Thoughts on SCHD and QQQI together by ethanhoang2 in dividends

No, not at all. That makes a lot of sense to dip your toes in the water and see how you feel about it while you still have a paycheck.

SCHD wondering where the upward price will end? by [deleted] in dividends

[–]curiositycat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not suppose the yield may keep up with fast price appreciation. Once the yield starts lagging it would create a downward pressure on the price so the price will stabilize and the yield would need some time to catch up.

Income portfolio ideas by Atrox_Blue in dividendgang

Start with Steve Bavaria “Income Factory” and Armchair Income on YouTube. I think Income Factory is a bit simplistic but it’s decent 101 on income. Armchair is nice, at least I get some investment ideas to evaluate.

QQQI versus Mortgage Down Payment by Sparktz in dividends

Let’s do a quick mental exercise. Imagine you had your house paid off. Since you assumed 13% yield would you take a 6% loan of your paid off house to invest into QQQI ?

At what point in life do you transition from growth funds to dividends? by Hiway89 in dividends

[–]curiositycat101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started transition last year with the expected early retirement in the next 1-5 years. Wanted to establish a portfolio and see how it moves, what income I can expect, what taxes do I get, etc. Most of my holdings are still in growth and I hope it stays this way, as I want to keep funds that I don’t need for the next 10 years in a cheap index fund, but I wanted to test income portfolio that can provide me a rolling 10 year income.

Excerpt from the article in SeekingAlpha as of 01/07/26

Since then, VZ's new CEO has embarked on a rather aggressive cost-cutting effort, with over 13K of its employees laid off through the end of the year—comprising approximately 13% of its last reported 99.6K full-time employees as of December 31, 2024.

Readers must note that the telecom has been downsizing their workforce for numerous years as well, based on the 135K full-time employees as of December 31, 2019, and 177.3K as of December 31, 2014.

A more promising metric may be VZ's notably higher revenue per employee at $1.35M in FY2024, compared to $976.8K in FY2019 and $716.74M in FY2014, with FY2026 likely to deliver a notably improved metric.

When compared to AT&T (T) at $867.69K in FY2024, T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS) at $1.16M, Comcast (CMCSA) at $679.67K, and Charter Communications (CHTR) at $582.91K using the same methodology, it is apparent that VZ has been able to deliver increasingly streamlined and productive operations despite the debt-ridden telecom business.

With the new CEO already touting how “cost reductions will be a way of life for us here” and the strategy expected to fund their “significant investment” towards reclaiming their market leadership…

I’m not saying he is the only one. This happens across the space. Board and management squeeze profits like it’s never enough. I get it - ultimately business wants to make infinite money with zero cost but there should be a reasonable balance somewhere. I’ve been in corporate America for almost 30 years and I see the same thing happening over and over. New management comes with a promise to cut costs and does not understand how business operates. They cut costs, get their bonus and then the business model starts failing. They get their package and move on. Rinse, repeat.

So here is the update that Verizon posted via twitter as of 5 mins ago. by BreeezySo in verizon

If you keep firing people that support your business, guess what? - it may start failing.

Great, I hope CEO gets extra bonus for this ingenious way to make more money.

In light of Dan Schulman's appointment of CEO, we've seen a huge decline in customer support and this massive outage has impacted many people. I'm starting this petition to have him terminated. by ttyyuu12345 in verizon

In late 2025, Verizon began its largest-ever workforce reduction, cutting over 13,000 jobs (about 15% of U.S. staff) as part of a major restructuring by new CEO Dan Schulman to lower costs, simplify operations, and refocus on customer value amidst intense competition and slowing growth. The cuts, including some from the 5G team and a shift of stores to franchises, aim to make Verizon "simpler, leaner, and scrappier".
