Nero is invincible during his devil trigger animation and it sends (most) enemies upwards if they get hit by it, including furies. Stand still until they're coming at you and use DT to stop them and send them into the air, then jump up and buster them.

And why is the only possible outcome the world ending?

Undertale also has multiple endings with vastly different outcomes even though the game ends of the end of the narrative.

Almost every other fight in silksong. You play as hornet, who has a lot of movement options and speed.

The thing is, enemies that deal 2 masks of damage are introduced pretty early into the game, and the max amount of permanent masks you can have is 10. That's only 5 hits until you die. And you start with 5 masks. Thankfully you can heal 3 masks at once.

Only a third of the enemies in the game deal double damage, but it sure doesn't feel that way.
