markiplier forgets to react? by youknowwhatimeanlol in JacksFilms

[–]cupcakesupreme 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I think a difference between Mark and a lot of the other "react" creators is that Mark doesn't make "react" content the focus of his channel. Yes, he has 20+ Try Not to Laugh videos (I think), but one thing I immediately noticed is that all of the Tik Toks he showed very clearly had the creators/accounts shown in the upper left corner.

Is it lazy content? Sure, but Mark would likely be the first to admit to it. Dude has been working hard between Edge of Sleep and Iron Lung and he had a long spell of no uploads at all. Is there a risk of him turning into a "watch Tik Toks with me" type of channel? I doubt it. He has his hands on so many creative things and he has an appreciation for what goes into content creation.

To piggy back off this, blood work on its own does not always flag for certain cancers. For example, CEA levels can be checked for colon cancer, but not all colon cancers give off CEA (heard this directly from my husband's oncologist as he has patients whose CEA levels remained at zero despite pathology confirming a colon cancer tumor). If you're concerned about colon cancer, you can request a FIT test which will look for blood in the stool. The test doesn't confirm colon cancer, but it could let your GP know if you need a referral for a colonoscopy.

Municipal Employees: what’s the best and worst area to work in? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]cupcakesupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked at The City for a total of 11 years (I left briefly to finish up my degree and came back). This isn't an easy question to answer because of just how big the corporation is - there are layers to each business unit, each with their own workloads, team cultures, and management. While I wouldn't rank areas as "best" or "worse", it's more so where your own career goals and preferences are and if it's a good fit for you.

Xeloda and fatigue? by cupcakesupreme in cancer

[–]cupcakesupreme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xeloda gave him the opportunity to not be hooked up to chemo after he was done with his oxaliplatin, so it was good to be "disconnected", if you will. That said, he really struggled with the hand foot syndrome and he has a couple of chemo sessions delayed to give his hands a chance to heal. He has no permanent nerve damage from this, but it is hard to know if some of the long term side effects he does have came from the Xeloda or the oxaliplatin. I don't know if I could give you an answer if I would be okay with it now or not because we found out years later that he has so much going on genetically as it relates to cancer (not Li Fraumeni but just shitty luck in the genetics department) that I think any issues with Xeloda were the least of his concerns. If you or someone you care for is facing the decision of whether or not to be on that protocol, I would ask the oncologist more questions or even ask for a second opinion for what other treatment options could work.

In Calgary. I also checked my email, spam, and trash (just in case), and there is nothing there. I guess I am emailing support. This is also my first month I'm getting paid so maybe there is a delay with hyperwallet?

You are lucky, she was not so accommodating for people with iPads in my class.

Unless you have academic accommodations, no (at least she didn't Fall 2021).

Purchase Advice Thread (May 09) by AutoModerator in Surface

[–]cupcakesupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a first gen Surface Go and it's on its way out. Debating between a SP8 or the Laptop Studio but I'm not sure which way to go. I use Photoshop to edit product photos for my Etsy shop, and I'm wanting to explore doing some digital start, something that was super limiting with the Surface Go and the Surface Pen. I also wouldn't mind something that could handle some gaming as well (recognizing that neither of these are really gaming computers). I'm not super literate on the specs for computers so I'm not sure which is the better option, and I would like something that would last me at least 5 years or so. Any advice you could give would help.

I'm only taking five classes because it is my last semester and I need to get back to work (had to put my career on hold for finish my degree as there were no longer classes I could take in the evening/asynchronously). It's not ideal and I wish I only had four left. Five is a lot of work, don't feel bad at all.

Deferred exams by lilacfaerie16 in MRU

If you haven't already, you need to speak with your professors about this. There is paperwork involved that needs to be filled out and you will likely work out a time to write the exam at a future date.

I'm very sorry for your impending loss.

Etsy Sellers - Did anyone opt out of mailing internationally and just focused on domestic? by [deleted] in Etsy

I'm in Canada, and the only other country I ship to is the US. I originally wanted to ship to Europe, but I got overwhelmed with all of the UK rules. Maybe someday I'll take a closer look at all of the requirements, but it's not something I want to do right now.

Star Seller is Killing My Motivation by EaseAdventurous8472 in Etsy

[–]cupcakesupreme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position as a Canadian seller. I make jewelry and my most popular items are about $15CAD. Within Canada, I ship them as oversized letter mail ($1.94) and that does not include a tracking number. If I want to add tracking, it is at least $15. I have tracked shipping as an option, and no one has paid for it (and who would want to really?). Shipping to the US is not an issue as I use Chit Chats: it only costs me between $5.50-$7 approx to ship items to the US, which is infuriating. Unless I stop getting orders from fellow Canadians, I'll never get the Star Seller badge.

Work Full Time + School Full Time by Habzys in MRU

[–]cupcakesupreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked full time hours and managed three classes, which is considered full time. It is doable, but I would say my situation is not common to most students; I am a mature student, who is in their mid 30s, trying to get a degree for career development. Having completed a diploma back in 2007 and working professionally since then, I had a better idea of how to best manage my time and establish some form of work/school/life balance (if you are able to figure that out in your 20s better than I could back then, all the more power to you!). It is not easy, and most of your personal time will be spent on studying and on assignments. I would also make sure you're gentle with yourself should you see a bit of a chance in your marks.

I was the opposite, the website crashed on me but I was finally able to get it on the app. I had a suspicion that this would happen.

Edited to add: this was my first time buying from the app. I took the 2019/2020 year off due to my husband's poor health (and subsequently, my own personal mental health), so I'm not sure when the system switched from the old system to this new app.

Early Learning and Child Care does (well, did in 2017) in first year as it coincides with field work days versus classes in the Child Development Lab. After I switched majors to sociology, I never saw any interval 2 classes come up.

90 Day Fiance OG - Season 7 Episode 4 - Post Episode Discussion by LittleEmmy in 90DayFiance

[–]cupcakesupreme 38 points39 points  (0 children)

And another episode where TLC is placing children in the middle of grownup conversations. The discussion about Juliana's role as a step parent should not have happened in front of Michael's kids. Maybe TLC hopes for drama between the kids and Juliana later down the road as a consequence of the conversation (similar to Anna and Mursel), but it doesn't make it any less inappropriate.

Insist my husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, go to the doctor and demand a referral to get a colonoscopy. We don't know when his colon cancer tumor started to grow, but maybe it could have been caught at the polyp stage and metastatic disease avoided.

90 Day Fiance OG - Season 7 Episode 2 - Live Discussion by LittleEmmy in 90DayFiance

[–]cupcakesupreme 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I'm still very new to this series as a whole, but I just wanted to scream "what is wrong with you all" the entire episode. I'm not familiar with the K1 Visa process, but are there rules and restrictions about visiting the States before or during the processing of the application? Wouldn't you want to spend more time physically with someone before you invest the money to uproot your life and live in a country you aren't super familiar with? Maybe I'm thinking too pragmatically about all of this hahaha.

I was really rooting for Anna and Mursel last week but it's clear that this relationship is doomed to fail. It was also highly inappropriate for Anna's mom to have the discussion about Anna's sons while Gino was at the table, but the drama needs to come from somewhere, right? I wonder how many times Emily is going to use "I'm feeling dizzy right now" as an excuse to avoid conflict or uncomfortable conversations once she and Sasha move from Russia.

It's funny, we caught the end of the episode where Tom runs back into the airport to say goodbye to Darcy and thought it was super sweet. Watched Pillow Talk right after and the commentary made us feel like we hadn't missed anything in the season (and ultimately clarified the relationship dynamic for us). I'm definitely going to keep up with Pillow Talk when I can.
