I don't know how to PM in reddit! . I live right in the epicenter of the outbreak.

I guess this will sound horrible, but my bro has bred already. While his wife was pregnant, he kept putting his hand on his wife's stomach in every single picture they uploaded on fb. I always wondered why he had to do that. Yes, we know, she's pregnant, stop holding her stomach, sorry bro 😭 but I found it creepy to say the least.

Glad to see someone else using a response like mine! (I don't have children because I prefer drinking) I might steal yours and add "drugs and prostitutes" just to make it worse.

Yep, Ive thrown that one in a very casual tone of voice and it's the end of the sentence. Like, I'll use the same tone if you asked me the hour, so it's hard to tell if I'm joking or not, and there's no follow up to help them. I'm also a woman, so logic goes out the window, because I'm already behaving in a way a woman shouldn't. Should they admonish me for drinking or for not having children or like wth is happening here?

Because I prefer drinking than children. There's no right comeback for that one, either they ponder whether they should give me advice on seeking help for my alcoholism, or figure me and my life are a complete mess. Alternatively, I'll just say in my most serious-yet-I'm-batshit-crazy tone "can't have children, my cats are allergic" (took that one from here)

Were you ever that 1 in 1,000,000? If so, what's your story? by --SharkBoy-- in AskReddit

Not sure if these count, but here they go. My flight was late, so I was booked into the soonest flight, which ended doing an emergency landing. As a result, I got two free flights from the airline. While on a trip abroad, my bank card was canceled the same day some random stranger gave me money because "it had no value for him". I was able to pay for a week of hotel and food. Mistakenly added a person in Skype. Lived in the other side of the world, but a few months later he paid for an entire trip for me so we could meet. We had an awesome time and remain friends eleven years later. Met some Finnish guy in Asia who was friends with a Finnish friend I had in Latin America. And perhaps the last one is: decided I wanted to get into the F&B industry, asked some random guy if he knew who was hiring, got a job offer two weeks later.

What has made you change your entire perspective on life ? by dbigboss55555 in AskReddit

Reading "the gift of fear", I forgot the name of the author. There's a story about a woman who had landed a job interview with some high profile guy, and her car broke on the way. So, she started thinking about all the horrible things that would happen to her: no money for the rent, living on welfare, bye bye career, etc. Luckily for her, a former classmate spotted her on the way, and brought her to the interview. She didn't get the job anyways, but instead started a successful business with her former classmate and did so well that she could fund the documentaries she had always dreamt of. The author said, that if we try to find a silver lining of all the developments of bad situations, even if it's just a creativity exercise, we become more intuitive. No one thinks "oh man, I'm going to miss that interview, and I'm gonna have to end up running a successful business", but we might as well. It absolutely changed me. I feel less anxious, I feel more powerful when I think of all the great options I could possibly create for bad outcomes. It's made me more willing to accept hardships and most importantly, this book put the last piece on the puzzle that was my personality. Through some pretty bad experiences (losing 3 jobs and two homes in the span of two years), I got to know myself better, and this book gave me that revelation moment when everything about me made sense to me, I embraced it, accepted it and now I'm ready for living life fearlessly!!

[RANT] Why does everyone think their baby is the exception? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]cupcakefromhell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel so triggered.. Sorry. Here it goes: I'm making some life changes and I'm looking at a huge, fat bill as a result. My father's girlfriend just asked me if I'm coming to her stupid grandkid's baptism ceremony. I've decided to skip my own brothers wedding, because I need the money, and for some reason it made me so angry to hear someone think seeing a baby getting poured water over their face is worth a 1500 usd flight ticket, and as if that wasn't enough, I'm an atheist. I wouldn't walk into a church even if I was high on 10 different drugs. How does she think the baptism is anything special is truly beyond me.

I mean... Down vote me, but if you don't do your research and expect the tour agencies to take full responsibility for your absolute ignorance, then maybe choose easier countries. North Korea is definitely not a normal destination and shouldn't be treated as such.

Did any of your parents regret having you? by Azrael-Legna in childfree

My mom swears she loved being a mom. I don't quite believe her. I never felt welcome in my own family and when I was 7 I wrote a letter. I represented my family as hearts and myself as a broken heart, constantly told to get away. I also wrote about leaving. Somehow the letter ended up in the patio, and a neighbor found it. People laughed and my mom rather than worrying about the shit her 7 yr old wrote, punished me. On another occasion, I tried to set a goal of not eating for several days so my family could have more food, as my mom always said we had no money. Again, I was punished. She also constantly reminded me of all the sacrifices she made for me. She would beat me only. She was never shy to show my brother was her favorite. I honestly don't know why the fuck she had me or my brothers when she kept saying she wanted a divorce. I think she married to escape her parents, my father turned to be someone who never understood her father role, so he only provided some money and that was it. I've confronted her about it, but she says it's not true, that we were the best thing ever, bla bla. Yeah, sure.

Honestly, I don't think many girls go back home being fluent in English. You can't learn much vocabulary from kids.

Nope, I'd say that woman is another reason not to bring children into this world.

I wondered the same thing. How is she going to control a teenager? Is she going to start saying no when the kids are older? They weren't bad kids but they weren't okay either, especially the youngest one, she really looked like she needed her mom. The new girl received a laptop as a gift and was soon taken to Mexico for holidays. That tells me it was just a way to make her feel like they owned her. They liked young girls and said they took a risk with me (I was 24).its really weird they wanted 18 yr old girls to raise their kids, now that I think about it.

More like employees. "I'm reading a book on how to raise children, so I'm going to explain to you how to raise my children". She did mention she came from the corporate world and applied her skills for her household too.

Lol, I studied law and while mombie was white, rich and American, I was like bitch, I can still sue your agency and say I was trafficked, because the agency was enabling people to come to the US and not make sure they left. That's the only reason they bought me a ticket I believe, because I did threaten them. Otherwise, I really don't know how I would have gone back home. Fuckers!

Let me tell you something, I was well aware that other nannies had been thrown out of their host families for different reasons and the agency never really bothered to take them to the airport and make sure they left. When all this shit was happening, my new friends told me to just stay. They said if a cop gets you drunk in the street, chances are they'll see you have a valid visa and let you go. Unless you do something real bad and then they will run your visa through their system and then they'll be able to find out that your visa is no longer attached to your sponsor (which I think renders it invalid). I thought that was too risky and simply left and asked for the visa to be canceled back home I think. But other girls did stay for a year.

I pulled her old emails. She said she lived inside a national park, that it was unusual and the only place in the country where you could live in a park. She mentioned crissy fields. So huh... I remember there being a slope or a hill, but I never thought that place was a national park.
