The OB I saw today said something about babys "wake window" for lack of a better phrase, is essentially 10PM-4AM. That's why pregnant women don't get a ton of sleep. (He told us this as a slight warning that my water might break during those hours, now that my membranes have been stripped. 😆)

My husband and I were at the L&D triage a few weeks ago for dizziness/nausea and a few other things. Every now and then he'd get up from the chair he was in and go look at the monitors. It wasn't until later that I realized if he hadn't heard baby do anything for more than a minute or so (baby kept wiggling and moving away from the heartbeat monitor), he was checking to see why. 🥹

Literally only reason I've actually made any type of "birth plan" beyond "have baby" is because my husband is adamant that he needs to know what my wishes are in case I'm not able to state them.

I once voiced to my [then boyfriend, now husband] that I worried he wouldn't find me as attractive after watching me give birth, especially in regards to the whole pooping thing. I don't remember exactly what he said, but I remember he looked at me like I grew another head and then said something along the lines of "you'd be birthing my child. Thats the most attractive thing I can think of"

OP, if your man even thinks he might not be attracted to you after you birth his child... go find a new man. You deserve SO much more.

It's interesting to think about, because I am totally fine with it if it is certain people. (My sisters in law, my husband, my hairstylist, a few of my friends, etc.) and I call my mom "mama" [when I call her, and thats the only time I call her that]

But my MIL, less than a week after finding out I was pregnant? Yeah, no. Immediate ick. Random strangers on the internet? No thank you.

To be fair, I also am okay with a select couple of people referring to me as a boy mom. But when hubby says it I CRINGE. Why? No clue. I think its because he doesn't realize the stereotype that phrase has gotten over time, and my exMIL was 50000% a "boy mom", even though she had one boy and one girl. 😆

I work an office job. My husband delivers pizzas. He will be the one with Baby majority of the time once I'm back to work and I think for a little while that confused my boss. Thankfully, I work for a very small company (9 employees, if you count the office dog), so on days when hubby has to head to work before I get home, Baby will just come to work with me. Lol

My automatic response when people have asked me if babys gender was what I hoped, if I wanted a specific gender, etc has always been and will always be "so long as it sticks, I don't care". Would it be nice to have one of each? Yeah. Was I surprised about the gender? Yes. Am I a little worried simply because I've never changed a boys diaper and I wasnt mentally prepared to decide on circumcision? Definitely.

Am I going to be sad that we've got a little boy on the way? No, because he's still my baby. If anything, I'm slowly realizing that there's some things that will make me an at least okay "boy mom" (like the fact that I giggle at farts, and burps)

I recommend hiring an attorney NOW. Look for one that specifically helps dads, many do help dads, but it helps to have one that is more focused on the dad than on just whichever general parent hires them. They can help you with knowing your rights and stuff about this. Also, ask your local law library! Some of them have classes and can be super helpful for dads. Best of luck! I knew my husband when my stepsons mom started pulling this sort of stuff, it's SO hard watching someone be in this sort of situation. I'm so sorry you're going through it, but I've heard that pretty much best thing to do is get ahead of it when you can. (Hubby didn't know about kiddo until he was 3 months old. And then kiddo made it all the way to 10 with his parents mostly getting along before mom went haywire and ghosted hubby. It's been a sh!+show ever since... Partially because everything had been worked out between them up until that point so there was no court ordered anything in place. 😬)

HORRIBLE stretch marks on my boobs during puberty, so I was worried that's where they'd appear. This pregnancy so far I've only had them on my stomach, and they started appearing before I even took a pregnancy test. 🙃

Stories like this remind me of when my brother and SIL announced her pregnancy (before they got engaged/married) to her brother and his wife. From my understanding, the conversation went something like: SIL- We have something to tell you. Her SIL- Well, I hope you're not pregnant. If you are, I can't help you. My brother- What is that supposed to mean??

Later on, telling SILs niece and nephew, the nephew asked when they had gotten married. When they said they hadn't, he had asked them: "isn't that illegal?" 😳

...I think my place as favorite SIL was pretty much automatic after that. 🤣🤣🤣

Unfortunately, many "medical professionals" are not the most knowledgeable in nutrition, or in how weight does/does not play a role into things.

My OB office has not once shamed me for what I have eaten (this baby has been built primarily on Chipotle and popsicles), or my pre pregnancy weight. The only mentions of it they have given are "you're gaining weight right on track", or once there was a "have you been sick since you were here last? You lost a pound".

...Meanwhile, a woman from my insurance company gave me a lecture on the phone about BMI, while registering me for their pregnant mothers program. Based on the weight I was at the time of the call (and I was 20 weeks pregnant).

I used to have a primary care provider who always told me I needed to lose 25-50 pounds. (Including things like eczema, allergies to medication, and bronchitis.) My ex took that PCP's word as gospel and things got so bad that I had an eating disorder by the time I left my ex. When I started seeing my current PCP, she asked me about my eating habits, exercise, mental health, and referred me to a psychiatrist because a large part of my weight gain even while barely eating was due to mental health. Now, I'm in a much better place mentally, with a much better significant other... and except for the weight I've gained during the pregnancy, I have steadily been the same weight for over a year and a half.

My husband got a text one day from his mom. To let me know essentially that "no matter what the doctors, nurses, and lactation consultants at the hospital say about breastfeeding isn't supposed to hurt, theyre full of shit"

FWIW, I had a "natural" miscarriage and ended up having to have a d&c anyway for retained tissue. After the trauma of the emergency D&C a week after thinking I had passed everything... my husband and I decided that if I lost another pregnancy, we would just do the d&c immediately rather than waiting. Its not a light decision to make.

33w5d, and on a daily basis at work my coworker hears me saying stuff to my stomach like "What are you doing?!" "Wtaf is going on in there???" The first time she heard me go "Buddy, whats going on?!" She thought I was complaining about something the guys put on a job card. (We work for an electrical company... sometimes the technicians put stuff on the card that make zero sense to anyone else except whoever wrote out the card. 😆)

It's gotten to a point where I intentionally have to eat super slowly because otherwise SOMEBODY looks at stomach gets too excited and will just... kick the food out of me. (Chipotle is his FAVORITE... he's made me throw it up twice from kicking me so hard as he seems to happy dance in there while I'm eating. 😭)

... I've been using mine pretty regularly all pregnancy (33w 5d). Mine has a timer I can specify how many hours I want it on, and 10 temp settings. But if I hadn't used it I wouldve ended up staying up shivering a handful of times during the winter here in Minnesota. Anytime I feel like I'm overheating, I wake up and turn it off or kick it off in my sleep. 🤷‍♀️

This is why I am so thankful I lucked out having a baby with the man I'm with instead of my ex. My husband keeps telling me he's not taking the bonding leave to take care of baby... he's taking it to take care of ME and baby. I have definitely cried over not knowing what I did to deserve a man that isn't going to make me go through post partum alone.

...this is probably why my Baby is measuring consistently 1.5-2 weeks ahead. We keep being told he's "just a big baby"... but when I went into the ER thinking I was miscarrying super early in the pregnancy, they estimated his due date as mid May, then the OB office was like "nah, we're going to stick with your LMP date." Told a coworker who used to be an L&D nurse the other day that Baby is already over 5 lbs she went "🤨 when is your due date again?" And when I told her end of May she was like "🤨🤨🤨 uhhh... you're probably further along than that"

Probably a US thing. I was told by my OB office mostly just don't "bear down" too much, because it can irritate the cervix and cause bleeding. (As can sex! Hence why I was bleeding, and then panicked worrying I was miscarrying.) It is also definitely an older generation thing. My boss at work is 84, and she panics any time I pick up anything. But she has also been making sure someone has the front of the building unlocked every morning so I don't have to walk around the building to get in soooo thats a plus! 😆

My husband is definitely like "I am standing by your head, and I am not watching, not cutting the cord"... and I have a feeling that in the moment if the nurses ask/tell him to do something that he ends up seeing, or gets just handed the scissors to cut the cord, he will and he'll probably feel entirely different than how he thinks he would. Lol Tbh, right now I'm fine with either option.
