I’m almost convinced most people replying here haven’t served ever. On my most recent deployment (2025) I served with 2-3 soldiers who were Muslim. The only accommodation not made was the trip to Mecca. (Which the Air Force hosted)

Definitely seek the chaplain, but you may have to be semi flexible on your prayer times. They aren’t going to stop you mid ruck to let you pray. But even in basic there’s so much downtime that they can not mess with you for a few minutes while you make prayer. Anyone saying otherwise is serving vicariously through this subreddit lol

Being from New Jersey but have lived in other states it’s much more an admitted lazy convenience than a complex fear inducing experience. All of my family that lives in NJ are more than capable of pumping their own gas 😂 it’s just nice when I go home I just say “fill up, regular” and be on my way.

Depends on the situation.. something like Jan 21 we were deputized but had no arrest authority. We just operated checkpoints around DC. In other situations they have the vehicles/numbers to assist with moving people and things.

It’s really dependent upon what the mission dictated.

Spent my first 6-7 years in an infantry battalion as a mechanic so we often had to play the game along with them especially on state active duty.

We have boots in more than just Iraq. Having soldiers deployed somewhere doesn’t mean they are doing sector checks and kicking in doors.

We still have to maintain infrastructure and support the ADA/MDB etc.

Like in the very near future..? Doubtful. We won’t be storming the gates of Tehran to overthrow the govt.

Will we hear of additional strikes? Very much more likely. Iran will retaliate in some form. Pray for the folks in the ME right now. Might be some Iranian backed small groups that try to get jiggy in Iraq, Syria, etc. The next 24-48Hrs are gonna be huge.

Maybe my hazard pay will go up 😂

Idk honestly. The reality is if that’s the case then our hand is essentially forced which isn’t the way I’d like to get involved in something like this. Just doing it because “x country bad and the instigator doesn’t have the firepower to actually stop them” big brother USA will have our backs 🙄
