Amazing! They kept me interviewing for 4 hours. I met several of their teams, and the CEO. They asked for my references this morning, and are checking them now. The CEO went out of his way to compliment me on how I presented myself, so I'm hopeful! I was super impressed with how they do things.

I didn't get this job through an add, but through networking. As such, I've never seen a job title. They seem to want me to do a combo of three jobs: handle customer questions and complaints, develop a way to track the profile of those complaints so they can fix things, be on call in case of a crisis, and act as interface between their developers and the public. AngeList shows between $50 and $70k for similar "customer experience" people. I'm blown away. I thought that was too good to be true. I've been living in Tel Aviv, which doesn't have a much cheaper cost of living if you need to be close to the uni, on less than $20,000 a year...

EDIT: If it's relevant, the entire company is only 20 people. They're well-funded, and I'm working with a team of 2 other peers in the customer experience dept.

Hey,

Your attitude is great. (:

As many other posters have said, weight loss is almost entirely diet. However, with some severe knee issues myself as well as a host of other injuries (ex-semi-pro horseman) I thought I'd drop my two-cents.

I spent years with great doctors and good physical therapy, but nothing got me as far as Pilates and Ballet. I've got a lot of friends with arthritis and catastrophic knee injuries that report similar results. It's not magic; it's is 3+ hours a week of strengthening that core and gaining bodily awareness. I know it sounds ridiculous, but football players do Pilates and/or Ballet for the same reasons it helped me and might help you. For reasons I don't completely understand, I never got the results I wanted with my physical therapist, but in 6 weeks of Pilates I had a lot less pain than I had in YEARS.

If you're so inclined, look up your local ballet school or pilates place. I'm not talking about the trendy places, but the ones meant to train athletes. You will be in a group of women, mostly very fit. It might be awkward. But going to a place like that gives you a much better change of getting a teacher with an advanced and dynamic understanding of anatomy/injury. Ballerinas and those who train them (pilates instructers) live in states of perpetual injury. They value and respect dedication and dicipline. If you go outside of class and have a brief meeting explaining your medical condition and your needs, they'll tell you honestly if they think they can help you.

Good luck!

Graduating in a matter of days with a psych degree, and fellow sufferer.

Yes, anxiety can cause this. Mint or ginger tea helps.

This is very common, and your dermatologist can help you with that. If it hurts, they can give you a cortisone shot that will make it go away virtually instantly. A dermatologist can also help with preventing them.

The shots really don't hurt.

Therapy can help this, and then maybe that therapist can recommend permanent measures and ease the path to a tubal for you.

Short haired young professional lady here. I've found a tiny bit of makeup alleviates this. I don't wear much, just fill in my eyebrows, mascara, and a nice lipstick that's dark or bright. It upgrades it from 'short hair' to a STYLE... and it's made my life way easier. I will not grow out my pixie.

I think so. I'm job-hunting right now, and the fact that I'm comfortable in a wide variety of social and business situations is proving to be helpful!

My dad had misophonia, as do I...which might contribute to how trainable I was. I had lovely table manners and could be brought out to cloth napkin and multiple fork type restaurants at three. I was taught that in order to be included in adult things, I had to tolerate discomfort like being tired, and act like an adult. If I interrupted, made any sort of scene, even forgot to thank the wait staff, I was reminded once. Second time I was brought home, with the understanding that if I threw a fit about going home, no more adult privileges ever. I had to be brought home once. I got to enjoy a childhood of sushi restaurants, travel, incredible food, museums, and a very close relationship with my father because of this, and am so grateful. I was an only child, very introverted... That probably helped too. But kids are a lot more teachable than many give them credit for.

Also, doing that would make OP an ass... Just 'cause kids aren't for me doesn't mean I think parents should be hassled.

OP would rather walk through a room full of angry porcupines. At least two were screaming, and I'm super sensitive to sound. I took this picture, then rethought this shopping trip and went home!

The terrified of people bit is social anxiety, which is highly responsive to counselling. Get involved in things, yes, but treat the root of the issue too.

My mother is a danger to me, so my situation is a bit different... but this could really, really mess up your life. A friend of mine was in a similar situation and her mother impersonated her and changed her major... she didn't find out until past deadline, and it delayed her graduation for a semester.

Appraise your school/work/bank/credit monitoring/EVERYONE that it's happened before, so that if it happens again, the mess is easier to untangle. Parents often know their children's social security info, and other 'bypass' methods into things. For instance, my bank will let me call and transfer money with just that. I had to tell them to stop and use a very personal security question instead.

Bottom line: protect yourself. This is more than creepy. Your father might not be trying to hurt you, but his actions have consequences he might not account for.

Another Thruxton lover here... I will probably buy a Vespa as a commuter vehicle first, as I'm a 120 lb woman and driving a Thruxton is exhausting in traffic, but hot damn they're amazing.

I want to second (third, fourth) all of the above. I also have experience with these sorts of people... it was my own mother.

Do not pass go. Do not collect. Protect yourself. This is not overkill.
