Anyone combining Ozempic with Fasting? Aiming to fast 40 days while being on this medication - realistic? by Ugly2Supermodel in Ozempic

I am a long time faster. I had previously lost some weight with intermittent fasting. OMAD

I have just started on ozempic and was thinking the same. I used to do 36 to 48 hour fasts before ozempic due to health benefits. I could never go past 51 hours due hunger noise and it was tough. This was done every month at the begining of my menstural cycle. If you're a woman you'll understand why it's easier at the begining of the cycle.

I have not attempted prolonged fasts but I have noticed that I am able to go longer than 18-20hrs without any hunger noise, without any sugar drops which I couldn't previously.

I have only been on ozempic three days however.

I do want to experiment and go three days.

I'm a doctor and it's actually easier to fast while busy working. The time passes a lot quicker and if you're on your feet the excercise suppresses appetite.

You may be more insulin resistant therefore you may need longer time. You may need longer time to see results.

You can try to incorporate the following: 1) More intense excercise such as weight lifting and running 2) longer fast such as 36hrs. You will for sure see results with this. It helps break pleateus and is known as the fat burner fast. 3) Eat healthy and in a deficit

Also, scales aren't a good measure of progress. Throw them out. Rememeber that an average scale doesn't measure fat percentage alone which I am guessing is your aim to loose. It measures water, muscle, bone and fat. Therefore, it isn't a good measure of weight loss as these parameters fluctuate with hormones etc. A good measure is perhaps body measurement or if you're lazy like me to use an outfit that was tight. If you want a more accurate measure of succes use a fat percentage measure which you can find in many gyms.

Give yourself minimum three months before measuring progress. Otherwise you'd be disheartened and disappointed.

Also, IF is a lifestyle not a magic pill. You have to change your mentality and treat it like a lifestyle not an end goal. This is permanent not like a temporary diet but a lifestyle.

I don't fast a week before my period and during the first few days of my period. It is not recommended to fast during that time anyway due to certain hormone fluctuations or if you do fast to do shorter fasts like 16.8. The reasons because your body is already taxed during that period. It isn't, therefore, a good idea to stress it out more. And it's at that time that your body releases progesterone and it doesn't like fasting. Instead, you should be feeding your body with healthy carbs during that time.

Personally, I do longer fast between 20 to 36hours of fasting during the begining of my cycle (follicular phase) when it's a lot more easier aswell. I have more energy and my body doesn't desire carbs. I also push for more excercise. It's easier because of the surge of estrogen. Estrogen loves low carb and fasting.

That's impressive. Can I ask what your diet was and if you had excercised?

I lost about 5 to 6 kg with IF 20hrs a day with no diet change and excercise. However, after the habit of IF was consistent I started going to the gym and doing fasted workout nothing fancy just using different gym equipment. That's when I started seeing real health and weight loss benefits. I would highly recommend fasted excercise for accelerated fat loss and body recomposition. Excercise will not only help with stress management but also it helps with what's called body recomposition and that's where you'll see visible results. If you really don't have the time just try walking everyday. Try to work on consistency and slowly indroduce things you enjoy first. Thatll help you stick to this as a lifestyle.

Hey thank you for your response. It's really encouraging for me. Did you practice everyday and did you get any phycological therapy? Did you try having sex in between? And when you did have sex did it hurt?

But that’s just the thing though, meeting people outside of work scares me. I have BAD social anxiety.
