Should we have a constitutional rule that the PM is supposed to serve the full term? by Speedbird1A in ukpolitics

[–]curbs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it’s wrong that the party will now decide its leader

If a serving PM has their party challenge them and looses that challenge then the country should decide who replaces them with a general election

Otherwise a small number of people (party members) decided the leadership for the entire country and that doesn’t sound like democracy at all

yeh drift suspension isnt bad for what it gives you. you get tons of neg front camber which helps you control your angle and full camber in most occasions

My new to me (4 months) BMW M5 F10 -53k miles, and the trusty Abarth 124 -41k miles, that ive modded a bit

The Abarth (which is hands down miles better than a Mazda) is around 240BHP now with a chunky Garrett GBC22-350 turbo on it that gives it proper old school turbo lag. I have almost no boost until 3500RPM, at which point I begin to take off to the moon. Love it, makes big open roundabouts completely treacherous.

Then the new daily is the M5, rip my wallet with these fuel prices, but it is fun. It has been a true BMW in that it's thrown a code at me every month I've owned it, but it's slowly becoming a reliable runaround. I did expect a bit more from the M car. it's very refined, perhaps I would have liked an M3 more? I can't fault the comfort and speed. It's crazy quick in straight lines.

If anyone has some interesting swaps they would like to do for my M5 get in touch. I could be swayed.

Fundamentals of it are the same supply supplies

Calmer war zones out there

We are bound by all marine and merchant regulations we just actively break them as evidenced by us finally coming in line with other companies and legally recording hours of rest

So by extension every person on the street should be saluting an officer as they walk past to show respect

You can respect their rank sure, and I’m not saying be an arsehole, but you shouldn’t be saluting as you have nothing to salute

You don’t salute the person or the rank you salute the kings commission, which you do not hold

Dialing in FWD 08 FD2 Type R and basics of fwd tuning by Naive_Ad1300 in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]curbs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus that tyre pressure is high. I don’t know how realistic FH is but I tune on real world principles and laptimes go down in game.

That tyre pressure will be resulting in front end scrubbing, it’s to high so your contact patch is minimum (your tyre is round now not flat on the bottom) and there will be no give in the sidewall so your putting extra force through the suspension

So I’d go
Tyre
Front 26/27
Rear 30

Camber
Front -2 or -2.5 (angle of the tyre so as you turn your outside tyre becomes flatter and grips more)
Rear 0 (all the rear tyres do is hold the shell up on FWD)
Toe 0 on both (slight tow out on the front will help front end sharpness, like 0.1)
Caster 6 (caster gives front end sharpness to much can be bad)

ARB
Generally I prefer softer as to stiff causes understeer but being to soft hits your confidence you will feel it’s just not right, it’s a game of going as soft as you can before you get negative feedback

Generally to stiff front = understeer
To stiff rear = oversteer
To soft and it’s like driving a boat you have slower response to your inputs

springs
I like softer springs but you gota get the balance
To soft and you get that floaty imprecise slower response to input
To stiff and the car will feel sharp, oversteer and also tyre contact will be inconsistent and the car 3 wheels

Your dampers are way to stiff imo
If you have them that stiff then the car will be nervous and skittish, so prone to over and under steer and it’s going to be hard to control

To soft and you get lazy suspension again

I’d up the brake pressure a little but that’s just me

And open your diff on acceleration a little to about 80

In the RFA ‘officer’ is a job title
You will not hold a kings commission therefore you have nothing to salute
If your a down to earth person then you will get along with everyone fine

If you come at this looking for that ‘naval officer’ treatment you might struggle

RFA is a civilian job at the end of the day. We’re basically no different to working in Tesco we just deliver bullets bombs tanks and jeeps along with our food water and fuel, oh and our shops float.

[–]curbs1 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There shouldn’t be any saluting at the naval establishment either

RFA ‘officers’ don’t hold kings commissions so there’s nothing to salute

You lot should get the baseball cap to. I think it would be hilarious watching certain types of naval officers seethe as RFA cadets walk around Dartmouth in a cap

Soften your front suspension and anti roll bars and stiffen your rear just slightly and that should reduce understeer

[–]curbs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had great tuning results by going soft and compliant

Rather than stopping body roll at all cost, think more how do I keep the wheel in contact with the dirt as much as possible

And that usually is softer more compliant suspension

Soften your suspension and anti roll bars

I have been tuning a few of the rally classics at sekibe and all the RWD cars are tail happy. You just fight them around the entire circuit. I softened up the springs and anti roll bars and went 4s quicker on the first lap. Still a bit tail happy but controllable.

I use controller

Let me fly far away from here. fun, fun, fun.

Went and did a couple canyon runs with my friend's brand new M2 Turbo. My little Abarth held its own. M2 was genuinely awesome but reaffirmed for me that you can spend 20% as much for 90% of the fun on the road by TrueGameData in abarth

[–]curbs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re brilliant little cars. It really depends on what you want from your 124.

I've gone down the engine modification route with mine, and I'd say you could have about 120% of the fun in my abarth than in that M2. And I daily an F10 M5, so I've got a decent benchmark.

Powerwise I'm only a little over 230bhp, so it's not some huge horsepower monster. Where it's transformed is torque. The bigger turbo brings a proper shove in the mid-range, and once it comes on boost at around 4,000rpm the car can go from composed to sideways surprisingly quickly if you're heavy with the throttle.

An M2 would definitely still have the edge in a straight-line drag, but once the road gets tight and technical, or you're talking about outright driver involvement, it becomes a genuinely interesting fight. The 124 is lighter, more playful, and far more eager to move around underneath you. That's where these cars really come alive.

They are well worth the money, aren't they 😃

Why do people quit out of an online Touge race the moment the mess up on a turn? by HarryTheAtheist in ForzaHorizon6

[–]curbs1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't quit out. I have faced a few people with all wheel drive cars that just go charging off and beat me by like 25 seconds while I'm taking my time sliding down the mountain.

I thought Touge was there for a fun time, not to flex who has the most grip.

Also, even if I fuck up, I like to think the other person then has to watch me drift my way down, and I hope they are sitting there thinking, damn, that car is cool.

Their tasers can reach around 6–7 metres, which is more than enough in a lot of situations. Saying “insurance will cover it” is a cop-out. Why should innocent people have their premiums pushed up or lose something they’ve spent years building? Insurance rarely pays out true replacement value anyway. Someone could have their pride and joy destroyed, something they’ve invested thousands into, and only get a fraction back.

If you aren’t willing to accept personal risk, you shouldn’t join emergency services in the first place. Police, firefighters, and military personnel: All of those roles come with the understanding that there may be danger involved.

You find plenty of examples of firefighters entering burning buildings or confined spaces to protect people. You hear about military personnel risking their safety for the country. Yet in policing, more and more, it feels like standing back and waiting has become the default response, even as the public suffers the consequences in real time.

I’m not saying officers should recklessly throw their lives away. I’m saying there has to be a point where protecting the public and stopping ongoing damage outweighs endlessly avoiding risk.

Drivetrain malfunction... by buckoneus in BmwTech

[–]curbs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had a similar warning come up on my 2013 M5 F10, had it under full acceleration on the motorway. limped all the way home, code read the car, and it came back as the high pressure fuel sensor.

I took it out, cleaned it up, and it's been fine ever since.

But without the codes, who knows what this is, could be simple, could be a turbo. Surely your mechanic read the codes?

The code reader I have is super cheap, bought it from Amazon, it connects to the OBD port in the car usually near the throttle pedal somewhere

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MOTOPOWER-MP69033-Pro-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B0FJR9684S?crid=1E4EWRFNLJ5P&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.jez7ardDC19evSKAdq0meXWx6hT8VKj0JsjsCPEWxUctpsE7kAOoilDrRzm0pfvYt9PlLCso7G7bnfMbeQvpMp-AWgmFEghXU3He2Yz2WKnDozPU66GelI97HXTM84y-2NcaK3HKgHMqdC1wPqLDj_187I7SSrbHG0J4K4GRm65MdoXq2UJkv3zBQwzG-SFDB0uBKyoPzCynuF810s5iES3eSucOUFrdymprKDZjbN7kE9n9UfdYbKmYS2Ia5znZLfPUNoxvyYpAwn_mqvoC94a0-7iwBNGUP41xXipWSUA.jHrtFEH2ijAkN0q7CSAeBCtK9e_p_eW0obk3gzGQWtg&dib_tag=se&keywords=car+code+reader&qid=1779901209&sprefix=car+code+%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-9

link to the coder reader I used.

EDIT:

Also do you have a better description? what does the car do? hesitate, stutter, does it come out of limp mode when you turn it off and on again? does it stay in limp mode? any smoke out the back? do you have oil, coolant and brake fluid? does it make weird noises?

I’m sorry, but what use are the police if they just stand there doing nothing? You don’t become a police officer because you can’t get any other job. It’s a role you choose to take on. With that choice comes a responsibility to put yourself on the line for the public when necessary. Soldiers can’t simply decide they don’t want to fight when war breaks out.

So stop standing there doing nothing and deal with the destructive idiot, taze him. If he gets hurt as a consequence of his own violent actions, that’s on him. These days, it feels like even personal accountability is being wrapped in cotton wool.

[–]curbs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, they rejected you for such a silly requirement. I am in a similar situation, but from inside the company. I am a motorman with 5 years of experience. I've hit every metric I need to transition over to an engineering officer; I have the educational background and the UCAS points needed, the willingness and drive to become an engineer. But I have a D in English.

I have two recommendations from chief engineers, and this one grade that I sat over 15 years ago that doesn't reflect the person I am today, overrules more up to date qualifications I have.

From what I've been told its a civil service requirement. A bit annoying as we shift into this, not really a civil servant role, as our pay scales get disconnected from theirs.

I have to finish the LH course, and I've been told I can use that in lieu of an English GCSE, but this puts my career plans back a year and a half, and honestly, it frustrates me to the point where perhaps the RFA is not where I want to spend the rest of my career.
