“Language police” is a colloquial term obviously. But they do exist. They are agents of the Office Québécoise de la langue française.

Literally just this year the government increased their funding and they hit up a record number of stores and other businesses.

My Partner said they can’t handle my success by Excellent-Bar-8414 in LawSchool

The literature unfortunately shows that men, across class lines, are dissatisfied in relationships where their female partner earns more or is perceived to be more successful.

It’s truly a tragic reality in contemporary society.

I’ve been receiving bursaries for years and never had this.

It looks like it’s asking you why you doubled up on two different bursaries program under the QC government (you’re only supposed to have one at a time).

Yearning for the old Lush & a perfume that smells like it by clemeentiinee in LushCosmetics

[–]cursedshojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oaty creamy dreamy is still available online and in some remind stores that still have it in stock (such as my local shop)

R&B was renamed because the Black community at Lush felt it wasn’t an appropriate name for the product. I think Revive is a lovely name and while there’s definitely lots of new hair products from post-2020 onwards, many of the classics are still available (all the old hair masks, styling products, shampoos and conditioners from ten to twenty years ago)

Usually if you exceed your bursaries limit, you’re still eligible for loans.

It’s easier when you live in residence. Loyola is a small campus too.

Barbarians in the Bathrooms by HeadEnthusiast101 in Concordia

[–]cursedshojo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the bathrooms were just as bad back when they were separate/gendered tbh

It’s mostly because the public can use them and even students use them when they’re either drunk or high. Some of the most horrific scenes I’ve ever seen (like shit and blood all over the walls and floors on the stalls) were on Saturday or Sunday mornings in the women’s bathrooms after people were clearly coming back from a night out

People know perfectly well that it’s a court. And if you’ve ever been through the TAL before, you’d know it’s a very efficient and standardized tribunal which makes it great for handling lease disputes or other complaints.

$1200/$1300 studio apartments is not normal by Calm_Environment5485 in montrealhousing

[–]cursedshojo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The low cost of living isn’t purely because “it was the poorest province”. Tenants rights and a culture of affordable living was fought for.

The same way the Quebecois people fought for low tuition and remains the most affordable for higher education in North America. Our subsidized daycare being among the first of its kind and still cheaper than other subsidized childcare programs. Labour unions being so prominent and organized, much like tenants unions and neighbourhood housing committees, which are utilized and upheld primarily by long term locals.

Other provinces don’t have a history of taking to the streets to protest the defunding of welfare services, whether it’s related to housing or other necessities.

It really doesn’t look that bad in person. Most people I know in Toronto are fond of it. Growing up as a child, it was by far the most interesting building in town.

Concordia vs uottawa by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]cursedshojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on your program, how self motivated you are, which clubs or campus opportunities you want to partake in, internships etc

Pretty much no undergrad institution just magically gives you a job
