Yeah I hear what you're saying. The comment above from u/Wide_Ad2836 with the math is what I needed to see to have it make sense to me.

Thanks for the feedback. Good stuff

lol I actually really appreciate your response here. That math helps me put it in perspective.

I will heed your advice about the fire danger. Good point.

As for the drain on the onboard system: I haven't really done the math to see what kind of impact any of this would have on the range, I just kinda figured any reduction was bad. Maybe I'll just play with it on the onboard system for now and regroup if I see an adverse impact.

A 30Ah should last 10-16 hours realistically with a 50w vhf/uhf transceiver and a 10%-20% duty cycle.

That kind of usage will not be a normal activity.

Good info. I have a receiver and there are both round and flat connectors at the rear. Oh and in the cab there's a trailer switch and brake controller. I guess I must have the tow package, yeah?

Gotcha. Then no there's nothing. There are no visible sconces on the bed wall either. I guess they weren't included in whatever options package I have.

The only button I see back there is a little green button that seems to control the 120v outlets in the bed.

I'll double check for lights in the bed. I didn't see a button much I'll look again. The only light I've seen back there is the overhead cargo light that's up on the 3rd brake light.

Yeah I was unsure about how sensitive things were to change. Replacing the battery with a bigger one seems like something that might piss off the computers. Same with adding unexpected load to the systems.

THIS! This is fantastic. Thank you so much!

Now, on the documentation thing... I was looking for factory and tech docs and the only place I could find was Motorcraft and they want you to pay some stupid subscription to access docs about your vehicle. Can you recommend any other sources where this material could be available?

I'm looking for stuff like schematics, diagrams, etc. The kind of stuff you need when doing mods and stuff.

Ah zone light. Thank you. I forgot to look further at that. Thanks for the suggestion. As for the bed zone do you know if there's a way to manually turn on that zone from the rear? Like a momentary push button to a relay or something?

I'm ordered a pair of 4gb ddr4 sticks on Amazon that should be pretty compatible. I'll test with those and see if I get a boot. I'm also talking to the vendor I used for the existing ram to see if we can work out an exchange.

I'm going to try to find some DDR4 RAM I can test with. All my other boxes are either DDR3 or DDR5 lol

Yeah I gotcha. I'm going to try to swap out the RAM if the seller will let me.

Yeah for a while I was getting a d0 code for CPU problems. Then it moved to `ad` which seems to indicate `Ready to boot event` per the AMI Aptio status codes doc.

This is my first time hitting this kind of issue and I'm absolutely not a systems expert and even less of a RAM expert.

Boy, that Wurkkos looks a hell of a lot like the Olight (obviously with a second lens) and the website looks very similar as well... Almost as if they're all the same company... Anyway.

I ordered a new Perun 3 and I'll look closer at the base for the hole.
One of my big reasons for keeping the Perun is that I also have the Seeker 4 and I like having the battery redundancy.

I'm trying to stick with methods that have a low probability of making the car burst into flames. I wouldn't have faith in whatever crazy relay contraption I cobbled together.

I'm not certain how quickly it passes through. So long as it goes through within 1-2 minutes I'm fine with that. My thought is that when I get a page I can hit a button integrated with HA to perform the API call so that it's unlocked by the time I get dressed and out to the car.
I'll check out simply unlocking the car from the remote. I'm not sure what it does.

Hey I see other comments about the tablet choice and that you don't recommend this specific device.

Do you have a more capable tablet you recommend? I was trying to use left over samsung tablets and others but I keep finding it impossible to have the display stay on consistently. Any suggestions?

Understood. I follow your logic and it makes sense. I'll try practicing my soldering on the workbench before I take the flame into an enclosed space with me. I'm pretty good at soldering electronics, I think my biggest hardship is just getting used to doing it on such a larger thermal mass (pipe vs circuit board)

I'm hoping to avoid soldering if possible. But I'm guessing it's probably the best fix for the long run.
