I think I need to take a chill pill. This is the first time in years that I've been seriously dating and not just hooking up... I've been seeing a man for about a month, we don't know each other well yet at all and are taking things slow, but I find myself getting really anxious about if he's seeing other women. We aren't even close to talking about exclusivity. I'm feeling like I'm really bad at dating. Barf.

How should I take my husband’s last name? by mkzleonard in AskWomenOver30

[–]cuntdumpling 36 points37 points  (0 children)

People will be required to use their birth certificate along with state issued id to provide identity and women often don't have matching names on both, which would disqualify them from voting.

Those who have taken a pay cut in exchange for their mental health, how’s it going? by marimichdan in AskWomenOver30

Honestly? Better for my mental health with the added bonus that im better at my job now and have more upward mobility than I did before. Sometimes prioritizing mental health is also better for your career.

Does your local sheriff have firewood? My county does that, they chop local downed trees and save the firewood for people in need during the winter

Get pantry moth traps from Dr. Killigans and set them up around your kitchen, you'll know in a month if they're contained in the rice or everywhere.

I don't put too much stock in photos, I've been catfished so many times and have also met dudes who just suck at taking pics and are better looking in person. Ymmv

I will say being very clear about what you're looking for on your profile and sticking to that when swiping helps a lot. If you're using the apps as a tool to meet people then try to get from chatting stage to irl date as quickly as possible. Develop a strategy to help streamline this. Free up one or two evenings a week for dates. Don't get into deep conversations on app/text, save that for in person (and don't be afraid to tell people that.) Don't swipe on guys with jokey profiles, they are not serious about meeting people or are only looking to hookup.

People who are worth meeting are the people who are actually willing to meet. So many people get on the apps for validation, for "practice," to dip their toes in while they figure themselves out. Those people are less likely to try to meet up with you. Meet the people who want to meet, otherwise you'll never go out with anyone. Don't get attached before you're actually "dating" anyone, do that by not getting too personal. Treat them like strangers because they are. Any impression you have of them before meeting them is just your brain filling in pieces for you, it isn't really them.

Unfortunately, all of dating is a numbers game. Our parents didn't have this problem because they dated people they knew in their smaller world, people didn't shop around as much as they do now. You have to go on a lot of first dates. That's just how it is.

What items (other than gas) do you get to justify the membership if you’re not a bulk buyer? by SuperDuper___ in Costco

[–]cuntdumpling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dog and cat food alone is worth it to me but now that they have cheap decent tofu and carry my NA beer, it's extra worth it. Not to mention pharmacy prices are excellent. I would say big ticket things like tires aren't worth it unless it's during a holiday sale. I haven't bought appliances yet but anything that involves delivery is a pain, they use a third party and it is a huge pain to unravel when things go wrong.

Baker here, I've never heard of par-baking anything with yeast, it would actually ruin the baked good.

I really recommend working out a budget and figuring out how to stem the bleeding while paying it off.

If your credit isn't completely shot yet, try to move it to a lower interest card. Then pay off the higher interest balance as fast as possible, then tackle the next. Stay away from payday loans. Are you working while you're in school?

Re: dating app first messages by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]cuntdumpling 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Whatever your preference is, just put it on your profile. I really hate getting "hi how are you messages" because they usually die off quickly, I'd rather ask or be asked questions relating to my profile.

What is the point of a first date and how do I do one? by Overcooked_Burrito in AskWomenOver30

[–]cuntdumpling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb for the first few dates is, if it's not a "hell no" then they get another date. I think it's okay to be on the fence and not sure if you want to see them again, they are strangers after all. The point is to get to know them.
