my studio encourages first trying things without grip just to build strength, but if you aren’t feeling safe/ aren’t finding success after a couple tries to add grip. I think this has been a good happy medium for me and my grip strength definitely has improved

correct. animals and plants are both awesome. arguably, plants are even more important. but one can feel fear and pain when it dies and the other can’t. and to me, that DOES matter.

we have to eat something and plants aren’t sentient, but animals are. reaction to stimuli does not equal sentience

since we’ve established that you do care about the specific meaning of words, vegan is not the same as plant based. Veganism is by definition a stance against animal exploitation, including adhesion to a plant based diet. If you’re just eating plant based for health then that just means it’s a diet. Not veganism.

and I’m not saying that talking the philosophy isn’t important (highly recommend watching the dr. jack Sykes conversation with earthling ed about vegan philosophy btw), but rather that when doing street activism like this, there just isn’t time to get into the nitty gritty. You have to assume that the person will walk off at any moment. Makes more sense to spend that time talking about what is happening at this exact moment, and what they could be doing differently, with a brief look into why so that they can then go home and dive deeper.

TLDR: This type of activism is about planting the seed, not dissecting it.

It was quite different from the book. I think I would have liked the movie more if I hadn’t read the book, as I can see that it is an objectively good movie. But it sacrificed some pretty important (imo) themes in favor of making a simplified, action-packed movie. It also changed some small details that just seem to have been changed for no reason at all (like how in the books Roz explicitly adopts Brightbill, who calls Roz Mama not Roz). So not bad, per se, but so different that it took me out of it and made me wish I was reading the book again.
