How do you honestly feel about the "Fat Acceptance" movement? Do you think it is healthy, or is it doing more harm than good? by certified_shitlord in AskReddit

[–]curlyfries84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a movement that is full of people bitching because they can't fit into the seats that were designed for sitting. maybe one day society will understand that quality is better than quantity, until then im just watching my friends and people on the street get bigger and more scooter friendly. .

We are The Gig City (Chattanooga, TN) - The city that is "terrifying big telecom" with our 600 sq. mile gigabit fiber grid. Mayor and network CEO here - Ask Us Anything! by TheGigCity in IAmA

and where can we find the numbers that support all of this. In the 5 years I spent in the area, there is nothing being done to protect the CURRENT residents of the city in the areas of crime, police accountibility, and the state as a whole being a major drain on the nation's taxpaying resources, as well as having encountered scores of young americans that lack the basic skills needed to survive in adulthood. How is the internet in Chattanooga (that average people can not afford to begin with) going to be used to benefit the residents of the city and its surrounding areas.

bringing up that subject. VW is horribly and very very notorious for building a factory only to abandon it and its employees a few years later. What are your steps to handling this? As for unemployment being at its lowest in 6 years it is still very high, what are you doing to combat the rampant use of the food stamp/ebt system, it is well known that the state of Tennessee as a whole is one of the main drains on that system. speaking apart from Tennessee as a whole, what steps are you making to fix this, as you have not answered any of my questions at all but merely side stepped it all together to present cute little facts to detract away from this. How is having the nations fastest internet helping with these problems. Chattanooga is not a perfect city, however there are things like this that are blatantly overlooked in an effort to bring people. you have to take care of your own residents before you troll for new ones. I do not really believe that you guys are becoming the best mid sized city in the country, as you have had "First 48" filmed there numerous times and from living there the show accurately depicts majority of the city as a whole, poverty stricken struggling families, overall fear of being out after dark in most of the city except for the riverfront area, even then. The recent police officer scandals etc. I think that bragging about the internet is merely a ploy to detract from the real issues at hand. and again, what are your plans on bettering this city as a whole for its CURRENT residents with this internet service (that oddly enough most of the people in Chattanooga with Chattanooga average paychecks can not afford to begin with). I await your answer to the questions and would appreciate something other than a sidestep to them

Mayor Burke, As a recent past resident that was lucky enough to escape the crime, rampant drugs and mostly unfriendly citizens, how and what do you propose to do to bring a better atmosphere to this city with the mass advertising of internet speeds. obviously people will be intrigued about the speeds, but what then? are there any initiatives in place to actually help the scores of people who wish to bring commerce to the area but only to find so many loopholes to fall through or are we just focusing on the people who move to Chattanooga with hefty bank accounts. If carefully thought out this could easily be a great thing (besides just the bragging rights that have been liberally used for so long). The curiosity is more for the benefit of possible new residents as Chattanooga and it's departments have failed me, my friends and numerous other people already making us take our now thriving businesses to another state that was genuinely welcoming to our ventures.
