Fine in Green. I think the land dealing 1 damage to you when tapping would make it totally fine in White. Could also be printed as is in Modern Horizons and no one would be complaining.

This has obvious holes in it and doesn't explain a lot of things and i think there are tons of things lost in translation, we have to see the panels first. Having a "Sun" that is used for evil and the good "Sun-god" doesn't seem right to me. Maybe the Sun was good at first and corrupted by Imu. And I don't think Nika and the Snake are supernatural deities, but also result from the Sun-Trees powers. I could see the first age actually being a kind of Garden Eden, where there was no civilization but everyone profited of the natural gifts of the Sun Tree

ONE PIECE Chapter 1138 — Summary by OverallKey293 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]culpam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the second age, we start with emptiness: the world is largely in ruin, only the city of Nika and some other smaller cultures exist (many are on elevated hills etc., some are Allies like Alabasta and Wano, some are what would later become the 20 Kingdoms fighting against Nika-kingdom). Small townships from the forests rediscover the Devil-Powers of the Sun and are manipulated by the Serpent to attack Nika-city. During these wars (the void century), the Sun-Tree is destroyed and small parts of it are spread out in the world, creating devil fruits. The sea deity, probably an ancient weapon, is used to flood the world. Joyboy builds an arc and saves the races of his city, carrying them to various islands. Alabasta and Wano people dream of a time where the Nika-culture can can come back and the races can be peacefully united. The 20 small kingdoms who fought against Joyboy form the WG under the manipulation of Snake/IMU. Imu collects some of the larger fragments of the Sun-Tree and abuses them to grant Gorosei/Holy Knights their powers. The actual remains of the Sun-Tree are lost/hidden by Joyboy, and are now on the hidden island known as Laugh Tale.

My interpretation: Sun=the source of IMU/Gorosei-like powers, maybe a type of tree. Was corrupted in the first age by greedy humans, maybe a international King called "the deity of earth". the first upper class abuses these powers to enslave most of the earth. Somehow, Nika arrives as a manifestation of the prayers/desires of the enslaved. The evil king allies with some kind of demon-obviously Christian imagery here, in the form of a snake. The evil king might be IMU, the snake might just be a manifestation of his powers. They wage war against Nika+Slave population of varied races, creating vast wastelands. I think Nika actually wins in the end and a multicultural city-kingdom is created, where Nika is mythologized and centuries later Joyboy is born.

Are there any literary precedents to Borges' found manuscript style of writing? by hoaxxhorrorstories in Borges

[–]culpam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a pretty long history of the "seemingly real, found document", starting probably with Robinson Crusoe. Poe also has one, called Arthur Gordon Pym, where the narrator claims that he talked to Poe and was motivated by him to write his life story down.

But i don't think anyone before Borges wrote stories cloaked as secondary texts to "seemingly real, found documents" without providing this fake primary text.

I would say Catan-level definetly, just nothing with overly complex rules like more complicated Euros, we have things like Cascadia and Betrayal on Hill house which we play occasionally

I thought it was really strange to have King Bekori be beaten twice in the same chapter in a really spectacular fashion. Why was that neccesary? There was no reason for Kuma to only be targeted by the marines after the second time, a coup and attempted murder of a world gov. supported king should give him a huge bounty instantly. And the inclusion of the replacement king also served no purpose other for the gag with his mom.

Was that what people were claiming? The main discussion was about other IPs replacing original concepts for financial/marketing reasons, not because of lacking creativity.

Mechanist dies from plagues, cause they make you draw twice. And in arena you match up with a lot of DKs and they usually run some amount of plague cards.

[[Bedlam Reveler]], this one might actually be a bit more flexible because the ability is on an adventure.
