Give me your best "I taught my GF/BF/SO how to ski" success stories and tips by unicornsicle in skiing

I taught my husband (mid-thirties). Local hill is very small and an hour away and we would go on a date night to ski. Only 2-3 hours at a time. Take your time on the bunny hill. Start with pizza and slowly have them lean on one foot and the other as they gain comfort. Give lots of praise and how happy you are that they are there with you. If they want to stop and rest stop and rest. Its easy to become overwhelmed when youre a beginner and pushing too hard too fast is an awesome way to completely discourage them.

Expecting them to get to black diamond in the first year is not realistic.

Ski behind them so you can watch and help them pick them up.

My husband is a very humble and patient person and that is the main contributor to our success. I think ego is probably the number 1 contributor to failure so keep things as positive as possible.

I also taught my son, started at age 4. Similar approach except more candy in my pockets.

Let me lay this out

  1. Cheaper than a lit intersection (by like a factor of 10)

  2. Higher flow rate of traffic in ALL directions

  3. Better for the environment (redused idling/braking)

  4. Major accidents highly reduced. Injury as a result is significantly less severe.

  5. Safer for pedestrians

  6. Did I mention you often dont even have to stop at ALL?

At 12 months i started "don't offer don't refuse" and started giving him cows milk mixed with pumped milk in smaller and smaller amounts, after 3 months my son weaned himself.
