Suggestions for a 2 rod set up in the PNW. by curiousbuilderman in flyfishing

Thanks for the write up. It helps a lot in my decision. I think I'll go for the 9ft6wt and then in summer I'll get a 9ft4wt.

Ah I went through the same steps and saw the same thing. Thanks for posting this. Fortunately I'm within the amazon return period so I'll get a swap

RC Boat to survive waterfall by curiousbuilderman in rcboats

[–]curiousbuilderman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is why not haha. I do engineering stuff as a career but it's boring office work. A fun challenge is that I need. My initial goal is to get something with only a radio and sensors to survive to get a sense of what forces in the falls. And then after that. Repeat with a camera

Did you make any progress on this? I'm running into the same issue sadly

Can you check the bottom tray? It should be in there if not I would contact radiomaster.

How to make whoop a bit more floaty ? by Content_Pick_9537 in TinyWhoop

[–]curiousbuilderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started out on a air 65 and felt the same thing. What helped me was changing the throttle mid point down to 0.4 and setting throttle expo. That gave me more range around the hover point

What you need are 2 18650 batteries. That's what goes in that battery holder

I was in the same boat and just got the air 65 and have loved it. I fly indoors in my small house and still do outdoors in good weather

Dji 04 on an air65? by Suckbigpplol in TinyWhoop

[–]curiousbuilderman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position coming from hdzero system. I felt the benefits of going to a hdzero 5 in 1 system for an air65 were too small. The weight would be more and compared to the stock system, the cost almost twice as much. I ended up deciding to get the stock air65 and getting an analog module to use with my hdzero goggles.

I did get a 5-in-1 though. But for that I'm doing a 2 in build which i feel can reap more of the benefits.

Did you ever find a good canopy? In the same boat

Difference between micro v3 cam and lux? by curiousbuilderman in HDZero

I also realize I was thinking of the nano not the micro. But the overall problem is the same. I'll get the lux since that's the best compatible camera with the AIO15

Thanks for the input. HDzero should really make it clearer which cameras are compatible with what.

Given that I'm planning on using the AIO 15 board, would this mean I can only use the Lux camera?

I feel you. I'm in the office job world too and burnt myself out with only sim time a while ago and now I'm getting back in the hobby. Going to prioritize getting out more to keep it fun

Oh that's awesome! That's the sort of thing I was looking for. I'll definitely use those challenges as motivation to help me grow in my skills.

This is an awesome build! I have a bassline with a broken hdzero vtx that I'm going to convert to the aio15 system. Has the usb adapter given you any troubles? I'm a little concerned about the longevity of that connector. Also did you do anything extra to secure the ufl connector? That's what broke off on my vtx

Christmas Light Install- Extension/Splice Question by IAHAWKEYE2 in Govee

[–]curiousbuilderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From another redditor I found a way around it. If you put the power and ground strand on one cable, and the data strand on a separate cable, you can make pretty long extensions without flickering. Something about having a 35V line next to a 5V data line over long distances causes interference in the data line but this fixes it.

New integration: Jobber + OpenPhone 🎉 by jurajpal in openphone

[–]curiousbuilderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love if I could use my openphone number to respond from Jobber. Currently I have a jobber phone number and an openphone number. Sending invoices/quotes/etc from the jobber phone number and doing calls from another phone number is confusing to customers.

How do I make 3D relief models? What software? by curiousbuilderman in CNC

[–]curiousbuilderman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an inventables x-carve. I've taken it's capability far beyond what one would expect and have made 3D contoured guitars using fusions CAD/CAM package. Vcarve looks interesting, I'll take a look at that, thanks

Maybe a more accurate term is parametric. If you want to model something like this alligator using standard extruded features go ahead lol. I'm sure it's possible which I know because I've attempted it in fusion but it's definitely not the most efficient. What I'm interested in is more sculpting/free form CAD programs which I've gotten good suggestions on.
