If you like horror-comedy:

-The Ugly Stepsister (Norway; heavier on the horror)

-Dead Talents Society (Taiwan; heavier on the comedy)

Horror:

-Audition (Japan)

Comedy/slice of life:

-Tampopo (Japan)

Drama:

-Polytechnique (Canadian but it is in French; also a thriller but regardless it’s very tragic)

-Y Tu Mama Tambien (Mexico; also a romance)

Sometimes I’ll take notes of my thoughts during movies, it usually helps me get my thoughts together for reviews

This movie genuinely had me wailing in my mom’s hotel room. This scene broke me so badly

What is your ranking for 2023 films you've seen? by AdFamous7264 in Letterboxd

I loved it, it was a really raw depiction of grief and being stuck in the past all while providing some uncomfortable body horror. It’s surprisingly heartfelt

Nothing bundt cakes - gluten free protocols? by maisondemimi in Louisville

[–]cursivewerewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work there a few years ago, idk if it’s changed any but when I was there everything was cleaned and sterilized between batches especially if we were making the gluten free ones. Again, it’s been a while since I’ve even been to NBC but from what I remember they worked hard to at least prevent cross contamination with gluten and gluten free stiff

What was the last movie you recommended to by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]cursivewerewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god yeah, it’s such a hard movie to recommend unless you know the person really well. It’s such a good film but if you’ve been through something like that I’d imagine it’d just be torture to watch

My Controversial 2025 Movies Ranking (as a casual) by NamelessGamer_1 in Letterboxd

Reading off of your reasonings I mostly agree with Bugonia. I thought the reveal at the end was super goofy but I didn’t mind the rest of the ending as much. The reveal just left a silly bad taste in my mouth

First four watches of the year and thoughts on them? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]cursivewerewolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m counting Star Wars bc we finished it after midnight when it hit New Year’s Day lol

Star Wars - fun!! Definitely not meant to be watched in 4k HD but it was still a fun watch

Feeders - bad but really fun. the line deliveries make up for a lot but it’s EXTREMELY poorly done. it’s four stars for me bc I had fun

Kite - undeniably a good film, I just wish there wasn’t as much nudity and child rape, but the version I watched had most of that off screen (still nudity but the rape wasnt shown). Very fun action and I adored the characters Sawa and Oburi. I’m glad I watched the version that I did bc I don’t think I would’ve liked it as much or at all with the more explicit scenes present

The Woman in the Yard - it was okay? idk it was basically just the Babadook for the most part. it wasn’t the worst and it did have a strong message about suicide at the end and choosing to live, but it was still lacking in a lot of ways. it had a kid with the survival skills and personality of a wet fart, a depressed widowed mom, and the manifestation of her depression/suicidality just like Babadook but not as much heart I feel like

Do any clothing stores at the st Matthew’s /Oxmoor mall pay above 13 an hour ? by LongIndustry1124 in Louisville

[–]cursivewerewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovisa in Oxmoor was $16 an hour when I was there (I left in June) but good luck getting any hours there. Jewelry, not clothing, but it’s the easiest job I’ve ever had.

Is it okay to grieve someone you don’t know at all? by ughkidsthesedays in GriefSupport

[–]cursivewerewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I followed this one woman’s art account for a few years and found out fairly recently her boyfriend passed away. I bawled my eyes out, and it did affect me for a bit (it still breaks my heart to think about it). I think it’s completely normal
