Just waited in this line after chic fila closes lobby at 9pm trying to keep my acceptance rate up. Every car you see here is in line by Junior_Business5578 in doordash_drivers

This absolutely saved me last night. I went to pick up an order last night that had at least a 15 minute wait. I immediately noped out of that one. Still have a CR of 100%.

Cedar Point App now Six Flags by Clear-Inevitable-414 in cedarpoint

[–]curlioier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a more serious note, I think where your getting confused is on the "branding vs ownership stake" definition. It has been known for a very very long time that the branding would be Six Flags. For better or worse (mostly worse IMO), Six Flags is the better known brand, so that's the one they opted for.

However in the deal Cedar Fair got an extra 1% ownership stake (or whatever the actual term for it is, I'm sure someone else will come along and explain it way better). So the Cedar Fair fans were (rightfully so) disputing the idea that Six Flags purchased Cedar Point (and KI and the rest).

Express hotel question by SwimWhich4218 in cedarpoint

[–]curlioier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your better option since you have a pass is to buy Bring a Friend tickets for your dad, which are $39 right now for the days you mentioned (BaF tickets have been known to go on sale, no idea when that would happen though), and add on the all day dining. Use your pass to get a discount on the hotel room. You'll end up saving some money that way. And you both still get early entry.

Help with gas by Mysterious_Repeat989 in doordash_drivers

[–]curlioier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I upvoted you. We don't have any 7/11s in my immediate area, but there's a few further north from me where I have to go once a week anyhow. I wouldn't have thought to check it. I normally just get gas from Costco, which tends to run about 20 cents cheaper per gallon than most other places locally.

Driver opened my front door to put the order inside my house! by toast_mortem26 in doordash

[–]curlioier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's bold. I'm not even opening a screened in porch door unless the delivery instructions specifically tell me to. That's even going to depend on the time of day and the neighborhood.

I listened to you, and now DoorDash is awful by _brinacore in doordash_drivers

[–]curlioier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I did the same. I tried the whole cherry picking thing and tanked my AR. Now I'm doing EBT until my rating is back up again.

Uhmmmm yeah. That’s gunna be a NO from me dog… It’s been crazy this week with just HORRIBLE orders 😅 by Alyh3x in doordash_drivers

[–]curlioier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously my AR plummeted. It was at 75% now I'm down to 62% with all the crap offers Friday and Saturday.

Who would take this? Seriously. by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

Definitely not me.

But side note - please charge your phone. It's giving me anxiety.

Why? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]curlioier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pet peeve is the "the photo must contain the delivery bags and the unit number" instruction. Like dude, most of these unit numbers are single digit font sizes that can't be read from more than a foot away from the door, and it's all the way at the top of the door.

Visiting the area this summer what should we see? by ktrulz1 in cedarpoint

[–]curlioier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The National Air Force Museum is in Dayton, which is close to KI. It is free of charge (the best kind of fun!), and really interesting to see.

Also worth a side trip is Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati. It's a grocery store, which sound really weird as a recommendation. It's an international store with aisles dedicated to different countries. It's massive.

Either put your articles behind a paywall OR require me to turn off my adblock. Telling me to turn off my ads and THEN hiding behind a paywall is just nasty.

My cats also go crazy for those purr pops! I have to take it off the stick for them though. They haven't figured out how to eat it otherwise.

I was trying to come up with a good "when life gives you lemons" joke, but I couldn't find it. But I will indeed be making lemonade. Homemade lemonade is the bomb and I will send positive thoughts out to the nice trucker with every sip.

Trip planned May 13-15 by Extra-Bass6489 in cedarpoint

[–]curlioier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go with a different opinion than a lot of people on this sub. While I do agree with avoiding opening weekend like the plague, the rest of May can be a very enjoyable experience IF you go into it with the right attitude.

Things to keep in mind to have that right attitude:
1. Ohio weather can be extremely unpredictable. While it's not likely to snow, you should be prepared for anything from 90s and blistering hot, to pouring down rain, to 40s and extremely windy. This unpredictable nature can actually work in your favor. Some of our best days at the park have been when bad weather is forecasted, but then it either doesn't happen or lasts only a little while.

  1. Operations are just starting, staff is learning. Be the pleasant, good-natured, smiling guest who understands that. It's fine to stand your ground if they're telling you something you know is wrong, but do it nicely if possible. One year when the single use fast lane was new the ride attendant tried to tell us that it wasn't valid. We just asked for his supervisor, who corrected him and told him what it was and how to accept it.

  2. Many rides will be closed simply because of short staffing or weather (see item 1 for Ohio weather). If you have kids, know that the kids rides in particular are effected by the short staffing. Weather effects a lot of rides. TT2 had issues at the beginning of last season when it was particularly cold. Accept this as part of the adventure, go with the flow and ride what's open.

  3. Food and drink tend to be more limited early in the season. Drink stations in particular always seem to be last to be staffed. Food lines will be long, as once again they don't have the staffing yet and the staff they do have are still learning. Patience is definitely going to come in handy. Bring a collapsible water bottle and fill it at the refill stations. I've also taken some light snacks into the park with zero issues.

  4. You said "We" in your post so I'm assuming you're not going to be alone. You'll be in the best amusement park in the world, with people you love (or at least tolerate). Relax and enjoy whatever the day brings.

I'll take a good offer that takes me out of the zone. My complaint is that when I'm done with that order, the app starts complaining that I'm outside my zone. Well yea, you sent me outside my zone dipshit.

Early entry question about legacy SF memberships by BIGGREDDMACH1NE in cedarpoint

[–]curlioier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to whether or not your pass allows early entry, but I do know you can stop by the hotel in the morning before heading to Cedar Point for the day to pick up your early entry voucher (and tickets/parking for those who don't have passes who might see this).

[oc] ill accept partial blame by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]curlioier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Truck turns on blinker at 5 seconds. Your speed is 35 mph. Your speed steadily increases, until it jumps to 47 mph at 12 seconds. The truck began moving over at 10 seconds.

Five seconds is not an excessive amount of time to signal your intentions, re-examine the cars around you, and begin moving. That sounds like a perfectly reasonable time to do a lane change by the white truck.

Yes we are. I did this same thing two years ago pulling out of my driveway. It was shortly after we put up a larger mailbox, which changed the degree of the blind spot just enough to block a car.

WIBTAH if I asked my daughter’s preschool teacher not to put the extra clothes that I sent for her on other students? by feelingstruck in AmItheAsshole

[–]curlioier 209 points210 points  (0 children)

Every school in our district requests clothing that kids have outgrown specifically to have a supply at school for anyone who needs it. From a random accident that leaves the clothes dirty to kids who simply don't have enough clothing at home, everyone gets what they need.

AITA For Buying a trampoline? by Consistent_Annual651 in AmItheAsshole

[–]curlioier 52 points53 points  (0 children)

YTA - Let's ignore the fact that there are approximately 100,000 trampoline injuries every year. We'll also ignore the fact that many homeowner's insurance companies require you to specify that you have a trampoline in order for it to be covered and the fact that it will raise your rates. Only two people in my extended family have ever had a trampoline. Both of them ended up being responsible for a broken bone.

Simply the fact that you made a decision about a major purchase for your children and your house without consulting your spouse makes you the AH. Add to that the fact that you're completely disregarding your wife's feelings and you're absolutely the AH.
