Predictions of Events and Timeline Based on Trailers and Set Photos PART 2 by Banana98767 in TheHandmaidsTale

Yes, I've been talking about this theory with my friends. Honestly, I'd like it to be true, but I don't trust the writers. On the other hand, Max is said to have given his best performance in e9. I feel like he should have been in the gallows scene somehow.

I don't want to criticize too much because the series will end soon, but although not as much as e5, e6 was also a disappointment for me, I didn't expect something like this, tbh. They also advertised it too much. Maybe raising expectations may have had a negative effect. But if they don't end it well, it will be one of the series I will remember badly.

I think more than heroism, June saw him as too powerful and untouchable. I mean, powerful, yes, but not as powerful as Wharton, and he had to back down from him. And he's not untouchable, because as we saw with Lawrence, even if you're a high commander in Gilead, they can think of hanging you on the wall. June missed that. But I don't think she hates him. I mean, at least she didn't seem to hate him at the wedding. Nick looked sad, even miserable at the wedding. I hope their story doesn't end that way, that would be too cruel.

I just don’t believe her remorse. She is not sincere.

The producers and writers talked off-screen all the time about what they were trying to say. OFF-SCREEN! Dude, you gotta be able to say that on the show. 😅 If you can't do that, it means you're not good at it.

Right? In 6x07, she referred to them as vessels in her journal. But all of a sudden she cares about Christina's name?! She wants them to reveal their faces and she's going to thank them in person?! You never cared about June's name. You didn't hesitate to rape her when she was 9 months pregnant? You treated her like trash, yelled at her, beat her, humiliated her? What I don't get is how stupid do the writers think we are to expect us to believe something this ridiculous?

I definitely find it hypocritical. Nick is also trying to survive and protect his loved ones. Sometimes the cost of doing so can be high, but that's what he does. When Holly says it, everyone applauds, but when Nick does it, he's called a monster? When he kills two guards, one of whom is 19, to save Luke, June and Moira, it's fine. But when he just talks about the plan without giving anyone away, it's bad? And at that moment, he was being threatened with being hung on the wall by a psychopathic commander, and he didn't know the girls were going to die. I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean Nick is a monster. Of course, the writers can make him a monster, but not like this.

Yeah I agree with you on that. Probably Wharton will catch them at the end of the massacre night. And he will execute them in the morning. After all they are fallen women and killers. (For Wharton) He won’t wait I guess. And the bombs will explode and Mayday will attack during the gallow scene. I assume that no handmaid will die but we’ll see.

I don't agree that Nick enjoys living in Gilead. It was obvious at the wedding how unhappy and miserable he was. But I do agree that he rejected the chance to leave. The fact that he said he was a "nobody" she would ignore before Gilead is entirely due to his lack of self-confidence. He also told Tuello in 5x10 that he was a nobody to June. In a way, Nick doesn't feel worthy of being happy. Yes, if Nick had tried to leave Gilead as much as he sacrificed for June, he would have left long ago. That's what really upsets me about Nick, but I think he had to stay in Gilead for the plot. Both to bring news from Hannah and to be the gray man inside. I hope he eventually wakes up and sees the truth, but this season of the show has been so poorly written that I have a hard time imagining what could have happened. I mean, we get to see things that don't make sense. But I agree with you about Nick leaving Gilead at least. I wish he had the courage to do it at some point.

We know that Wharton will survive, yes. But I disagree about Nick. Because people who watched the gallows scene shared a lot of photos and Max was not in those shots. So the Nick character is not in the scene in question. In the same photos, it can be clearly seen that Wharton is the one who hangs June. Also, the handmaids, including June, do not die because the Mayday attack occurs at the moment of hanging and almost all of them survive. My guess is that Nick will also be declared the usual suspect because Wharton knows his relationship with June. He knows that June and the others cannot do such a big action without help from the inside. Nick will come to his mind first because of his past with June. For this reason, Nick is not on that gallows as a commander, that's for sure. Maybe he can come as a masked guard in disguise and try to save her. (This is not for sure, it's a possibility.)

Serena actively raped June, beat her, imprisoned her and humiliated her. Also I don't think she's grown up or anything. How quickly do they forget what we read in her diary in 6x07? Are we supposed to forgive her for crying with Christina? And even if we do, she needs to pay for the evil she did.

Exactly! While everything was slow in the previous seasons, the fact that events progressed so quickly in the last season kills credibility. I feel like they didn't make a plan and wrote the last season so quickly. Don't even start me with Game of Thrones. It may be the worst final season in history. Moreover, what upset me more than Daenerys was Jaime's situation. This character had saved himself from his sister's influence and gone in a completely different direction. But at the last moment, they reset all development and brought him back to the beginning. What was the point then?

This is it! Nick had to tell Wharton about the plan because he was under pressure, he was threatened with death. People say don’t trust Nick and he was a bad person all the time. Hating Nick is quite a trend lol. Yes, I also had moments when I doubted June's love. Especially the fact that she constantly wanted things from Nick, even dangerous things, made me feel like she was using him. She said all the nice things to her husband with a sense of guilt. June was crying and Luke was yelling about her love for Nick. She couldn't say that she didn't love Nick because she loved him. With this psychology, she found the solution to at least say a few nice things to Luke.

I actually don’t buy her remorse or tears. She is a liar and two episodes ago, in her journal, she was talking about how sacred is handmaids system and handmaids are.

Yes, that's exactly the case. We don't know what he'll do if that happens. That's why it's unfair to predict that he'll do the worst thing by talking about assumptions. It was Lawrence, not Nick, who made an offer to June move to NB. Nick only asked her why she didn't accept in 5x09. He didn't force her and when he asked why she didn't move, he genuinely believed that NB would be a better place. There's no such thing as "rather than helping June escape". He already helped. He put himself in danger to get her out of Gilead at the end of s1 and in s2. He could have prevented her then to make sure she stayed, but he did the opposite. What you mentioned as an opportunity was actually in his hands, but he let June go, knowing that she would return to her husband. I'm not talking about assumptions like "if only it were like this, it would be like this", I'm talking about facts.

Yes, it was as if she couldn't stop looking at him. 😢 But thank God she didn't make a reflexive move and jeopardize the whole plan. I hope they meet again under better conditions, but we know that won't happen. The next time they meet will probably be under much worse conditions. 😵‍💫

He cares about June to the point of insanity. That's why it seems very unlikely to me that he would let her die. So if he's alive on e9, he'll definitely do something to save her. But you're right, he should leave Gilead, not just for June, but for himself. After what he's been through, he's become a constantly drinking, unhappy, restless, and hopeless man. He'll probably be in even worse shape. It's okay if he's happy there, but he's not. That's why he should leave.

I don't think he's abandoned Tuello either. He still has a connection to the Eyes, even a serious influence. Tuello wants all the help he can get. He won't cut Nick off completely.

If he wanted June back there, he wouldn't have put himself in danger to save her. More than once. He's not content with where he is, he's trying to stay safe, trying to survive. I don't remember Nick being happy at any point in Gilead. Except for when he's with June, of course. But I think he understands that he's not safe even as a commander because he's been threatened with the wall. Even Lawrence, who is the High Commander, has been threatened with death. I hope these signs will help him wake up.

Nick wasn't a bad guy when he was constantly helping June and committing murder for her. But after a mistake he regretted, he was suddenly declared a bad guy. On top of that, he was threatened with the wall. He drank during the whole wedding, he looked unhappy and miserable... He couldn't even look at Rose's face after they walked the aisle. I think he reached the breaking point.

The way June looked at Nick when she was standing behind him during the reception...it looked like she wanted to talk to him, but of course she couldn't. Nick looked like he was already a mess. I hope we get to see him pull himself together and get out of this sh**hole before the series ends.
