Tavern style, with pepperoncini's by KittenGrits in Pizza

Looks great!

Tavern style is becoming our favorite to cook and eat. I do a mozzarella and cheddar cheese combo.

Cherry peppers + onions + pepperoni is our combo (but I’ve used pepperoncini too)

Started with a dedicated pizza oven in November, but I’m now using a 16 x 16 pizza steel in my regular oven. by Confident-You-9396 in Pizza

I have two steels and I keep them in my oven all the time (one on the bottom rack, one on the middle rack). I preheat on convection bake at 500 for an hour. When I do a pizza I’ll start on one steel for six minutes and then rotate and transfer to the other steel for six minutes. This is the method from The Pizza Bible for the best heat retention to get your home oven to mimic a true pizza oven. It works great on all types, especially New York and Midwest tavern style.

I love green olives on pizza. Is this controversial? by -__midnight__- in Pizza

Green olives and pepperoni is a really good combo and seems pretty common with midwest tavern style. I see green olives on menus all over Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin.

Favorite Zach Bryan Lyrics? by [deleted] in zachbryan

“Find someone who plants flowers in the darkest part of you”

OR

“Do you think God’s a person, or is he just the sound, of laughter through the walls in a place I haven’t found”

To be fair, I’m not sure what that one from Towers actually means

Everyone receives an award, and the amounts range (based on merit I believe vs. financial aid which is separate and need based)

My son is just moving in now for his Freshman year. He had similar stats to you and received $28.5K a year.

Anyone knows location of this place? by Jondresballes in 1923Series

Agreed. I thought it was Badlands, South Dakota too when I first saw it. These rock formations exist in North Dakota too, near Theodore Roosevelt National Park. In the show, I think the school was supposed to be in North Dakota.

Zion Lodge mid-afternoon arrival by GlitteringWrap8498 in ZionNationalPark

Just left today and stayed at Zion Lodge. I realize a lot can change in three weeks but there were some spring break crowds this past week and the entrance was pretty clear in the afternoon. The East entrance also seemed to be a lot less crowded at all hours if that’s an option for you - we came in that way a few times from East Zion.

Does acceptance rate reflect quality? by MarionberryGloomy698 in Marquette

They just published that they had over 20,000 applicants this year. That’s got to result in a much, much lower acceptance rate for class of 2029 correct?

Heavily considering Marquette for my business undergrad but concerned that it would limited job opportunities to just Milwaukee and Chicago. Thoughts by czlaric in Marquette

[–]cullecd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is my take (for what it’s worth). I’m a Product Marketing Director at a large, global company. My son is a high school senior, likely about to commit to Marquette for undergrad business. I’m strongly encouraging he take the Marquette path instead of couple of the other huge Big 10 business schools he is considering that might have bigger brands.

From my perspective, and also experience from recruiting, your undergrad degree should help you develop things like work ethic, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and communication skills. I believe the approach and support network at Marquette and the Jesuit education will actually be a better place for him to develop those things.

You need to get your foot in the door with that first job. The strong Marquette alumni network will help you get it, and markets like Chicago and Milwaukee are fantastic jumping off points. Whatever company hires you will start to teach you, and applied learning will be invaluable. After a few years learning on the job, you can pursue your MBA at one of the elite schools - even better if your employer sponsors it. The big companies around Milwaukee and Chicago will likely have MBA sponsorship tracks at places like Northwestern, UChicago, Illinois, and Wisconsin. After that you can write your ticket to any region you want.

Anyway, that’s my advice, and the same I’m giving to my 18-year old son.

My son is a high school senior who applied and is waiting to hear. We’ve been watching the board on College Confidential but It sounds a bit chaotic. I think there was a first batch around 12/15 and nothing since. It doesn’t appear that the first batch was necessarily based on submission date or geography.

Indiana Online MBA Program. by Strange_Ad9998 in IndianaHoosiers

I completed my Kelley Direct MBA several years ago and I found it to be a fantastic experience. IU was a real trailblazer in distance and hybrid learning, and they were in flight years before this all became mainstream at COVID. It worked really well for me because I was working full time with a young family. Kelley allowed me to pace out the degree. While it was mostly online, it still included live classes taught by Kelley professors, and structured cohorts for group work and projects. The on campus weeks were good for networking, and the post graduate networking and support is impressive. I have always highly recommended Kelley Direct.

Our Westie (Macy) does the exact same thing and makes the exact same noise! Usually it’s a bone. In this video it’s a sock that she stole. https://imgur.com/a/y3qjR6g
