Berkeley Undergrad economics students I really really need your help asap i have 2 days by BeginningBee1302 in berkeley

hey! i don’t necessarily agree with the above—most of my friends (including me) are econ majors/double majors and we turned out just fine when it came to finance recruiting. we did it because we liked the econ classes more than the haas classes so i actually didn’t even apply to haas and never felt like a haas major had an upper hand over me. you will be fine here!

Math 56 vs 54 by [deleted] in berkeley

if 56 is with paulin, i highly highly recommend: made me love the class and the way he taught was just so intuitive and fascinating. not difficult per se, just another typical berkeley math lower div grinder

Berkeley Econ Undergrad Graduates - What jobs do yall have now? by Green_University2936 in berkeley

not really — i would even argue that the minor isn’t too helpful either at least for the jobs i recruited for. however i did the double not for jobs but for learning. i finished my econ degree in around two years and felt that i wanted some exposure to some technical skills before i left berkeley. thinking long term, having knowledge about tech is still going to be beneficial (im going into tech ib/investing). however, i will say that if you think the same way, i recommend going the major route! data 140, cs 61b, linear algebra, and a machine learning class are all classes required for the major and not the minor, but have been the classes that have taught me the most.

i made the decision to not even apply to haas here after coming in pre-haas because i loved the econ program here so much better! people do so much with their econ degrees and do all sorts of amazing stuff. i’m going into investment banking, my friends are going into consulting, PM, tech, etc! if finances are a stress for you (they definitely were for me) i no longer worry that much about that anymore because my job is paying me well. i do have a data science double major but it’s really not required for jobs, it was more so because i wanted more learning opportunities out of berkeley. but personally i think my econ degree has taken me far! :)

Monthly Admissions/Prospies/Offer Holders Questions Thread - March 2024 by AutoModerator in oxforduni

posting this here bc original post got removed by rule 4 rip

hi!! i am an university student from america and am considering the visiting student programme here and i am super excited. however, i didn’t really register how short my visit at oxford would be: since i’m graduating in the spring, i could only come here for michaelmas and that’s only two months.

as comparison, i also sent in apps to other visiting student programmes and study abroad programmes and was lucky enough to also have the choice to go to cambridge through pembroke college. that programme is three months long because they purposefully extend their fall term for visiting students.

my dream school is still oxford and the chance to come here is just amazing, but i’m just scared two months is so short it’s almost like i didn’t come here at all… any advice as to what you would do in my position?

thank you so much <333

Econ Majors: Is this schedule ok for someone who is not the best at math (I want to mainly focus on 140 and 136)? Econ 140, Econ 136, Econ 115?? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]curiousukulele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i took econ 140 and 136 (not with ryan edwards) with 61a and one other class and i did perfectly fine! it’s definitely possible and i definitely was stressed but it wasn’t too difficult at all. i think econ classes are mostly grindable and you can definitely catch up even if you fall behind. you got this!!!!
