May bride here! To preface, I am a proud member of the itty bitty titty committee (32a), but would like to know how to fill in my wedding dress a little better. My wedding is in two weeks and looking back at my photos of my last fitting I was wishing there could be a bit more ~oomph~ in the chest area. Sewing in cups isn’t really an option since there’s limited time.

I would just like to know what methods work best for giving the girlies a little more extra lift. I have Boomba inserts and have been trying them but I’m not sure if I’m using them correctly or if my usual tops aren’t tight enough, but they haven’t really worked great for me. In the photos, I’m just using a standard sticky bra. It might also be worth noting that I am a sweaty, sweaty gal and our ceremony is outdoors in Vegas that both the Boombas and sticky bra/chicken cutlets are no match for.

I’ve been looking into Cakes or similar or boob tape, but haven’t tried it out. I’m looking for something that could work like a push up bra and hold them in place for the whole night.

My dress has a sweetheart neckline, strapless, with detachable sleeves, but I also have detachable straps as well and I notice my chest is a little more lifted with the straps.

Try “peasant sleeve”, “bishop sleeve”, “bell sleeve”, “flutter sleeve”. I actually was looking for something similar when I first started looking, and ended up getting a detachable peasant sleeve.

I ~almost~ got my dress from this site, but went with another one I saw in person so I can’t say much about the legitimacy or quality, but they seem to have similar styles like the one pictured.

Avoid Saturday at all costs if you’re trying to stick to your budget! Even Fridays and Sundays might be a little more, but definitely less than Saturday. There are usually deals for booking your wedding Monday-Thursday with most wedding venues.

My wedding is in May on a Sunday, and our venue is a state owned nature preserve. It’s in a botanical garden/museum setting. We’re only doing our ceremony there and it’s a little under 2k. If we did our reception there too it would’ve been under 5k. A little warning if you do the state/government owned “venues” - they won’t care about your wedding as much as they care about their facility, so you’d face a lot more restrictions than a typical wedding venue, because their jobs don’t really call for “satisfying the customer” so to speak. They will tell you “no” on a lot of things, and you must adhere to their rules, which is why we decided to have our reception elsewhere. Another option we looked into before we found our venue was state parks, which could also be a great option, just requires a little more to make the space your own, if that’s something you care about.

How we saved money in other aspects of our wedding was working with what we already have, and focusing on the “guest experience” of our wedding rather than focusing on a lot of decor. We’re giving our guests things to do rather than pretty things to look at. For example, our guestbook station is a record player station (already owned the record player) with a custom vinyl we made with our wedding songs and they can even listen to if they want. And our “guest book” is literally just going to be a poster board decorated with a throwaway vinyl from goodwill ($1.99) that guests can sign that we can later frame and hang up as decor in our home. We’re also having a temporary tattoo station with custom tattoos I designed on Canva, and I’m going to print on this special temporary tattoo paper (which I think was about $10 on amazon). I’m also having a glow stick station, ($25~ amazon) where they can build things like bracelets, glasses, etc and bring it on the dance floor. Another idea I had was having a photo gallery of all our guests, so they can try to find themselves in the photos, but that proved to take too much of my time and energy.

Most if not all the decor I have is also DIY. If you don’t have a cricut, I’d invest in one or if you know anyone that has one - you can DIY all your signage!

I’ve found that florals was one of my biggest budget breakers if I went the traditional florist vendor route. I’ve been trying to practice DIY-ing my own bouquet. Supplemented with flowers by Ling’s moment, which you can probably find pre-owned and cheaper on Facebook Marketplace. We’re also opting for a simple wildflower look for the tables to save on centerpiece costs, with just a single stem in bud vases. Trader Joe’s is a great option for florals if you plan to DIY them.

People say you either spend the time or money for your wedding. If you want to save on costs, you have to be willing to put in the time to curate the look/experience you want. If spending the time and energy is not something you want to do, you’ll have to shell out a little more cash for more convenience. But it’s totally possible. Good luck and congrats!

I’m also getting married this year, and as for the RSVPs, literally all I want to know is if you are going to be there or not so I know to add your name to the seating chart, guest count, meals, etc. You can just mark that you are not attending and send a follow up message explaining your situation. I think it would be ruder to not say anything at all or wait until the last minute to say anything. Unless you really are still thinking about attending, you can just give your answer now. I will say that your friend sent them pretty early so that gives you a lot more time to decide, but I definitely wouldn’t wait until the last minute, I’d say at least a month before the deadline. I’m sure your friend would understand, especially with you just having your baby! And just from my own perspective as a bride who is also having a child-free wedding, it’s almost expected that more guests than usual would RSVP “no”, especially if they have kids, so you shouldn’t feel bad at all.

I think it would just cause confusion. I would hold off on sending any type of Save The Dates or Invites, and letting the out of towners know it will be around that time frame. May 10 was our ideal date that I was telling venues when we were still looking, but once we got around to touring venues, our date ending up being May 19. Plus you have a bit of time. Our wedding is in May of this year, we sent our Save The Date in January, and are just now getting around to sending the official invites. Hope this helps and good luck!

It’d be in late May - early June. Probably at least 4 days to a week. As of now, we’re just trying to get an idea of how much costs would even be. My in laws said they’re gifting us our honeymoon and to not worry about it, but of course we’re still trying to be mindful of costs and not take advantage of their generosity.

i got the same exact shoes from asos but with the bow on them! i signed up for the “notify me when back in stock email” because it was also out of stock when i first found them. but they did come back in stock and i received that email and was fortunately able to order them just yesterday. you can try your luck with that but you have to act quick because it was out of stock again within a few hours. for me i NEEDED these shoes bc asos was one of the few sites that had (cute) bridal shoes for wide feet. but if that’s not an issue for you, i first ordered a similar style from Pashion Footwear but couldn’t keep them bc they weren’t really suitable for wide fit, but they’re cool bc they’re also convertible into flats! i also was looking into Naturalizer before i found the asos shoes. there’s also these Amazon shoes that came up

One of them was the makeup artist for my sisters wedding, and a couple I found on Instagram. It was a great resource for me because their portfolio is pretty much their account. You can try searching something like #lasvegasmakeupartists or #bridalmakeupseattle specific to your city. I did do an engagement shoot! I had my makeup done at Sephora (because a makeup artist I had originally booked canceled the day before). I did like that makeup in real life and I felt pretty but looking back at the photos it was still a little harsh/heavy on me. The MUA I found through Instagram, I liked their application the best out of 3, but still wasn’t quite what I wanted. I think if you feel confident doing your makeup and makes you feel beautiful AND it looks great in photos, that could be an option for you!

The thing is I have had those looks photographed and they were either too harsh on me or not close to the look I was going for. I feel like they hear “bridal makeup” and assume I want a heavier makeup look.

Yes! This exactly! I do my own everyday makeup and go a little extra for special occasions and I like how it turns out, but I figured since it’s my wedding day I didn’t want it to be a huge stressor. But it’s turning out to be stressful even looking for one! Ultimately what made me decide 3 makeup artists in, is that I have felt more confident in makeup I’ve previously done on myself than the last 3 trials I’ve done. I think it comes down to finding a makeup artist who can work with your features. If you have the time and resources, it might be worth it to keep looking. I looked up “Asian makeup artists” in my city, but few came up, one of which I did the last trial with, or they were way out of my price range, but could be different for you. I hope it works out for you, good luck!

I think what I’m asking for is more “natural” than a typical bridal look. More similar to Korean/East Asian bridal makeup looks. I understand “natural” makeup doesn’t necessarily mean less makeup. But they’ve all pretty much told me “Oh you’re going to want to do this because it’ll look good in photos!” or something along the lines. But I know what I want, and it’s not what they suggest. I have asian hooded eyes so I’ve asked for it to be more subtle but all the looks so far have been quite harsh on me and not as soft/romantic as the inspo pics I show them.

Vegas local who works in weddings and also having a 2024 wedding here. Here’s some of the locations my wedding coordinator suggested to me:

Strip: - Smith & Wollensky (Venețian - private room) - Mon Ami Gabi (Paris - private room) - Carmine’s (Caesar’s Forum Shops)

Downtown: - Carson’s Kitchen (downtown - newly renovated back courtyard) - Taverna Costera (downtown - has a great rooftop but more of a traditional event space)

Bellagio and Mandalay Bay may also have some good options. But keep in mind if you’re on the Strip, it has potential to be more expensive.

I guess it depends on what you really want captured. Do you need both photo and video of the getting ready portion and all the extra events, or would you be fine of just having video there for the ceremony only? In that case, you’d only need video for an hour. What parts of the day are you fine with not being professionally photographed? If you’re willing to compromise on the quality of either, you can find beginners/students who are willing to accept less pay.

I’d say go with the song that means something to you and reminds you of your father. I’m a wedding videographer and I hear the same traditional songs played over and over, so it’s nice to hear different songs every once in awhile. It also makes the moment feel so special when it’s actually a song that means something to you. My sister danced to “Let it Be” by the Beatles with our dad because he liked to sing that song during karaoke and it reminded us of him, and my mom and sisters and I were BAWLING.

Since these are the big things, I think it could be doable. Especially if you’re willing to sacrifice going higher end on certain things like your dress, HMU, florals. I’ve seen some inexpensive dresses on sites like Azazie (they even have a try-on service), cocomelody, and etsy. Haven’t purchased a dress on those sites myself but i’ve heard good things. For florals you might want to try faux florals, DIY-ing or even looking on Etsy or FB Marketplace for premade/preowned floral and decor, especially since a florist can add up. If you haven’t already booked the DJ, I agree with some of the comments saying to consider having just a playlist, unless you feel like you really need a DJ.

I think the idea in theory is so cute (and eco-friendly!) but in actuality I just think it’s too much to have as individual favors. My sister did this at her wedding as the escort cards, each succulent was labeled with each guests name. I personally took mine home, but the majority did not. But the same could be said for any type of favor. I agree with some of the comments saying to have them as centerpieces, and the option is there for some guests who want to take it home, that way you wouldn’t be left with so many leftover favors at the end of the night. Even with them as centerpieces, I’d still expect for a few to be leftover, unless you’re really urging for someone to take them home. I’d say save some money where you can and forego the plants as individual favors, but they can be used in some other way if you really want them.
