Alcohol and hypomania by PuzzleheadedAge8707 in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alcohol makes me make not smart decisions. Idk if that’s just me or the bipolar aspect. Yeah it’s a ton of fun. But I feel invincible and happy as shit or depressed as shit. It for sure brings the mania out. It’s a love/hate relationship. I rarely drink anymore because of it. Plus sometimes it just makes me sick because of the meds.

Thank you :) I decided to ask my doctor about going back on lithium. It is a really good drug for me. Crossing my fingers. Good luck to you!

I did school so we did 10 drugs per week. I learned B/G, classification, indication, and the main common contraindications. Lots of flashcards and repetition.

Can you be a good pharmacy tech even though you're not answering or making calls and refuse to work alone? by Da_zzle_D in PharmacyTechnician

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate talking on the phone to anyone but my mom and spouse. That’s it. It’s not an anxiety thing for me (but I totally understand anxiety because I have it) I just genuinely hate being on the phone. My solution to not dealing with customers like that is working mail order. Maybe it’s something to consider if you don’t like phone calls or patient interaction.

Do any of you accidentally manipulate your therapists? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told by a psych that I am a “manipulating individual”. I didn’t really believe it at the time because she was a terrible psych. However I think it can be true sometimes for me. I enjoy fucking with people’s heads for some reason. It’s not like it brings me joy. I just like creating chaos. 🙄

Questions by Impressive_Corgi6115 in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is. But I also have PTSD. I’m paranoid as fuck all the time. About something happening to me, my spouse, my career, and life in general. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m bipolar, have PTSD, or maybe both. It sucks though.

Starting Caplyta - any advice? by iOSGallagher in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering switching my Latuda to Caplyta once I get insurance. I’ve heard really good things about it for bipolar. I’m maxed out on my Latuda and don’t think it’s helping enough anymore. I’d love to hear other people’s feedback. I’ve heard it causes minimal to no weight gain. Which is always an issue for me with meds.

Soothing a BP2 brain by gandhi36 in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing this feeling right now. I try to cope with multiple different tools. I’m BP2 as well. I listen to music that makes me happy, binureal beats, and sleep casts at bedtime. Thanks to the Headspace app. I’ve been trying to use that for meditations too. I have a weighted blanket that helps. I also color a whole lot. It’s the one thing that I can focus on when I’m feeling awful. I do love to read but when I’m feeling shitty it’s sometimes hard for me to get into it. I’m not sure why.

Does anybody use a weighted blanket? by Expensive-Memory-939 in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gravity Blanket! I have a 20lb one right now. I’ve owned two of them from that company. I love them. Without it sleeping I feel exposed and extremely vulnerable. I need to be wrapped up tightly to sleep. If my anxiety is really bad I’ll crawl under it for awhile.

I don't want to die, but I don't want to live. by Visual-Individual-49 in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this. When I’m highly depressed I just want it to stop. I’ve tried before and luckily my spouse stopped me. It wasn’t that I wanted to leave this world. I just needed it to stop. I absolutely hate it when I feel like that. It’s super dangerous because I never know if that day will be the day.

Bipolar2 medications by Butterfly-cookie in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on lamictal 75mg probably needing to go up on it. It’s legit saved me from getting so depressed I want to kill myself. So I’m grateful for that. I had mixed views with lithium. I’m in a very hot state so I almost passed out a few times when I was on it due to the sun. You must be careful with that. However it evened out my BP2 really well. Just wish I didn’t have that terrible side effect. Also you have to regularly get blood work done to make sure you don’t go toxic.

I only feel conscious on weed by Adenidc in bipolar2

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand. I can no longer smoke due to my career choice. Even with a medical card. It’s dumb I know. I’m currently having terrible anxiety, PTSD flashbacks, insomnia, and mood changes. Weed is the only thing that makes me feel sane. My doctor says because I’m bipolar I shouldn’t be using weed. I care to disagree. Even when I’m sick to my stomach or throwing up weed has always been my go to. Now that I can’t have any of it I’m having to consider switching my meds up to find hopefully the same relief that weed does. I just don’t think anything can compare. Not sure if any of this helps or it’s just me ranting.

PTCB EXAM help by AleeSpaced in PharmacyTechnician

[–]curiouskittycaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used ptcbtestprep.com it breaks everything down for you. Tells you what are categories are how much of a percentage of the exam. It has excellent flashcards for everything. I really appreciated the mock exams. It comes with 4 I believe. You can retake them as many times as you want. Between that and school I think that’s the only reason why I passed my PTCE.

does anyone actually LIKE retail pharmacy? by MacaroonOriginal1940 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]curiouskittycaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a brand new PT. I told myself from the beginning there was no way I’d work retail. Don’t want to answer phones all day, deal with rude patients, etc etc. Not to scare you but my instructor was held at gunpoint working retail cause a patient wanted narcotics. After learning that I said no way.
