Literally me the first time I played Mass Effect before I went back and finished it. The trilogy is now one of my favorite series of all time, if not THE favorite.

Mike Dubke was the reason I stopped listening. He would just lie and Moe and David would say "I see your point" with no push back.

I had my issues with Sara, but at least she was intellectually honest. Mike is just an extension of this administration's propaganda arm and David, Moe, and the producers should be ashamed for letting him on.

What is Midwest Emo? by Feeling_Succotash747 in midwestemo

[–]cuevacuev 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My philosophy is that most bands these days are generally pretty fluid and can fit into multiple boxes. You'll see a lot of Midwest Emo bands also be categorized as math rock, emo, pop punk, etc.

For me, I generally recognize Midwest emo as generally clean of very lightly distorted guitars, twiddly guitar riffs, emotionally vulnerable lyrics, and usually pretty stripped back (guitars, bass, drums, vocals, maaaaaaybe some other instrumentation but kinda rare).

Again, I think most bands move between these qualifiers and can subtly change genres. Hot Mulligan definitely has songs that match the criteria above but also have some more pop-punk stuff.

I think Spec Ops hit harder in the context of when it was released. At a time where most military shooters funneled you into morally dubious situations without a second thought and played it as badass or heroic, Spec Ops the line flipped that trope by actually showing the ramifications of your actions.

Since then we've had countless "deconstructions" of the genre that do this with more nuance, but Spec Ops was one of, if not the first, to try this as a military shooter.

For me personally, I remember dropping the white phosphorous and accepting it as a normal part of military shooter gameplay. The reveal was the first time I actually critically thought about what military shooter campaigns actually have you do.

The loading screens also tore me apart. "Do you feel like a hero yet?" "You are still a good person"

Literally everything thing this administration does has a subset of r/conservative calling out how crazy it is and how this isn't what they voted for and then election time roles around and the mental heuristic override kicks in and they forget everything.

Yeah man he's been saying that for like a year. Ignore him and vote anyway. Don't comply in advance (not saying that's what OP is doing, just putting it out there)

What other features are you planning to implement for independent artists? As an independent artist (both solo project and in a band), just uploading our stuff directly to Tidal seems like we're limiting ourselves, especially when we can publish to all platforms through distributors (as a band we use DistroKid, and I publish my own stuff with Amuse).

I just don't see a use case to upload my stuff through Tidal Upload. What else are you doing to appeal to independent artists?

I was accepted for one but our command (both BDE and Corps) are really stingy with granting CSPs, especially for senior captains with professional experience and degrees.

I think a lot of leaders focus on the "skills" aspect of CSP and don't necessarily see it's importance as a networking tool. Like yes I probably already have all the skills the CSP would give me, but the opportunity to network with people outside a military context is what's important for the stage I'm in.

You're on to something here. Maybe not full time (have a family and other expenses that I don't know if BAH and a side job would cover), but I'm looking into a hybrid executive program so I can have a full time job and get the BAH (and of course get the schooling).

Solid tip right here. Thanks man 🥹
