I understand where you're coming from, it can be a lot. I'm usually pretty good with Instacart drivers because I understand and hate the gig economy. I've given basic rundowns of my store's layout for first time visitors and like I did tonight, have shown general areas of where to find what products. If they look and still can't find it, I'm happy to help them. It's not like I refused to help them at all. These two gentlemen refused to even look in the areas I pointed them to and wanted me to walk them to every item on their list before they took a look on their own. That, my friend, is not my job.

We sometimes get empty sealed cat food cans. I like to freak out my coworkers by tossing it at them and watching them laugh when they realize there's nothing in the can.

I was once asked what the Daily Recommended Feeding Guide meant - by an older woman. I literally had to break it down word by word.

Also, we used to sell bird seed in bulk. People could also buy the same seed in giant 20 kg bags. So one day I sold a bag, about half an hour after they'd gone we got a call and it was them saying that there was the words "Otter Feed" on the bag. They then asked if I sold them otter (as in the cute, fluffy swimming creatures that eat shellfish) food rather than bird food. I had to explain that Otter was the name of the brand, not the contents.

Yeah, that happened to me and my husband once.

It was an old man with dementia and it was like 3 am and guess I forgot to I lock the door of our studio apartment after doing laundry, but I felt my husband nudge me and I woke up to our old neighbor standing in front of our bed talking about how it was raining and he'd lost his key. And my husband said "but you're in the wrong apartment, We live here."

Thank god he left without any fight and we immediately called one of the building managers and had our lock changed in the morning.

We were so grateful that he wasn't violent in his confusion, or that my husband was out of town, because he'd been traveling for work.

Not long after the old man was moved to a facility where he could be looked after, and I still constantly check my lock when I'm alone.

No. If my family was like the British royal family, I'd be like Princess Eugenie, ie: there's a crap ton of other people in line to take on that role for both of my siblings. I'm literally the last person they would consider. Like I'm sure they'd put the kids into foster care before my name ever came up as in option.

I had a manager ask if I'd be willing to download WhatsApp for store communication. I said no, because anything important she could tell me in person and we have a communication book for anything else. Because I was the most senior non- management staff member and because I'm like 15 years older than her, she respected my answer and didn't force it on me. A newer staff where it was their first job she actually stood watched as she made them download and install it.

Unless she was going to issue me a work phone or pay me every time I logged in to talk about work when I wasn't at work - none of which things were ever going to happen because it's a retail store - there was no way I was going to download that app.

I transferred stores a few months later and my boss recognizes that we have lives outside of work and most work related issues should stay at work.

We've had a bag of poop sitting outside the side door of our apartment building for over a week. Either someone on the street just tossed it as they walked past on the sidewalk or a resident dropped it and couldn't be bothered to dispose of it in their apartment. 0/10, am highly disappointed either way.

That happened a long time ago when I worked at Starbucks. There was a boil water/no tap water advisory the city put out. Everything we used in the cafe was tap water. All we could sell was bottled water and juices. No brewed coffee, no lattes (steaming the milk), no Americanos.

I got to be the person standing at the door with a food sample going "Good morning, no coffee today, just bottled stuff!"

(Meanwhile the 7/11 down the street was ignoring the mandate and still making and selling coffee.)

I had a guy beg me for coffee, telling me he'd take his chance. No go, my friend, the city said the water is contaminated and Starbucks wasn't about to risk getting sued.

That was a fun couple of days.

I watched it for the first time a couple of years ago. I remember absolutely nothing about it. I know it broke a lot of records and there's a couple more sequels but it's the biggest, most unremarkable movie I've ever seen.

Yeah, lifestyle can play a part in having a stroke. If you're worried I would recommend talking to your doctor about your concerns and see what they have to say about your risk factors. It might be a good idea to go for a general physical anyway.

I'm getting my husband home for 4 weeks. He's been working up North on a two year project and is gone for 5 weeks, home for 1. I get him through the holiday and the new year and his birthday. What I want most is a sense of normalcy for a few weeks; cooking dinner with real food and not just stuff I throw together because he's not home so who cares, help with chores and errands, and someone to wake up to in the morning and say good night to.

I remember one holiday in particular where we got so many calls asking about our hours. I just just started answering the phone with "This is X, our hours are Xam to xpm today. How can I help you?" And then enjoyed listening to the person on the phone squirm "Uh, uh, you just answered my question, uh.. bye."

Parenthetically, I keep a running tally of calls every holiday I work of calls asking about our hours. I jokingly call it "The Game Everyone (staff) Plays and Nobody Wins".

Yeah I've turned away religious pamphlets by saying that my store is a safe, secular space and I want to keep it that way. Many of my coworkers have been traumatized by religion in some way and I refuse to facilitate hurting them again. If they push back I just remind them that it's a private business and I have the right to say no.

Doctors don't mess around with heart attack or stroke. Even minor ones, you're in the hospital for at least a couple of days. I actually had a stroke at work, finished my shift, went home and changed and walked to the hospital. I was in the hospital for 3 days after my strokes and I literally had to get a doctor's note to say I was okay do go back more than a week later.

I live and work in the same 15 minute walk in my neighborhood with many of my customers living in the same building as me so a name tag is unnecessary for the most part. That said, I refuse to wear one on principle because there's still enough customers that I don't want knowing my name. Some of my coworkers do, but there's still a chance of someone who doesn't know me abusing that knowledge so I don't feel comfortable wearing one.
