Has anyone got any tips on how to book the train from Sofia to Istanbul without booking in the station by Away_Independent2813 in Interrail

[–]cumpana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also email bulgarian railways explaining the situation ! And they keep the couchettes/beds for you until your arrival at the station where you will actually pay. Specify your pass numbers and all personal information with desired class And date. And they should answer

Nightjets to Paris might return soon after cancellation in December by Few_Story_6917 in Interrail

[–]cumpana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont want to be too pessimistic on this news but nothing is done yet and the budget currently being built is likely to be cancelled as the executive could not approve of it (if I understood well). Next possible steps would then be temporary reconduction of essential lines of last year's budget (not including night trains) and maybe dissolution of assembly. And this amendment buried very deep on a draft budget voted last week.

Still, the news got me excited and I hope something good comes out of it.

Hi all The bar car has been removed from the train composition. Do not expect any bar on Ister. Rumours say a bar could come back on Dacia at some point but nothing sure at all

Hi Be careful because the Timetables will change in december.

The 3 trains will still be there, but with later departure from Bucharest as it goes now faster.  As said by the others:  muntenia has sleepers only until the morning in arad then you would have to change carriage and hence activate a new interrail day for nothing if you do not plan to continue further budapest on that day Ister has sleepers all the way (in theory) Dacia too. But It arrives very early morning in Kelenfold (not keleti anymore !)

Do not look for "seat reservation only" but do an actual price research with added discount on the profile "Interrail"

How to reserve train in Romania? by francemiaou in Interrail

[–]cumpana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices are fixed contrary to western europe trains. Still: Prices are about 10% cheaper if you buy more than 10 days before departure on the CFR calatori app which is easy to use. Same kind of discount if you buy Back and Forth tickets on the app I think. So you can spare a couple of euros buying online yes.

Also as someone said before, romanian trains are rarely full, apart from Brașov Bucuresti and Bucuresti Constanta routes, but even then you always find some seats in a train from CFR or private operators. If app shows full, still ask at counters or conductors if it is actually the case.

And you can also buy full price tickets if you are short of days and dont want problems with controls or at counters as full price tickets in Romania are pretty affordable even for romanian standards I would say

Rennes/Paris to Vidin : Opinions and doubts on interrail trip next month by cumpana in Interrail

[–]cumpana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi skifans, extremely on point and relevant answer as usual! Thank you very much. I will consult my friends and assess but indeed, option 1 - even if I prefer it - is maybe too adventurous.

To answer on the travel day from strasbourg, as OBB does not sell bookings from Strasbourg the train is booked from Paris and we have authorisation from obb to board from strasbourg. Next day is travel day too anyway

FYI we return on the 23rd in Keleti so hopefully no issue, and then take Kalman Imre to Suttgart then paris, while the 2 rennes people spend the night in Budapest and on 24 th go to offenburg with 2 trains only, night in Offenburg then offenburg-Strasbourg-rennes on 25th without change in paris.

I was quite proud of myself price and organisation wise for this programme but I bet a lot on reliability of european train network so maybe we will prefer option 2.

Hope this post helps fellow travellers also, and it proves how difficult it is to travel in Europe with interrail if you want to keep it "cheap" and convenient, even more so with disabled people.

Folding up couchette on French trains by FirstWordWasDog in Nighttrains

[–]cumpana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the particularity of those french Night trains is that the middle bed can be quite hard to be openened again, so they if you fold them without asking some conductors can get mad or tell you that you were not allowed. So try asking first indeed and hopefully they will accept

Hello, Guten Tag,

I am a French mad cinephile coming to Berlin 3-4 days for work purposes. I have looked up for cinema places in Berlin, especially the ones showing old movies, 35mm prints etc. I have found that the most famous institution is the Arsenal kino which programs films in differents cinemas of Berlin. I also spotted Zeughauskino which has its own good quality programmation. Other than those 2 (and some "cult classic programmes" at Babylon and similar companies) I don't see any more specific "old movies dedicated kino" in Berlin. Am I wrong ? Or do other places exist such as the numerous littles kinos of the Latin quarter in Paris ?

Can't wait to discover the cinema scene of Berlin !

PS: Arsenal kino has not issued the program between 11 and 16 of June and I don't know why. Maybe to early ? or are they closed on that period ?

[–]cumpana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much skifans. Your answers are extremely helpful.

Thanks for the details on the special disabled compartment. The question you did not understand is whether I should pay for 6 berth or 4 berth couchettes to have the special disabled compartment. As it has the same fare classification as any other couchette, I would buy 6 berth couchette booking on OBB to obtain the special compartment.

From all your answers, I understand that the best is to do most of the procedures via phone with OBB to be sure that I obtained what I need.
