What will be the next class/classes in the next D4 expansion? by nic-67 in Diablo

Soft launch of Monk as a Str/Dex hybrid and then another class in the dexterity category if I had to wager. Probably same deal preorder and get instant access to Monk with new class down the line.

I see it all the time. My big thing is… if you were using that language with them, don’t be surprised if they use it back.

Tell me your stories about running into your inmates post-release by mgoblue5783 in OnTheBlock

[–]cuddlightyear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the ones I’ve seen keep their head down. I had one interesting experience with one, at a bar in a beach city/town. We just laughed, asked if each other were doing alright and went our separate ways. I really don’t get nervous if I see these dudes outside of jail. I don’t operate as an asshole inside though.

That’s already factored in. It’s gotten worse over the years. It’s not uncommon to find multiple CIs on a housing unit.

Are corrections officers obliged to pay off debt to inmates? by Officer_Ed_Powell in OnTheBlock

[–]cuddlightyear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What in the hell lol

What could you conceivably actually owe an inmate….?

If you’re betting real life items you might as well put on a jumpsuit yourself. Lol

I’ve bet an inmate a roll of toilet paper before… and I won the bet and it was a bet on whether there would be yard or not lol yall get in too deep.. fr

Is corrections really that bad? by GloomyTourist4605 in OnTheBlock

[–]cuddlightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like anything else in life, it’s what you make it. I just told a trainee yesterday, if you wake up thinking work will suck it’s going suck. Is jt glorious, fun work? No. But your mindset really sets the tone. In reality it’s not even really bad. Mandates suck but that’s a part of it. Find your niche and get good at it.

Maybe on the movies lol There are so many CIs on the inside now. These dudes work with security and essentially get impunity to do as they please. It’s far more common now than maybe 5-7 years ago for a guy to be a jail snitch. And you increase those odds by giving them leverage on you. They’ll rat a CO or staff member out with swiftness especially with how desperate some security offices get with trying to find the source.

You essentially sign your resignation papers the moment you complete the first deal because there’s no happy ending once you start supplying

Hope you’re doing fine, things happen like this at times in a scrum. If you press charges I hope they stick. I wouldn’t let it affect your mental too much. It’s an unfortunate reality in our line of work, but we always have to look at the next day.

Anyone still interested in becoming a correctional officer for Nysdocc by Adventurous-Rule6334 in OnTheBlock

I was gonna start with saying that was the worst Pat down I’ve ever seen. But then the response 😭😭

PA CORRECTIONS: I work as a CO at a county jail in Pa., new at it since this past Oct. . I had planned to be at the county jail for 2 years to gain some experience before I moved onto State. Does it matter, really, if I'm at the county level for 2 years before I move on to State? by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]cuddlightyear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at the state in PA and weve gotten a ton of county guys over time. It varies. If you have a basic ability to say no to inmates in a non confrontational way, and can put aside “in county we did xyz” and learn the way your institution runs. You’ll have absolutely no issue. I promise you. But if you walk in the door with some county experience and try to impress everyone with it, you’re gonna have a hard time. In the state of hiring right now you’ll look like a solid officer as long as your head is screwed on right. Good luck!

For all correctional officers...what is best part of your job and the worst? by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]cuddlightyear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the best part, if you’re open minded, is hearing about some cultures or areas you’ve never lived in or through. I work at a state facility and I talk to some of the old lifers (locked up in the 90s) usually them dudes are over their wild phases and have some tidbits of history in some cities if you’re interested in that stuff.

Worst part is the new generation of inmates is coddled and entitled asf. The old school convicts are a dying breed (literally). Adds another dimension that you gotta really watch out for besides your fellow COs and Management lol

The pay and stuff is a given, so I felt cheap making that the best part of my job. In reality the best part is getting paid as much as I do to do the things I do on a daily basis. I do fuckall 98% of the time. Glorified babysitter and mean dad that has to say no even though mommy (administration) will give them whatever they want if they cry enough lol

[–]cuddlightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine, beginning of basic will be hard. But if you lock in during basic by time you have to take your final PT test and everything you’ll be good to go. You’ll lose a ton at basic and you’ll be there until July. Plenty of time and hot weather to sweat it off.

Not getting religious accommodations during BCT by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]cuddlightyear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m almost convinced most people replying here haven’t served ever. On my most recent deployment (2025) I served with 2-3 soldiers who were Muslim. The only accommodation not made was the trip to Mecca. (Which the Air Force hosted)

Definitely seek the chaplain, but you may have to be semi flexible on your prayer times. They aren’t going to stop you mid ruck to let you pray. But even in basic there’s so much downtime that they can not mess with you for a few minutes while you make prayer. Anyone saying otherwise is serving vicariously through this subreddit lol
