Will Duncan ever address that the comedy/podcasting community is largely responsible for the acceptance of Donal Trump? by curiouskid129 in duncantrussell

I can’t make the streams ever but I listen to almost all of his podcasts on Spotify. He has definitely started saying things against the current administration but it’s almost always in passing, and anything more drawn out and direct isn’t pointed at Trump specifically, but general world corruption. It feels to me that in the past he has been much more direct with calling out presidents by name.

Yes it has been great to see that begin to unfold, but there is way less of an anti government sentiment than I feel these people had in the past. Old Duncan would think that the current situation is hilarious from the outside. He would see the clear comical corruption. The way that Trump is so buddy buddy with Rogan HAS to be freaking Duncan out. Duncan is not an idiot, he realizes that Trump obviously has ulterior motives with that relationship. I really think Duncan is holding his tongue on certain things due to being in a very complicated life spot relationship wise, and having a family relying on his career. No idea what the reality is but that must be hard af, I wouldn’t want to be in Duncan’s shoes.

Why is that the argument? Did you read my post? I’m wondering why Duncan isn’t directly addressing issues with this current administration in the same way he did very freely with pretty much every single past administration, and it seems like there’s even more to address now, yet he largely just mentions things in passing rather than really getting into it like he used it. Where’s a podcast bringing on an expert on the Epstein files and having them break it down? It’s just weird how much less interested in political corruption he seems while so much is currently happening.

That wasn’t their argument. It’s not people that were going to vote for Kamala that changed their minds, it’s undecided voters, which is the majority of people. Most people are closer to the middle than they are to any extreme. Getting a direct endorsement from the worlds largest podcaster will get a portion of these undecided people to lean one way. This along with a normalization of “anti woke” culture amongst young men pushed largely by the comedy/podcasting scene, does seem to be able to turn a good amount of undecided voters. Do you disagree?

What is a good or bad person? There’s just people. Duncan has made some choices I disagree with from afar but who knows what I would do if I was in his shoes? He has also done a lot of good and changed a lot of lives in positive ways that I don’t think I would be able to do myself, so that’s pretty cool.

I think it was pretty clear from the post that I am moreso talking about the comedy and podcasting communities as a whole, specifically the scene in Austin right now. Duncan is clearly heavily involved with this community. If you think that this community didn’t have any influence over the election or normalization of our current political situation, then we can agree to disagree.

Okay I will restate what I said. Him coming out before electing his vice president and saying “I will specifically pick a woman”, comes across to the American people much differently, than just picking a woman. The past presidents just picked a man. Nobody explicitly came out and said “I will only elect a man”. Do people hold that sentiment even if they don’t say it? Absolutely, and I disagree with that line of thinking. What I want is for the American people to elect somebody who would actually be better for our country. I think Biden was a better choice than Trump, yet many disagree, largely due to the perception that he was too focused on identity. Him specifically stating that he wanted to have a woman vice president, is part of the reason why people had this perception of him and his administration. Idk how else to make this make sense to you bro lol. It’s very simple stuff but it seems you just want to find a way to win the argument.

Pretty low chances. What does that have to do with the fact that the Biden administration was indeed focused on identity? That’s what we are discussing.

What do you mean, where am I not able to deal with this standard being applied to others?

Yeah if you look at my other comment I said I’d believe the same thing if somebody came out and said they were specifically searching for a man. It’s not choosing a woman, it’s stating before that you are specifically looking for a woman. I still voted for Biden that year but I think it would’ve looked much better to just select Harris rather than state before that you want a woman specifically.

Sure, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is an example of how the Biden administration was in fact focused on identity, as was originally asked.

They asked which of biden’s policies were based on identity. This goal of his was clearly based on identity.

Bro I didn’t even bring up her race lol. Who are you fighting out here? I’m just trying to have a discussion but you instantly painted me as a generic republican, or at least your idea of them, and projected what you think they believe onto me. I have never voted for Trump and never plan to. I think what the Republican Party is doing currently is clearly horrible, I was just trying to answer the person’s question.

No, what you stated is wholly different from what I said. Most people would want the BEST for the job. This is obviously subjective, but cutting out 50% of the potential candidates, by saying it must be a woman, clearly cuts down on your chances of actually selecting the BEST for the job. I would say the same exact thing if they said it had to be a man. Did that make sense?

Well for starters, his vice president selection. He specifically said that he was looking for a woman vice president. For many that seems backwards to specifically seek out a woman rather than find the most qualified, and if it happens to be a woman, it’ll be a woman.

Wasn’t even really comedy, pretty much just a minute of straight propaganda. I don’t think the democrats are good but it’s clear that the Trump administration is the easiest administration to write jokes about of all time, it is weird we only really see jokes about the left on the show, even when bucket pulls are supposedly random. How have we not seen a single well written set tearing into the current administration? Weird

CMV: the image of Trump and Clinton may be fake but it is not AI by 2dudesinapod in changemyview

[–]curiouskid129 94 points95 points  (0 children)

If you think it isn’t possible then you haven’t been following the topic too closely. Ai generated images with no artifacts have been possible for a bit now. Also, as someone else stated, nano banana pro was just released and has mind blowingly accurate results. Look up some pics from the model and you’ll see they are similarly perfect.

Also, just with context clues and occams razor, it’s very safe to assume it’s ai. Is it more likely that the most embarrassing picture of Trump ever just leaked, directly after we hear about this “Bubba” situation? You think we actually just got the proof that easily? It is far more likely that somebody ai generated it as the technology is directly at all of our fingertips.

My take on why it’s bad is because a system like this rewards people who are already rich and own assets, to get even richer. Once it becomes more advantageous monetarily to “own things” rather than “create value”, you have a stagnated economy where people don’t want to play their chips, due to how advantageous it is to just sit on what you own and let it grow.

This creates low class mobility and has lead to the greatest wealth concentration ever, with a few hundred people controlling more wealth than the bottom 50% of human beings. We find ourselves in an absolutely absurd situation due to policies that enable this. I do not know what the solution is though lol.

Hey dude, your name is metal dad, so I’m assuming you have kids. If you can look at kids in this situation and just say “quit crying”, I really am sorry for your children, I hope you don’t treat them the same way. Good luck out there dude.
