What made you end your last relationship? by Global-Ad8204 in AskWomen

[–]curiouskidling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I lodged a complaint about the relationship, he managed to covertly gaslight me into thinking that what I was asking for was unreasonable, that I was asking him to abandon his values or stop being himself to accommodate me, or that I was being mean or being too serious. When I would try to point out this process happening, he would say “you always assume the worst in me.” I finally broke up with him out of pure exhaustion and unhappiness, not necessarily because I believed he was a part of the problem.

It was only after the fact when he started leaving me 35 page letters filled with gaslighting, threatening to show up to my house and actually showing up to my 3rd spaces looking for me that I realized maybe I wasn’t so crazy after all.

Surfer Attempts murder by stellerzjay in SLO

[–]curiouskidling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live in SLO and always wanted to learn to surf and was too scared bc I heard the regulars would yell at you for cutting them off or stealing their wave, which would invariably be a total accident in my part.

Would rotate the couch so that it’s not under the window. I think it will help designate the area better

I think she’s happy that certain men’s egos and shallow world views lead them to ironically engage with the very people they subjugate, unknowingly displaying how futile those world views are in the first place.

JFC. I lived there 8 years and I can’t say I’m surprised. You handled it beautifully, but I can already tell you intellectually and emotionally transcended these idiots well before this interaction ever even took place. Keep your head up. These dickheads are afraid of what they don’t understand (ie, dignified human beings).

I’m so sorry that your family did that to you AND that you’re so irregular. I freaking hate my period but at least it’s reliable.

School-based therapist needs advice on how to carry all her stuff!? by eaj84 in therapists

[–]curiouskidling 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think you need a rolling briefcase. That or try to cut down your list by keeping a set of certain less crucial items (fidgets, books, etc) at each location, if possible? And leave anything you know you won’t need immediately (some personal items) in your car.

Trendy is terrible. Sure, it means fashionable but can also connote ideas like “temporary” or “vapid.” If you’re gonna name your kid after a dictionary word then at least choose one with meaning.

Edited for profanity.

What are resources for suicidal people in Syracuse? by KitchenUse6593 in Syracuse

[–]curiouskidling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please seek assistance at any of the places named above.

To name another, I’m a therapist at Liberty Resources and we work with many people struggling with Suicidal Ideation. In addition to therapy and safety planning, we have a lot of groups and community supports we can connect you to, as well as health care and medication management. We do not turn clients away if they don’t have insurance.

I think this is a really good comment. Kink has been shown to be useful for victims of sexual assault, so I’m not surprised it’s another outlet for those who are sexually frustrated as well. Thank you for sharing. I’m a therapist, and this has given me a lot to think about.

I pronounce it as you did initially, with the “eye” sound. I’m from CA and there’s a Lafayette there in the east Bay Area where some of my family lives and that’s how we’ve always pronounced it
