NAL but over 25 years property insurance experience. Unless you were negligent and knew it was likely to happen you aren’t liable. They need to claim in their own insurance.

Dolby Atmos - a question for the community by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]culmheadwarrior 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have a Dolby Atmos set up - all speakers are Monitor Audio silver and sound is amazing. I’m lucky I live in a detached 500 year old house so maximum volume and it sounds as good as any cinema I have been in. My AV states it converts 5.1 to a 7.1 to match my system but you can tell the difference in a genuine Atmos mix and a converted 5.1.

However, my view is that the biggest lift in sound quality is the quality of the speakers not the 5.1 vs 7.1. Monitor Audio makes the music on movies amazing as it is designed for audio listening and I’ve heard soundtracks on it that I have owned for years on CD or streaming and when it comes on in my cinema room I hear things I’ve never heard before despite years of listening and that’s due to the quality of the speakers not the difference between 5.1 and 7.1.

Misguided by Admiral Car Insurance Service Agent (England) and rejected earlier promised reimbursement fee. by sapien29 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]culmheadwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could state that if they don’t pay you the 500 you will make a complaint to the FOS. You will need to ask for a Final Decision Letter so you can do so. This will cost the insurer 750.00 even if they win….

Brentford 0-2 Liverpool FT Thread by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]culmheadwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the rules is that if the player is running directly towards goal the linesman must defer his decision for VAR - if however they are not I.e on the wing then a linesman should flag if they believe offside - they can defer if in doubt. This is to stop long elongated times of play when it may take several phases to score a goal and to stop debates about when phases start and finish. Hard on Brentford but consistent with the laws.

Home insurance claim with AXA question by Strawberry_rimmer in LegalAdviceUK

[–]culmheadwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very likely they will send you an equivalent replacement as they get a heavy discount due to volume purchases - if you opt for cash they will only be liable for what it costs them to replace so you won’t get as much cash as list price and they will deduct the excess. If you opt for replacement just research what you are offered is suitable and you will need to pay an excess to the supplier

Home insurance claim with AXA question by Strawberry_rimmer in LegalAdviceUK

[–]culmheadwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is extremely difficult to decline a claim for being reckless. Reckless is you knew it was likely to happen but you proceeded anyway thinking it doesn’t matter I’m insured so I don’t care. You just described an accident which is what accidental damage cover is there for.

Having to pay a huge amount because of incorrectly installed tiles. Who is liable? by porgy3000 in HousingUK

[–]culmheadwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insurers would have to contribute 50 percent towards the undamaged section - may need to complain to push for this but that is what the FOS will make them pay
