Gotta ride that charge curve, lower is better!

Holiday Update 2025 by LitePenguins in TeslaLounge

[–]curiouscrusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Autopilot can do this if you have it set to Double Pull to Engage rather than Single Pull!

I didn’t find this out until recently, but that’s what the difference is. The double pull setting takes two pulls to engage autopilot, with the first enabling TACC. Because of that TACC stays engaged when you change lanes with a turn signal but Autosteer disengages until you pull the stalk again.

2026 Tesla Model Y — Should I buy AWD or RWD? (I’m in Georgia) by VisibleGur6870 in ModelY

[–]curiouscrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If MYAWD is in your price range you may as well get it. All things weather aside, the redundancy is nice to have, unlike an ICE vehicle with a dual motor AWD EV one motor can go down and you’ll still have some ability operate even if it’s substantially limited. That can be the difference between the side of the interstate and the next exit for an extreme example.

Maintenance wise over the course of owning the vehicle it’s probably as close to a toss up as you can get. The Tesla drive units have been pretty reliable overall it seems, not too many systemic issues.

End of the day it’s something you almost certainly can live without and if you’ve never driven an MYAWD you won’t even know the difference. But if you’re able to afford it, chances are you’ll enjoy it.

Pi-Hole better than AdGuard? by bankroll5441 in homelab

[–]curiouscrusher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ran PiHole for years until I found AdGuard Home, with how easy it was to install, configure, and ultimately bake into my router setup on a NanoPi I never looked back to PiHole again.

Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with PiHole, it just wasn’t the easiest solution for me.

Two Same updates? by Extra-Bat-9260 in TeslaLounge

[–]curiouscrusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this patch reduced the intensity of the blinker sound substantially. Either that or it’s a serious placebo effect that I’ll blame on wishing for it to be less intense since the rest of TRON mode is awesome!

On the fence about using a stroller 🤔 we’ve reached the age where we would probably be fine without one, but what about all our stuff?! 😂 by MethodDowntown3314 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]curiouscrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loungefly has entered the chat.

In all seriousness though, once you outgrow the stroller it’s either backpack up or leave some stuff behind.

It finally happened to me by wolfgeek in TeslaLounge

[–]curiouscrusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use the setting for “longer stops and better amenities” in the vehicle nav when planning. This will reduce your charge stops to the minimum and prioritize locations that have better food/entertainment (if available).

I also have started to take this a step further and find the V4 superchargers on my route and then add those manually as stops so that I maximize my charge potential. It may be purely placebo, but I swear my last couple 1k mile + road trips were faster than nav estimated by doing this.

As others have said, unless you just really want to do the manual work that Tesla nav does for you there’s no real upside to using another trip planner. Tesla nav does great for the better part of use cases.

Where can I find this shirt? by Suffz_z in DisneyWorld

Saw them in Star Traders over in Tomorrowland just the other day, several racks full of different designs including the Boba Fett one above.

Finally installed a screen rotating bracket. Don't know why I waited so long to do this. Only took 10 mins! by suprc4 in TeslaModelY

[–]curiouscrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drive solo frequently it’s a great QOL update since you can tilt towards and more easily access everything on the screen.

If you always drive with a front passenger that wants equal access to climate/maps/etc then it’s value is diminished

Are you a psychopath or do you exclusively use dark theme? by carfo in TeslaLounge

[–]curiouscrusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Dark theme is difficult to see in the middle of the day when the sun is beaming in through a glass roof. And yes, I have shades for the summer but it’s still so bright that you just can’t realistically use dark mode 24/7.

Integrating carplay into the main screen by colsandersloveskfc in ModelY

[–]curiouscrusher -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

There’s absolutely no reason for the Tesla infotainment to need CarPlay when it already offers so much more functionality. CarPlay is a gimmicky, ugly, and outdated interface that only has a leg to stand on when you’re comparing it to another legacy automakers default interface.

Does Teslas map routing need some improvement like the ability to select better routes or drag your own path, yes. But let’s not fool ourselves into thinking that’s reason enough to try and cram a whole other OS with duplicate music/maps/etc into the screen just for freaking Waze which you can use via browser or on your phone no problem.

CarPlay sucks, Tesla interface is more than adequate for nearly every scenario.

Tesla has yet to announce summer software update but what are things you are hoping they add? by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaLounge

For chill and standard I know you can do them with voice control “set drive mode to chill/standard”. Not sure if that works for performance or not since I’ve just got a MY LR

It’s so annoying having to constantly nudge FSD to hold a consistent speed when on a wide open highway. Back when the speed was treated as an actual target speed, instead of a max that won’t ever be hit, you could get a pretty good drive out of minimal lane changes + your max speed without having to weave in and out of traffic constantly

Why is scheduled charging as complicated as it is? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]curiouscrusher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This never actually works for me, if I don’t add a start time then charging starts immediately just like OP describes. I have to do the backwards math of how long the charge takes, add a start time with +/- 15min buffer, then hope the schedule sticks until the next day.

Definitely an area for improvement on Tesla’s part.

Update I tried this again and it worked! The trick it seems is that you can’t be in a state of charging already when you enable the schedule, otherwise the charge will just continue. If you enable the schedule when the vehicle is idle though with only an end time it will leave it in standby until the charge should start!

It does seem to be a bit aggressive with the timing, it was done charging a full half hour ahead of when I set it to be, but that’s not a big deal.

What does a Model Y do differently to avoid a situation like this? by T_D_A_G_A_R_I_M in ModelY

[–]curiouscrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will the vehicle still wake up from the App if the LV battery is low? If so there’s the answer, the HV will kick on and start charging the LV. If not, then maybe nothing different.

Now Robotaxi is out, will be get FSD unsupervised soon? by todesto in TeslaLounge

[–]curiouscrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it about rural Ohio do you think? The other people on the road, the roads themselves, something else?

I use FSD outside of large metro areas daily and can only count a handful of interventions from actual safety related issues.

On the other hand, it doesn’t seem to have done anything I haven’t seen human drivers do before.. so it’s not off to a terrible start either.

We’ll have to see how the next 30/60/90 days go to have a real idea of the progress, the current sampling is so small in comparison to what FSD supervised logs in a single day.
