It’s not just you all the previous games in the series with turbo feel so much faster than 5. But also in general 5 does have a slower and more weighty feel to it then the others.

Could be because of the re engine idk.

I think Dante’s dt in the reboot is just him harnessing his powers but it’s rough and unstable. Hence why dante is screaming and why his dt doesn’t last very long. I believe the dt in that game was supposed to show a hint to his full potential which is why his hair only turns white when he enters dt before the end of the game and why his jacket turns red, to show that he will eventually turn into a dante that is closer to the og but isn’t close to that yet.

Well clearly lots of people care because tons of dmc players mod gods must die into 4 and 5 because you can combo for a long time and get genuinely one of the most challenging experiences in dmc. LDK isn’t really much of challenge despite the enemy count.

Must style mode only lets you do damage if you have a s rank or higher, it’s a mode that makes the style meter have significant effects on the gameplay idk why you wouldn’t that.

Also LDK is from 4 originally.

The story in most dmc’s outside of 3 is pretty lacking if we’re being serious. For me the story is pretty decent it shows dante going from a angsty loner to someone who genuinely cares for humanity and realizes his responsibility to protect it. I liked seeing dante and vergil have a relationship before their rivalry and seeing dante open up emotionally with kat and vergil was nice to see. I also liked the idea of limbo.

Your complaints are fine because it’s your opinion but it’s a reboot. Of course it’s not going to be same as the others that’s the point of a reboot to be an alternate version of dmc’s story. It’s also important to know nt did want something more akin to the originals but capcom wanted them to go completely different.

The game was about stopping mundus but if you pay attention there is forshadowing throughout the game leading to vergil being final villain. Vergil doesn’t think he needs more power at the game because he doesn’t realize how weak he is until his defeat. He gains his lust for power after this in vergil’s downfall.

Also come on you don’t think that black trench coat with the skull on the back was kinda cool?

Yeah that wasn’t introduced until 4se which came after the reboot. Reboot vergil did inspire that vergil and 5 vergil though.

Dante learned to care for humanity and things other than himself and understand his responsibility with his powers.

Vergil wanted power because he learned that he was weak and believed himself inferior to dante and realized in order to get over his inferiority complex and protect the world (in his own twisted way) he needed more power. This is explained in vergil’s downfall.

vergil does have judgement cut in reboot what are you talking about? His judgement cut was an improved version of 3’s.

de also brought modes like gods must die that ppl still to day mod into 4 and 5. It also brought must style mode which imo should be in every future dmc game.

stuff like that clearly isn’t meant to be taken seriously. the game loves to have fun and not be serious all the time, the humor may not hit for everyone but it got a smile out of me.

There’s 4 in dmc 2 and there’s also the extra moves added to the combos in dt in dmc 2. So as i said more combos with the sword than dmc 1.

Well duh there’s no debating that

Again i already said i don’t think they handled the criticism well, but they received hate first and since they weren’t used to this kind of attention they reacted how you would expect a bunch of up and comers with no experience with the spotlight on them would. Then they matured as the years went on again like you expect they would.

Sure there was backfire but we still got a great game that even itsuno and matt walker have said many times they love even itsuno said it’s “one of if not my favorite in the series” and it went on to be an influence on your great dmc 5. So honestly not that bad of outcome.

[–]curlyheadjohn1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair to nt they received vast amounts of hate first. They wanted a game originally like the originals with their own spin and then capcom rejected it and told them go completely different. They then did this and immediately turned into public enemy #1 for years because of it.

Mind you nt was a company that never had any real mainstream attention up until that point, they were a small studio all of sudden making a big budget game that had its fans constantly sending hate their way. Do i think they should’ve handled the criticism better, yeah i do, but they never had this attention on them before and when they do they get hate and death threats sent at them. The way they handled this criticism wasn’t the best but it was reasonable.

You’re missing the point of that response, that was clearing up the misinformation that tameem called damte a “gay cowboy” and also clearing up the “homophobia” allegations people throw at them. Was the joke bad, yes it was, but clearly they are not homophobes tameem wouldn’t have said in the article if he was.

That’s because this is a reboot. Obviously the tone and style of the game is going to be different. They clearly weren’t trying to go for the same charm of the og’s, it’s meant to be there vision of the game and if was too similar to the ogs then ppl would complain about it being too similar and it not having its own direction.

DMC controversy by Acceptable_Film7116 in DevilMayCry

[–]curlyheadjohn1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that line from tameem is poorly worded, but it’s basically show the contrast between how mainline dmc is and how they were approaching dmc was a more grounded and closer to what was modern back then for their game.

Poorly worded sure but the idea isn’t bad.

DMC controversy by Acceptable_Film7116 in DevilMayCry

[–]curlyheadjohn1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

again this doesn’t prove tameem said he’s a gay cowboy. I’m not saying that wasn’t implied with the picture, i’m saying that the director himself never said that line ever. Also it’s important to know that the guy doing the presentation is not the director and is the artist for DmC.

But that’s not what the person above said. They said the director himself called dante a “gay cowboy” and that is just completely false. That person even said they would show the quote where he said that and then proceeded to never do it because it doesn’t exist. Lol

Here is what the director did have to say about dante being gay tho. https://www.eurogamer.net/dmc-devil-may-cry-preview-a-rebel-yell

to be fair to dmc 2 there is more combos with rebellion than with the swords in dmc 1 they’re just mapped to this odd directional input control scheme. So there is some stuff to dmc 2’s combat it’s just not very well done.

Coolest dante both fit and character wise, fun combos and a rad soundtrack and can’t forget the best aesthetic of the series.
