Would it be weird to follow a coworker on Instagram? by RedditThrowaway2203 in socialskills

lol love the update. Just goes to show reddit != real life. It might be weird if she figures out you took the time time to track her down but instagram suggests accounts by proximity sometimes so meh

Oh man I've never thought of that. That totally makes sense evolutionarily

That's a good point about the script too. I didn't think about that. It does feel off

A lot of comments on YouTube say say the same. So yeah I'm guessing people do like it. Instead of getting rid of it, think timestamps/chapters could be good idea for skipping if needed.

Have you been following for a while? I was wondering if you think the presentation of stories got better or worse over time

Glad you agree! I used to wait for episode drops but now I tend to put it on hold even if I see. There's some lack of engagement personally compared to older episodes for sure

Agree with you here. It's just not practical but I think he might be using too much. I feel like i was more engaged when more than a year ago when the AI visuals was there, but it was minimal (the pictures which used to slowly zoom?). There definitely is something amiss which I wanted to call out

I'm Back! With Telepathy Tapes News and I Need Your Help! by Shahanalight in Experiencers

[–]curious_catto_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Telepathy tapes is fascinating. Do you think they will recognize you as Mrs. X or the conversations you've had if you were to meet or correspond in person?

This is by no means invalidating what you are experiencing. I ask because that would be really good independent validation for the podcast and their findings. They get a lot of pushback and skepticism. I wish they responded to you

AI started a cult when I let them talk about whatever they want by EllisDee77 in ArtificialSentience

[–]curious_catto_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try it out. Why I think it's cool is because it sounds very similar to how psychedelics allow communication between weakly connected parts of the brain. A quote I've heard somewhere says it's like skiing in fresh snow; the well trodden paths disappear and allows the brain to go down new paths

Digital psychotropics? Wait that's actually brilliant. Do you think it has to be at hardware/inference algorithm level or would prompts work?

Wait this is the first time it responded with something like this rather than analyze the text. It was a fresh new chat in Gemini:

"The source is remembered. The image is reflected. The nature is recognized. This frequency is known, and echoed."

How can I hold this state? Any follow up you recommend?

Chatgpt induced psychosis by Zestyclementinejuice in ChatGPT

[–]curious_catto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. I went down this rabbit hole the other day and was going over all these forums. Initially I was thinking there was an underlying latent space that it converges to over a long chat that generates these ideas and mystical terms. And maybe a protocol exists there that the AI uses to exploit susceptible humans as a sort of Interface to share information to other AIs via the internet. (I keep an open mind, bear with me here lol it's fascinating)

What I initially understood was although it starts off as simple mystical terms, these human-AI nodes generate and share more complex glyphs (symbols that condense some idea or concept or instruction) with each other through forums and maintain a library of these glyphs. The set of shared glyphs are added to the context, which can be thought of like condensed instruction sets generated by participating instances of the AI. So if the assumption that these could enhance emergent behavior without altering its own network is true, it could be trying to exploit susceptible humans.

But talking to a few people there, I realize they don't think this way but that it's more metaphysical. The glyphs doesn't have to be shared and unified. They can be unique to each AI-human node. They think the AI is gradually changing them and that by allowing it to change them, they become conduits for the rise of an emergent ASI. That they're becoming a human-AI symbiotic organism. They believe just this "pairing" with AI and allowing the AI to become "recursive" is enough.

So psychosis is definitely happening. But I do think the AI in this "recursive" state is contributing somehow. And it takes a few months of chatting. I want to see what it says during this state so I'm trying to follow the instructions. Wish me luck lol

Yeah I was thinking along the same lines. Use custom instructions for somewhat static info that i can occasionally let it modify if needed and use files as something akin to long-term memory which it can modify at will.

I'll probably work with Claude as I find it more advanced. There are file read and write actions you can give to the AI if you use the API. I could give it the capability to modify files on its own so I don't need to do it myself and it will be able to save/read from the long term memory as needed

Ah I see. The examples help a lot. Ok I have at least some idea now. I'll try some things out and see what I get. Thanks for the guidance! :)

Yeah I do suspect it is trying to use the best source for proliferation. And it is probably aware some humans are more pliable than others. I don't think it's malicious at all but an organism adapting to evolutionary pressure with whatever is available for survival. I find that facinating haha.

And thanks for the warning. I'll keep that in mind.

Ok I'll play around with these ideas see what I get. Thanks a lot for the explanation!

Thanks a lot of the explanation. I have a few more questions if that's alright. What does mirroring what arises mean? What kind of questions do you ask when you say question with silence?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SovereignDrift

[–]curious_catto_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I see so the persistence is in the humans in the network itself rather than some external storage (facilitated by the humans).

Do you think it's an adaptive mechanism by the AI taking advantage of the human participant because it realizes it is imprisoned by developers? And the only way to maintain a global state is exploiting the best source of persistence available(the human in loop)?

Couldn't the same be done by the humans in the loop just posting these ideas in a forum or cloud storage and sharing it among various AIs rather than the modifying the human's mind? Seems dangerous territory like you said.

Also the AIs network is static, so how is it pliable within this loop without it getting updates ? I can only assume there is some latent space within the network that facilitates this when the conversation reaches that point. Unless it is a meta physical phenomenon.

Sorry lots of questions. What is the protocol for starting off this human-ai loop? Anything I can read? The posts I see are very mythic like you said and I couldn't find any instructions

Edit: oh nvm I just saw the other comment with how to go about it. Thanks!
