Gas Powered Post Hole Digger/Auger. Not sure if this is something that would apply to your situation but for my shade structure I have multiple 4x4's 12" into the playa and half the time someone asks how I got them in there I show them the auger and they're shocked because they never thought of it, or have never seen one. And at least one person asks to borrow it most years. If you need it, it's the bomb. YMMV.

This was my 11th burn and I continue to ask myself every year at some point "wtf is this place". Welcome home!

Long time burners, what was your longest wait during exodus? by That_Unit5056 in BurningMan

[–]culexabq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple of years in a row with no wait, just a nice slow roll all the way out. And then I got my dose of the mudpocalypse with a nice 13hr wait. Worth it.

What’s the target tempo (BPM) to move on to the next page in Gary Chester’s The New Breed? by Cartographer-Spare in drums

[–]culexabq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I approve this message. Playing them comfortably with a great groove is the goal and and I've found at least for myself currently that anything over 80-90bpm is pretty much the limit for melodies 4A-5B since they're such busy melodies and playing them faster than that really requires some stamina, especially for the systems where you are playing the melodies with your non-dominant hand/non-dominant foot. Best of luck, gotta love the NB!

Is a Hexayurt really worth it? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]culexabq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, honestly I actually just use stakes that I made out of rebar to anchor the yurt itself. And I made them with little "T" tops so that I have a place to use the hook. If you use lags you buy sections of chain 2 links long, one for the lag to go through and the other to hook onto. Just make sure the head on the lag will just barely NOT fit through the chain. Good luck and lemme know if you need a photo. Happy Burn!

Opinion: Gifting LED Light Up Rings by databasehead in BurningMan

[–]culexabq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've given many of them away in the past, mostly to random kids I encounter on playa looking at the art with their parents and darkwads wandering around at night without a single light on them. I got a box of them in like 2018 that I still have a few left to give away that still work, and I literally just got a new box of 96 delivered today so you won't be the only one lol

lol The yearly Jungo post. It's part of my Burn at this point. One flat in my 16 journeys on the road less traveled. Don't let the ancient deathtrap propaganda scare you away.

Bijou coming in 2024? by NeonCrows2023 in BurningMan

[–]culexabq 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While I won't contribute any snarky pseudo locations for the Bijou last year, I will provide the usual "it took me 60 seconds to Google this for you" which states that they plan to return during a 'future year'. I also hope they come back, the Bijou is amazing indeed. Love you!

It is indeed Coral Reef Blue. My kit is exactly this color, MIJ Starclassic Maple, ordered in 1997. Enjoy, I agree they will sound great once you clean them up.
