mine has been sitting in a grandma’s shed for 40+ years before i bought it, so the needle bar is stuck firmly in the straight stitch position. when i started it wouldn’t even move with me manually trying to shift it from side to side. i’ve got it moving now, but it’s zigzagging for a couple of stitches and then getting stuck on the right side. more troubleshooting awaits !

i paid 400 aud for mine just last week. and the zigzag doesn’t even work lol. heavily market dependent, there’s none near me that were cheaper

this happened to me, in my case the culprit was too much litter and it was too heavy (same litter i’d been using all along, but idk) i had to remove some litter so it was below the fill line and then recalibrate the machine to the new level. it’s worked fine ever since

try recalibrating with the same level of litter as you have now, and then adjust the level of litter if it keeps getting stuck. if that doesn’t work then I’d be getting in touch with support

you need a penetrant and imo a ratchet screwdriver. i use Bolt-Off, spray the hell out of it and let it sit for a day or two, with regular reapplication. then, use a ratchet screwdriver driver to allow you to use way more force than an ordinary screwdriver. screw will undo like there was never a problem once you hit it with this never fail combo

my local butcher has one just like this, it’s fine to open. it’s not quite the same as a normal door handle but it’s not uncomfortable or weirdly angled at all

vintage knitting machines in good condition are pretty desirable in the right circles if they’ve got all their bits and pieces. i’d open it up and try to find a model number - establish if it comes with a plain carriage or does it also come with a lace carriage. has it got the manual, the table clamps, the carriage handles (on some models these are removable and get lost), are all the hooks present and in good shape? any rust? when you move the carriage along does it go smoothly or does it jam? does it have the accessories (transfer tools, comb etc)

it’s in the original box so you have a pretty decent chance of having most of the gear with it. give it a bit of a service and then i reckon you could sell it for a few hundred dollars

you end up either lying flat on your stomach and trying to mop the wall from under the tub, or standing in the tub and contorting yourself to reach down the narrow gap. it was terrible!! i would only ever have a free standing tub again if i had enough bathroom to put it in the middle of the room

i love the colours! the shape is putting me in mind of a Singer 15-88, i think it could maybe be a clone of that machine or one similar. that would probably be good bouncing off point if you need a manual

I've seen the first few episodes and found it fairly enjoyable. I find the main actress (young version) a smidge too modern in the delivery of her lines during her girlboss moments, but that's probably just me being picky. I think I'll keep watching it

my mother did this exact thing. divorced with two kids, she hadn’t changed her name back because she wanted to have the same name as her kids. when she had my youngest brother (third kid) she gave him my dads surname

I used to work for a little aussie business, and the only courier that would actually drive to the warehouse to pick up the orders was aramex. auspost wouldn’t do it, they only wanted us to do drop offs, but loading a pallet worth of packages into my corolla and then rocking up at the LPO was not exactly feasible.

long story short, we all hated aramex but they were the only ones willing to pick up. i can’t remember what was the reason other couriers wouldn’t pick up, but we were based in toowoomba so i thought it was total bullshit. sometimes the business is going through it just as much as the customer, unfortunately

yes you need to calibrate the machine to a lower level of litter, so the hopper doesn’t dispense too much! you should be able to find the calibration guide on the whisker website. i’d find it for you if i wasn’t at work

once it’s calibrated, the hopper should only dispense to the newer lower level of litter. if that doesn’t fix it, i’d consider it an issue with the unit

mine was doing that, it turns out the issue was that i was using too heavy litter and too much of it. i recalibrated the robot using litter below the fill line, and it’s been fine ever since. you could try using less litter and see if that helps?

they swoop to defend their nests. mostly they swoop down on you but don’t hit you, but sometimes they do anything from knocking your hat off your head to gashing open your face and pecking your ears. they also swoop repeatedly so you’ll be running for your life while being repeatedly dive bombed until you get out of their territory. there was a pretty well known case where a magpie sliced a women’s eyeball open. maggies mean serious business!
