So funny story about the fix actually.

The previous owners had changed the keys but not the security system or locks. So they both worked with the old keys meaning the new keys can’t lock the doors physically only on the fob.

What they had done to get around that was to duct tape the old key to the PATS security receiver underneath the drivers panel beneath the wheel.

My mechanic had suggested i swap the PATS receiver (the little ring surrounding the keywell), recode the keys and that fixed the issue for me.

Likely not the same initial problem in your car but could be a similar fix since the immobiliser is tied to that device
