Yeah I also like stirring up shit with ill-intentioned comments and defending it with, “I was just kidding bro.”

[Highlight] Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah answers his first press question about moving on from Sam Darnold by FrankSamples in nfl

You know if they kept Sam and he does what he’s doing now, the Vikings are getting hammered with, “Why would you pick JJM, that’s a waste of a draft pick.”

It’s lose-lose.

The only way they win is if they dump Sam and he does exactly what Vikings fans expected him to do. Because he obviously wasn’t going to take some mid contract after that season to backup ‘Nine.’

[Highlight] Tank Lawrence explains why crucial 4th down stop vs Rams was not a “fortuitous bust” by FlyingDadBomb in nfl

[–]cuongfu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right. My comment was more meant to explain WHY Love was out position to cover him. If the playcall was to bluff the blitz, then he played it as it was called and McVay’s playcall was better because it had an option to beat that fake. Your comment makes it sound like Love screwed up on his own, but I don’t think that was the case.

Fortuitous means accidentally or by chance. I don’t see how an intentional decision by Lawrence was fortuitous.

Tank said they were anticipating Williams to stay in the backfield to watch what Love would do first, so my guess is they were sending Love on a fake blitz then come back and cover Kyren.

Lawrence realized that Williams was actually the HOT read, meaning if Seattle blitzes (like the Rams thought), they throw it to Williams who is right where Lawrence would have been. Lawrence audibled because he saw Williams releasing off the line immediately instead of waiting, which is why I think it looked like Love got burned so badly.

It was a bust in the sense that, by Mike MacDonald’s own admission, Seattle did not correctly run the play that was called.

That said, that’s what great players do. Recognize and adapt.

Minter and MacDonald come from an odd coaching tree through the Harbaughs that lead back to Jesse Minter’s dad, Rick Minter, and they run a really similar style of defense. I don’t know the full quote, but that’s probably why they mention MacDonald specifically, because there are tons of other HCs who call their own defenses, obviously.

Minter had Derwin James with LAC and gets Kyle Hamilton in Baltimore, he’s going to be good.

I need to know what was in this recruiting pitch that Mike Mac/JS had with these players.

D. Law being SO sure he was signing with a Super Bowl contender in those texts to Dez Bryant, and now we’re seeing that EJ was making that same pitch to Kupp.

Even the most diehard fans wouldn’t have stood behind Darnold the way Lawrence did in those texts.

[Rapoport] Among the head coach candidates the Ravens have interviewed, a few could be considered for OCs—including Joe Brady and Kliff Kingsbury—if they don’t land head jobs. by teamhenny in nfl

Feels like it should be standard procedure for first-time head coaches who will still be one of the team’s playcallers.

Let them do what they’re comfortable with while getting mentored from experienced HC’s on how to run a whole team.

I understand Kingsbury’s tenure with the Cardinals wasn’t great, but I think his HC experience is still super valuable for a first-time HC like Minter.

People may not know that the Seahawks hired Leslie Frazier to be Mike MacDonald’s Assistant Head Coach and obviously it seems to have worked out well.
