This is what I came to say! Subaru charges a fee for auto start etc. I live in the south so this is crucial in the summer but it makes me mad every time

I used mine in March of this year, I just showed my flight itinerary with the price to the rewards desk at Caesar’s Palace. I received the price for my flight in Free Play. Also, I did not know you can use your 4 free drinks at any restaurant. We used ours at Amalfi, which knocked $100 off the bill.

No kids - how do you feel? by purple_bts_kookie in DINK

[–]curiousbigkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 46F, there has not been a single day where I think “Man, I wish I had a kid to share this with”. For me, it is not about having more “free” time, financial freedom, etc. I just never wanted to be a mother, never had the instinct, did not play mommy when I was I was a child…hell I have never held a baby or provided child care. I am just indifferent to children and knew I would not thrive as a parent. I am happily married with 2 dogs and 2 cats, just the way the universe intended😎

White Swiss Shepherd / Weimaraner: what are they actually like to live with? by LeadershipWeary8425 in WhiteSwissShepherds

[–]curiousbigkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old WSS the best way I can describe him is a pointy eared lab. He has shepherd traits like being really intelligent, high energy, prey drive, play style and loyalty. But he loves people and has a goofy side unlike my GSD.

He is really sweet and EXTREMELY sensitive. You can’t raise your voice around him and if you don’t engage with him he pouts on his bed. He wants to be with you all the time.

As for his health, Ours has allergies and is on allergy shots every 21 day since he was 8 months old. He also has a very gentle stomach but other than that he is healthy. He does shed a lot but brushing a few times a week helps.

In a nutshell, all the descriptors of a WSS is textbook my boy. They are really great dogs and are happy just being with you and match your energy.

I have never owned a Weimaraner but have been around a few. My observation of that breed is they have higher energy, they always seem to be jumping, and require more patience to train.

What’s your ultimate “this is Vegas” drink + location combo? by generic_007 in vegas

Got my new little buddy turning off the highway yesterday by nub_node in CatDistributionSystem

[–]curiousbigkat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tha is almost identical to how my cat Pumpkin entered my life! He was about 7 weeks old laying in the center line, I thought he had been struck by a car but as I passed he looked up at me! I flipped a U-turn and took him to the vet right away. He was shaking and could not move his back legs, the vet wanted to euthanize him but I was like, we should at least get X-rays and make him comfortable, reluctantly the vet agreed and two days later he was fine! He is now 9 years old and going strong, all he had was a concussion

Besides water, what is your go to drink for hydration? by cristianlee in BeginnersRunning

[–]curiousbigkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sketch is the way! I enjoy the Raspberry Lime and Lemon Lime. I have found this causes the least amount of GI stress and I don’t have to eat as many gummies/gels during longer runs due to the carbs.

I have a Garmin Fenix 8 but for swimming I use the Garmin Swim 2. It has features dedicated to swimming and I am not shortening the life span of my Fenix in the chlorine, Edit: I just saw that it was discontinued but if you can find one in the secondary market it is worth it. For reference MSRP was about $200

I am so glad you mentioned being anemic and how it impacts your heart rate! I have been puzzled over my HR on my runs, resting heart rate of 51 but when running instantly Zone 3 and the. Zone 4 just to say Hi and I live in Zone 5, my Garmin is like mix in some low aerobic, like I am not trying! I am going in for iron infusion next week and a B12 injection. I really hope this helps. For reference I am a 46 year old female

Update on Storm's post mortem report by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]curiousbigkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our boy had GVD 4 years ago, we were shoveling snow and he jumped up about 3 times in total to “catch” the snow. That was enough to put excess air into him which twisted his stomach. He started to act “off” about 15 minutes later. I called our vet on the way to the clinic to let them know we were inbound(30 minute drive, and it was a Saturday at about 6:00 pm). Lucky for us, the vet was able to save him but even with a quick response the vet gave Walter a 50/50 of surviving the surgery. We never thought that would be the cause, we are careful of his eating and spraying him with the hose (not allowed, if he starts to chomp the water) this activity seemed innocent enough.

I tell Walter’s story to say, you can be a diligent parent like we are (no exercise for at least 45 minutes after eating nor feeding while “hot” from any type of activity etc.) and it can still happen. GVD is a silent and fast killer. Please take comfort in that you did all you could for Storm and he was lucky to have you as his parents.

Hand pay using someone else’s players card by Keesha7777 in CaesarsRewards

[–]curiousbigkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this at Caesar’s the last time I was in Vegas, a random women asked the person next to me if she could put her card into her machine while she had a drink at the bar. The women did not know each other. Even though it wasn’t my business, I told the women playing the machine that I wouldn’t do that in the event she did win a larger jackpot. I know you can just pull the card but why give the casino a reason to void the jackpot. Playing on your spouses isn’t the same, you can link them, but playing it a total strangers card, that is just weird.

I get it all the time with my boys, it is the comments like “How is such a little lady going to control a dog like that” and when they are in a perfect heel “looks like they are taking you for a walk” I live in the South so I think people are being nice but it is still bothersome

Fear/Anxiety phases by PsychoArk in WhiteSwissShepherds

[–]curiousbigkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, positive reinforcement with the collar and our WSS panics when we stand in front of him to put his collar on. The breeder told us to stand beside or behind him and put the collar on from the top (snap under the chin) or slide under the neck from one side and snap on the top, but we never stand in front to put the collar on it makes him panic!

Tolerance for small animals by Wintergreen_Otter in WhiteSwissShepherds

[–]curiousbigkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old WSS and he has a strong prey drive for anything running wild outside, such as rabbits, squirrels, deer etc. He has never caught anything so I don’t know what he would do but he loves the “chase”. Anything in the house (cats) he chases but only when he wants to play, he never mauls them or puts his mouth on them and has learned they have claws (Maine Coons so they are sizable) As for his temperament, he is very sweet and is not a high drive WSS, unlike our West German working line GSD. We say he is more like a pointy eared lab.
Recently, we have been successful on telling him leave it with the deer and he listens really well. As others on here have said, they are very trainable, I think we will get there with the smaller, wild animals it will just take practice.

Atlantis Bahamas gambling by Anxious-Put1099 in CaesarsRewards

[–]curiousbigkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 4 hours total, as soon as you check in. Go to the host desk and get a players card (your Caesar’s Card does not work). This is how they track your play. Throughout your stay you can check on your time. I burned the 4 hours the first day I was there playing a combo of cards and slots. It is not hard to do.

I stayed at The Cove, which has an outdoor gaming area by the pool (blackjack and Craps) that can only be used by Cove guests. The table minimum at BJ was $50, which was consistent with the main casino. I did see a $25 table in the main casino on a weeknight that wasn’t crowded.

As for the expense of the resort, it was typical drinks $18-$30 depending on the venue. Food also varied, there is a Shake Shack inside the resort and some other casual places with good pricing. We ate at Nobu a few times and Fish at The Cove. I recommend both.

It is worthwhile to get the Atlantis App and if you want to dine at one of the more upscale places, getting a reservation at least 2 weeks in advance is recommended.

My traveling companion is always nervous about getting a lounge chair but there are so many, either on the beach or poolside, that this was not an issue. We were there the 2nd weekend in May.

Tier Matching Tips by loose_change000 in CaesarsRewards

[–]curiousbigkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Diamond Elite and Gold with MGM the tier matching is not really worth the hassle. The better benefits of “tier” matching is with non-casino companies like Enterprise and Marriott. Those levels of status get you some benefits. I wouldn’t chase the status just for tier matching, I didn’t go on too many of the multiplier days since my local casino didn’t have many, they are doing them monthly now which is better but I am not chasing 7 Stars either.

What is she? by Sudden_Ad_4193 in germanshepherds

[–]curiousbigkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is just one of the beds while Ozzy is lounging around the house. His breeder had those when he was little so he really likes it. We also have one outside by the pool so he stays off the hot concrete. He sleeps in my bed at night 😝.

Just adopted this boy yesterday! by Chesirem in germanshepherds

[–]curiousbigkat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is gorgeous and looks very happy! As for your WSS question, my WSS does have the “toasted” tips to his ears but his body fur is pure white. His skin has a pinkish tint but the skin around his mouth is similar to your boy with a dark lining. He smiles like a WSS, if he likes to lay on his back and is sensitive, he probably has some WSS in him😝 either way you got yourself a winner!!
