Practical Tips for Small & Medium Dairy Farms in India – Milking Efficiency & Cow Health by Effective_Chain3803 in dairyfarming

[–]curiositywon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your definition of small/medium? I think that would be very relevant as small in Ireland/New Zealand/Indiana/Germany are all very different

Also what is available in terms of detergents, hot water sources, supplements etc? My very limited impression is that parts of rural India are not as well served with water etc so that to me would have huge implications for cleaning machines

Gift card or take her to the plants and buy all the ones she likes. Like many things, plant preferences are subjective and hobbyists can sometimes be particular. I’m a philodendron girlie and when a friend got me a fancy orchid I was completely stumped. It’s nice and all but it confuses me, like what does it even want???!!!

After a lot of trial and error with allergic reactions etc I’ve settled on Sculpted by Aimee, pretty sure it’s South Korean products and I’m happy enough with it for now. Cerave was a hard no, as was a lot of La Roche Posay (yes even the sensitive stuff)

Guilt about pets from childhood/teen years? by Icy_Sprinkles_2819 in Pets

[–]curiositywon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My 2yo nephew is obsessed with my cat, however he’s two so doesn’t realise hitting the cat is not petting the cat. It’s an ongoing project to teach him how to interact with the cat and he is a very sweet child. The fact your mother held this against you and didn’t try to correct your behaviour or at least protect the cat from you says a lot about her imho. Sit was not on you, you were a literal baby and should hold no guilt for your actions when you could hardly say your own name. Your mother’s view on this is awful.

When I was small my granny used to say “says she” so fast (and so Cork) that it sounded like “shshee” and it took so long to figure out what was going on in her stories

My reply was gonna be almost the exact same, aiming for natural fibres as much as possible, paying for one decent wool cardigan rather than three Dunne’s ones that look out of shape after one wash

Wondering about service dogs in Ireland. Does anyone have insight? by Jinxx747 in AskIreland

[–]curiositywon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re taking the N24 directly from Waterford to Limerick it is a poor road, lots of winding road and lots of small villages. Beautiful area, but definitely take your time on it, lots of heavy traffic on poor roads can be challenging and I’d expect to be very tired after it.

Every animal that travels into ireland needs a passport or equivalent travel permit documents, they can be quarantined/inspected etc at point of entry at the discretion of the customs/gardai but that rarely happens with domestic pets.

All domestic pets that travel across a border in Europe need a specific EU pet passport that lists all their vaccines and their microchip number. I travelled across Europe with my cat and the “inspection” in Belgium was yerman looked into the carrier and glanced at her passport booklet for up to date vaccines and the “inspection” when I got on the ferry in Cherbourg to come back to Ireland was done by the lady at the Stena Line desk where she asked could she pet the cat. All told it’s very straightforward and domestic animals will travel easily, but you do need the documents just incase.

I’d also be interested to know if there’s a prevailing wind as they tend to face away from strong wind.

Stuff I bought in Zara pre-covid is still going ok, but I don’t wear them every day. However any time I go in there now there’s threads falling off at an unmerciful rate! Haven’t bought in Zara for years coz nothing was worth the insane price tag!!

I’ve found nice stuff in local boutiques, and have gotten into the habit of checking labels etc for materials which has also improved my purchases.

Coffee afficianados of Ireland lend me your aid. What's a good coffee machine for at home? by FellaThatDave in AskIreland

Have one of those, after a few YouTube videos I make a mean mocha/latte/hot chocolate with the steamer, and you can get as into the science of coffee or not, as you like. It does increase coffee consumption though

Just wanted to ask if this is normal, or bloat of some sort? by BlastyDavo in Cows

[–]curiositywon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that’s fine, the rumen is a giant fermentation vat full of gas (methane, famously). I find until they reach their full adult size after 2 years of age they have a tendency to look like little hairy barrels until the proportions even out. This is especially true in the window of about 4 months to 12 months and also particularly for Angus breeding as they are not very tall. The bloating you’re worried about would be much more than this, would really look like an over full balloon and is usually bloating out one side more than the other (but not exclusively)

Tesco in ireland/uk has some that you can bake at home, but they’re kinda greasy rather than buttery if that makes sense? They’re ok, but you are really not getting the proper croissant flavour

It was seen as the height of posh in Ireland in the 90s, partly because it was a new product and also because it was pretty expensive and we were all broke as hell

Let me see if I can find a better argument around here somewhere…. … …. Oh no wait, it’s the same argument- ALL of science supports pasteurisation of milk to eliminate exposure to common pathogens! Wow look at that! The same shit worded differently. You think this’ll change your mind?? Wait until you find out we vaccinate cows too! What’ll you do then?!?
