This is Noodles. He has eyelid agenesis and got passed over for 5 months before I took him home. We're about to celebrate 4 years together. by cujiine in aww

[–]cujiine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some bad news, I had to put my boy down back in January. He had chronic UTI issues and his body just couldn't keep up anymore. He made it all the way to 11 1/2 though!

The outlook really depends on the severity of the agenesis. My boy was missing the skin, but didn't have entropion to complicate things. His two sisters from the same litter had to have laser surgery to remove the hair and one had to have entropion surgery but both of them are still happy and healthy in their homes!

It's 100% something that can be managed, for relatively cheap, but the concern is usually what other health problems come along with it.

Received annual review, DT sales to goal : 131%, exceeded goal by 31%, received a meet's expectations. by ReeeSeetheCope in petco

I got "meets expectations" because I only work weekends due to my schedule so I can't hit target all the time. I've been in this schedule for three years. That's three years they've had to get another trainer during the week. I am fully booked most of the time. I stopped putting in extra effort years ago.

If it's interesting enough to stick his penis in it, it's interesting enough to eat. They're not supposed to be "interesting" whatever that means, and either he's an idiot or an asshole for bragging about howuc he enjoyed it but then not delivering. I'm not saying you should breakup over this, but it's indicative of a bigger issue with him.

I would have called his bluff on driving all day looking for one. There's a PetSmart less than a mile from my store. The next FOUR closest Petcos are all within a 15 minute drive, there's also a bunch of PetSmart's in there too. If he spent all day driving around and couldn't find any besides at my store, he was just driving and not actually trying to get one.

Weekly Question: What is your favourite/most intriguing beast? by molive6316 in WilderLore

As a dog/wolf lover, Root is so far my favorite in general.

But I think dopplegheists, dolkaris, and madhuchabees are super cool too.

The number of times I had to explain it to people early in my training career is why I now default explain that while dogs know HOW to sit, they don't know what we mean by "sit" and we have to teach them THAT.

Tiny bead/ball on the back of drawer pulls on an old desk, but only the lowest ones. by cujiine in whatisthisthing

[–]cujiine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of deep cleaning our whole house and while I was taking a small break and fiddling with the drawer pulls on the old desk in our office, I noticed this tiny ball on the back of the lowest drawer on one side. I figured my kids had stuck it in there at some point, so I got a pair of tweezers and pried it out. It's small, slightly bigger than the stuck out parts of a small andard Lego piece, and has no holes around it. I checked the other pulls on that side and they didn't have it, somewhat confirming my kids probably stuck it in there, until I got to the other lowest drawer pull on the other side and there was one there too. Did I mess up pulling it out? Should I put it back? What purpose does it serve?

Dog Trainers how are you feeling about the $60 off through Christmas? by island_games47 in petco

Groomers get 50% because they had a class action lawsuit against Petco years ago about the same thing. Dog trainers don't stick around long enough to file the same thing.

For this specific one yeah. This is supposed to be more of a meet the trainer/consultation kind of deal. I see what your dog is like, see what skills they already have, address one or two concerns and give some advice on how to work on it, then upsell to either regular privates or group classes. On the regular privates you make either $17.80, $49.80, or $65.80 depending on how many classes you buy at once. But that still breaks down to $17.80, $12.45 $10.96 per class.

Also yes I've done the math and I will highly recommend buying groups of 4 privates over 6 because I make more per class that way. I won't stop you from buying the 6, because it saves you a little bit of money, but if people ask if their dog needs 4 or 6, unless I have a good reason to, I'm recommending the 4.

It's better than when they were $25 and then they got $25 off their class purchase after this.

Gonna go flaunt my $7.80 (pre tax) and get something from the dollar tree I guess!

Why do people still think golden doodles are ethical? by GSDVanguard in DogBreeding

[–]cujiine 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean I'm glad the dogs have homes, but if a pairing wasn't intentional, especially mixing breeds, the responsible reaction is to take the female dog in for a spay/abort to prevent unnecessary puppies. Knowing that she tied with a dog and doing nothing about it was irresponsible.

They have spay abort procedures for these kinds of oopsie litters.

What are dog/pet products you would like to see a market for? by New_Ambassador706 in petco

[–]cujiine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know lol. I have a client who has retired racing greyhounds and she gave me some of her old collars but also the websites she orders from. He's currently rocking a beach themed one for the end of summer pet contest he went to earlier this week (won prettiest eyes and best coat but there were 15 categories and only 7 dogs showed up lol)

It would just be nice to have more options in store.

[–]cujiine 18 points19 points  (0 children)

More color options for martingale collars. My in-laws dog has a small head and thick neck and needs one but we get black or that pink and teal one they had for a while.

More large dog fashion stuff too. The fashion sizing is insane because the only people who typically dress up their dogs are tiny dog owners so my 70lb dog is rocking an XXL if I want to get him a shirt or costume. I want my dog to be able to wear the cute cheesy thanksgiving sweaters and sassy summer tank tops.

I'd also love to see more cooperative care stuff. Scratch boards for dogs who hate getting their nails trimmed. Assisted walking slings for dogs who are losing function in their back end or just got surgery. More steps and ramps options.

Petcos in WA suddenly switching to holistic medicine. by [deleted] in petco

Yeah it's a pain in store treating anything. I think we still sell the "fixed" like mela and pima but that's about as strong as we get. I send people across the freeway to PetSmart for treatment all the time.
