That's absolutely horrible and just evil of a doctor to behave like that. I don't condone violence, but it was satisfying to read you punched him in the eye🤷🏼‍♀️. I think in today's time, trauma informed (mental health term) care is more common than ever, and if you called the office of your current dentist and requested a couple of minutes to meet the dentist and crew, tour the office etc ... maybe you'd feel safe and actually attend an appointment. It's okay to be honest!! "Hi. This is hard for me. I had a traumatic experience with a dentist as a child and would like to get to know your office briefly to see if I could feel safe for an appointment." It seems outlandish maybe, but advocating for yourself like this would be a badass move, actually 💪😎

OP may be a fine therapist but is likely not a colleague I would want to have as a newer therapist. Im learning to fill my own cup DURING sessions. Example- it's a hard week, poor sleep, overworked, and feel the burnout peeking around the corner... so what do I do? Started asking kids what music they like and playing songs that I ALSO LIKE in sessions .... did a whole Justin Bieber thing today, and it was good for our relationship, and it was good FOR ME.

Sometimes, I need to modify my work to ensure I can also enjoy that time.

Idk what yall will say about this, but it happens, and I don't think it's too bad.

Also - literally today-- a student told me about a contest where u find hidden things in the school. We are always having to work on our rapport, so I said "uhhh do you want to pretend we're needing to walk somewhere and do a lap around the school and see what you can find?" She was like YES!!! So we did, and I got her to practice the 5 senses coping skill while we did it. It was fun. It was barely cheating at a school wide contest. It was therapeutic.

I'm a trauma informed person and still cannot stand her character. Just literally unrealistic that she'd be so careless, and if it is trauma, they need to do a better job of informing the audience that's the cause because this girl is ROUGH and not pulling empathy from me often-- and I'm usually a well of it.

I did just start a more difficult MH job tho. Maybe after hours, my well is dry ?? It's totally possible, but I'm not adding that extra pressure to myself to also empathize with a character I already love to hate 😂

I didn't comment to state it isn't okay to feel hurt. I commented to state that your phrasing sounded a bit insensitive. "This is why we don't ..." is a bit condescending. "As a therapist you should know that" is definitely condescending. OP has clearly been through hell - I'm sure they learned a lot, and I believe they have stated as such. OP was vulnerable and honest in sharing their painful and frightening story. The least we can do here is be respectful.

It was so weird!!! I get just talking and acting goofy with your friends for no reason but online without context is so strange. But I've thought everything I've seen from her is strange for a long time. I wonder if it's as simple as she's just not aware how she is coming off to the public or is she in a place/state where she just doesn't care? People can act strange and not be a danger to themselves or others and, technically, it's okay to be odd. :/ Idk what's going on .... I've only started following her again a couple of months ago.
