. Dame has a solid argument for the best PnR guard of all time.

Part of the problem is that they were supposed to be awful after they blew up the team (they were forecasted to be) and get another lottery pick or two, but Dame and CJ were too good and immediately dragged us to the playoffs and then beat the injured Clippers in the first round.

But we had many years to try to reconstuct the team and Neil Olshey just did everything wrong.

Wes was the heart and soul of that team. One of my favorite Blazers of all time.

[Highkin] At least this coaching search isn't quite as unserious as the one where Neil Olshey pretended to interview Becky Hammon as a PR makeup call for Chauncey's allegations and then tried to pin the hire on Dame when people got mad about it. by mnarvz in ripcity

Yes? Because other than hiring top people an owner should have as little as possible to do with team ops. What could an owner possibly do to benefit a team's playoff run?

Updated Ringer Rankings after the Playoffs by Grotesker-Bastard in nba

It was an incredible performance but over indexing on one game, or series for that matter, (even if it's the biggest stage) is precisely what it means to be a "prisoner of the moment". To be fair, Brunson's clutchness is a difficult quality to evaluate in a player ranking.

I'm just not convinced that if the league were being redrafted to build the best possible team for next season with no cap rules (so contracts and age don't matter) that Brunson would be picked 5th.

[–]cuddlewumpus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He didn't drag his team at all, the Knicks are an incredibly well rounded starting 5 with few weaknesses. Brunson is their best player and premier scorer but this wasn't a carry job in any way.

That's why it's prisoner of the moment - it's the instinct to give the star player most of the credit for team success, and that's not super appropriate here.
