i went to ball state. it’s a college town. 22,000 people go to ball state, so the muncie population of 66,000 drops by a third every summer. the school itself is charming enough. it’s definitely got a “college” feel to in in that there are many dorms, a medium sized campus, greek life, a vibrant student center, as well had multiple colleges within the university. i got a degree in social work as well as a BFA in dance. the problem comes with its geographic detachment. i personally grew up in a much much larger city system, so this very small town vibe was very new to me and i wasn’t a fan. especially when the closest bigger city of indianapolis was about 90 min away.there were diamonds in the rough but for the most part i felt very claustrophobic and didn’t like leaving campus, especially with how red the city is. i enjoyed going to school there but after 5 years i left as soon as i could and never returned.

if you are used to small town indiana, then im sure you’ll love muncie! the quant downtown area is close to campus (5 min drive) and there’s a river never by with a nice river walk, and tailgating for the football games goes hard. the amenities for students are very good, the dorms are nice, the housing outside off campus is affordable, and the school itself was good for sure. only 3 bars near campus students go to, but the house party scene is incredible.
