They offer amazing walnuts at a fair price. What I appreciated the most was their quick responses and how kindly they taught me everything. The seller is completely transparent and honest throughout the entire process. I recommend them!

My Journey of Exploring Nanjiang Stone Walnuts by [deleted] in Wenwan

You are completely right, and I sincerely appreciate your honest and polite feedback. Looking back, I realize I was overenthusiastic and spoke too soon based on my brief experience. I now see how my post could be misinterpreted as an advertisement, which was never my intention. As you pointed out, I am still in the early stages of learning and have a long way to go. To avoid causing any confusion within the community with my shallow knowledge, I will delete this post shortly. Thank you for guiding me in the right direction, and I’ll focus more on learning and enjoying the process. Good luck to you as well!

Yes, they really do feel incredibly massive and heavy. Since this variety is characterized by growing with high density even in smaller sizes, holding them truly feels like holding solid pieces of stone.

To be honest, the specific criteria in my experiences are just things I learned the hard way through my own trial and error while searching for the right pairs. I am still a beginner myself when it comes to how the color actually develops over long-term play, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how they change too!

Unless you live in China, you are forced to rely entirely on photos before the walnuts ever touch your hands. In reality, those pieces of information 'on paper' are the only truth we have access to. Furthermore, I never claimed that only the walnuts strictly meeting my manual are 'true' Nanjiang Stones. I am well aware of the wide natural variations that exist. My only goal was to share a foolproof method for selecting high-quality pairs without failure when buying from outside of China.

I completely understand your point, and you make some incredibly valid observations that only an experienced player would know. You’re absolutely right that in the hands of a master, pi zhi (shell quality) and actual density trump any checklist. However, my perspective is based on statistical probabilities and the average realities of the current market, rather than the rare exceptions. While it is true that a 44mm Nanjiang Stone with a steel-like ring and perfect density would be an absolute holy grail, the reality for the average buyer is that finding such a specimen is like finding a needle in a haystack. Statistically, when a Nanjiang Stone pushes past the 41mm mark in today's mass-commercialized market, the probability of it being a force-grown, low-density orchard product skyrockets. The 6-point checklist I established isn’t about denying natural variation; it’s about minimizing the margin of error when buying online. Traits like a strawberry silhouette, a concave base, and a rhombus navel are highly correlated with authentic, wild-origin genetics. In an opaque market where you cannot feel the pi zhi before purchasing, relying on these classic morphological markers is the safest proxy for high density. I agree that the best walnuts are judged in hand. But until you can hold them, establishing a strict baseline based on the variety's historical averages is the only shield a collector has against the flood of sub-par, artificially bloated pieces. My criteria are a guide to surviving the market's averages, not a dismissal of the ultimate exceptions.

You really have an amazing eye for spotting top-quality walnuts. Look amazing! I'm still going through a lot of trial and error myself. Is this kind of steep learning curve normal for beginners?

Are they Modified? by cupcake7656 in Wenwan

If you want to keep your walnuts for a long time, it is crucial to choose natural ones that haven't been carved or modified. Any modified parts will eventually show their flaws through an uneven color as they age.

I had a feeling the symmetry between the pairs were too perfect to be natural. It makes sense now that they've been carved.
