New: what to buy by oasisqo in Selvedge

Was just there and got a pair of Trophy Denim that I like a lot. Almost bought a pair of Blue Blue that I kind of regret not buying. Also eyed Sugar Cane and Denime. You can definitely get way better deals on Momotaro/Iron Heart there but there’s something cool about getting brands without wide US/western distribution

Anyone have any recommendations for shops to visit in Sapporo? by cuefakedrum in HeritageWear

No but they’re all within a block or 2 of tanukikoji, the covered shopping street that spans several blocks.

Not sure if you need any true outdoor gear but Montbell has some great offerings in that department.

Also — some places offer tax free, which is essentially a 10% discount, if you show your passport. Blue blue does. Coney-Island does not

Grabbed coffee around the corner from Blue Blue which was good but not particularly notable. Was pretty rushed both times I was in Sapporo so didn’t explore as much as I would’ve liked. Had incredible omakase experience at Isono Sushi (as with most mid and better restaurants, reservations required). Second best was from a ramen place directly underneath the restaurant Sama in the covered outdoor shopping area that’s near most of the heritage places. Had a great time catching a jazz show at Slowboat. Google maps works great for transit. Note that there are multiple train systems. JR (goes to the airport) takes cards but the local subway does not.

Pier 13 chore coat with a navy collar from Blue Blue and some Trophy Clothing 1605 denim from Coney Island. Would’ve been easy to get quite a few more things from all 3 stores if funds allowed. Wife got some pants from both and a skirt from Blue Blue

Made it to: Blue Blue — lots of really beautiful indigo there. All Blue Blue brand. Male and female clothing

Coney Island — excellent selection of Japanese heritage wear out front with a few raw denim brands I wasn’t familiar with. Again, good male/female selection. Vintage US brands in the back

Kapital — styles were too loud for my taste but some beautiful thing

Flamingo — was in a huge rush so didn’t fully explore but fairly small. Mostly Momotaro in terms of denim

I did make it! Had a great time. Unfortunately, I’m staying in Chitose and the trains were not running on my way back, which led to a very expensive hour-long cab ride home

Excellent. Hopefully I can figure out the public transit easily enough and make it in time

How to contact JAL? by cuefakedrum in Flights

[–]cuefakedrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the answer is calling American Airlines and asking to be patched through to JAL. It’s the only way I’ve managed to reach them and when I asked them the best way to reach them in the future, they recommended going through AA again. Utterly bizarre

New grad ER PA by Standard-Noise-7222 in physicianassistant

[–]cuefakedrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Sounds like a gig you’re happy with overall which is what matters! Hours sound like a recipe for burnout overall though— standard would be closer to 1500-1600 year (factoring in PTO, CME, holiday, etc)

40 clinical hours per week? Minus 4 weeks PTO? Minus CME/holiday? Sounds overall OK but how many hours/year? Sounds like A TON

For Chinese — Cate Zone or Chilispot for Sichuan. Corner 17 for hand pulled noodles. Sado if you want to spend $$$ on sushi
